08.01.2022 The JobKeeper 2.0 scheme (ie. Extension 1) will run for the fortnights during 28 September 2020 and 3 January 2021. It is extremely important for businesses to review their eligibility and their staff eligibility before continuing in the scheme. In most cases, eligible businesses will need to show that their business GST turnover is actually 30% down (not projected) when comparing the September 2020 quarter to the September 2019 quarter. This needs to be done on the same ba...sis that you report for GST. There is some alternate tests available if these periods aren't appropriate. It is important to double check that you have notified all eligible employees as the key date for assessing employee eligibility is now 1 July 2020 instead of 1 March 2020 as it originally was. The scheme now uses two payment tiers, - Tier 1, $1,200 which will reduce to $1,000 for Extension 2, and - Tier 2, $750 which will reduce to $650 for Extension 2. An assessment of all eligible employees needs to be done where Tier 1 will apply to those who worked for 80 hours or more in the four weeks before either 1 March 2020 or 1 July 2020 and Tier 2 will apply for the remaining eligible employees. 04.01.2022 Original JobKeeper Updated, VIC Government Grant and HR Advice A few important changes have occurred in the past few days as a result of Stage 4 restrictions. The key points you need to know are: The original JobKeeper scheme has been updated to include employees from 1 July 2020 (not 1 March 2020) for the JobKeeper fortnights starting 3 August 2020. It is really important to act quickly as you may have some new staff or some casual employees who are now eligible.... Stage 4 restrictions are now having a large impact on business. We remind all businesses that you can still enroll in the original JobKeeper scheme if you believe you will satisfy the relevant drop in turnover (generally 30%). Please speak to one of our staff immediately if you need further information. The Victorian government has released a $10k grant for businesses under Stage 4 restrictions and $5k for those under Stage 3. This grant is contingent on a few more things then the last grant, including that you must have employees and must be registered for JobKeeper. Our partners at HR Advice Online have provided an update in relation to managing COVID-19 from an employer perspective. The information is general in nature, should you wish to provide specific advice please contact them directly via email or on 1300 720 004.
