23.01.2022 One of my absolute favourite things to do is to play wardrobes. Ask any one of my good friends. We literally make a night of it. Wine, music and my collection of clothes, shoes and bags. Getting dressed everyday should be FUN If its not fun, you really arent doing it right. But I understand why so many people struggle to find something to wear. Maybe your body has changed since having a baby and your new figure is a bit softer and rounder?... Maybe youve never felt comfortable shopping in the first place and buying clothes is a nightmarish experience? Maybe you just dont have the energy or the time to care anymore. For whatever reason youre not loving getting dressed with joy in your heart, just remember this really super important style rule: THERE ARE NO RULES Yes! You read it right! Forget the rules! Its a really cool retail space that allows independent designers like myself to rent a small area to showcase and sell my stuff. Checking on loved ones. Running businesses. It’s time that we made ourselves a priority for once. It’s easy to do, just start small. Maybe it’s finding five mins to have a quiet cuppa or indulging in your favourite hobby. I love to paint and draw. I never make enough time in my day to do that. Fashion start up life has been far from easy and getting started is definitely the hardest. I expected so much and received so little. It was really damn hard to stay positive when so many things in my life were very hard, all at the same time. However, persistence has paid off. There are some hugely exciting projects on the board and 2020 is shaping up to be such an amazing year. So many opportunities, so little time to get them all done! 10.01.2022 My home office My happy place. During COVID we decided to move our offices back home to save a bit of cash because hey, who doesnt need a bit of cashola right now? It was the best decision we ever made I get the best of both worlds every single day. I can work and I can not be an entirely shit parent Which is a very hard balancing act.... My sweet girl Lily has decorated my office with her cute pictures and impromptu dance routines. My son Elijah raids my lolly stash and brings the cats in for regular pats. Covid is shit theres no doubt but it changed my work life and brought it home in a good way. 07.01.2022 This week, I am really super excited to share one of my favourite lady boss inspo friends, Nadia @yvballet I always wanted to do ballet Even as a child. I didnt have the right body type and my Mum thought it was kind to spare me the experience. Years later, I enrolled my own daughter to try her hand at Ballet (wasnt for her but she loves Jazz) and to my surprise, her ballet school offered ADULT BEGINNER CLASSES!!... Last year I nervously joined an adult beginners class and I am teary as I write this because it has become one of the greatest joys of my life. Nadia. Beautiful, kind and talented. She created a safe, inclusive and supportive school that celebrates dancers from all walks of life. Kids, teens, adults and even long retired dancers. With her grace and charm, she handles everything effortlessly. 05.01.2022 Its official we are back! After so many heartbreaking set backs this year, we held steady and survived the storm. We were only open six months when corona wreaked havoc in our world and forced my business to its knees. But we are still here.... This year looks a lot different to the one I had planned but I am a strong believer in the mysterious powers of the universe and I am grateful that it was not the end for Andrea Lucy Designs. Exciting stuff is on the horizon and I can feel the winds of change gently stroking my back. Its not over but there is hope. 01.01.2022 So the world might be going to hell in a (faux designer) handbag but that doesnt mean we cant look damn fine whilst doing so I wouldnt let anything get in the way of my glamazon. Joking aside, the state of the world isnt great right now. It may seem shallow to focus on the way we dress but it isnt. My mum instilled in me that no matter what I felt inside, I must always present myself in the best way possible. When you look good, you feel good. Yes I have anxiety like e...veryone else about the state of the world but it doesnt stop me from putting my face on, wearing a pretty dress and smiling at strangers. Thats just who I am.
