25.01.2022 FUNDING FOR BANNOCKBURN SKATE PARK UPGRADE The Victorian Government has announced the $250,000 funding for the Bannockburn Skate Park upgrade. Golden Plains Shire was one of the 17 municipalities to receive a grant from the Community Safety Infrastructure Grants program towards safety works at the facility.... The upgrade includes: New ramps and jumps will be installed. Other skate elements such as shade shelter, drinking fountain, rock bollards, bicycle locking stands, bag storage and safety signages. Resurfacing of the existing concrete slab, with landscaping and electrical works are also included. Here's what you need to know:... The grant came from the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund Recovery Boost Program. The project will focus on creating and building community connectedness. The film will entwine personal experiences and accounts through word and prose, voice, song, visual arts, and filmography. This will be a collaborative project between Golden Plains artists, creative and community groups, including Golden Pens Creative Writers, Linton Play Reading Group, GP Arts Inc, Bannockburn Art Group, and the potential involvement of singing groups and community bands. 22.01.2022 TIME TO GET FIRE READY Summer is just around the corner, which means our community has to be mindful of the risks in our region. Here are some simple guidelines for property owners to follow in order to minimize risk: Cut grass to a maximum height of 300 millimetres during the non-fire season, and then to a maximum height of 100 millimetres during the Fire Danger Period, or as directed under a Fire Prevention Notice.... On properties more than two hectares, ensure the grass is maintained to no higher than 100mm up to a minimum of 20 metres from the house or outbuilding. Remove any flammable material around the home, including cleaning out gutters. Clear dead undergrowth and fallen branches. Ensure any firewood is stored well away from the house or outbuildings. But this October, confidence has boomed in the Australian housing market after a Westpac consumer survey recorded an"extraordinary" surge.... It showed that house price expectations and "time to buy a dwelling" index bounced back in the past month.
