25.01.2022 Last week we helped a single dad with an 8 year old girl Taylah via some of his friends. This is the first time Taylah will sleep in a bed and we wanted to make it pretty pink themed We hoped you liked it Taylah. When is the last time you went out of your way to help a stranger? Or even someone you know but it was unexpected? Its the best feeling, not only does it make their day but you will feel so much better after it yourself. Go out of your way and start the week off by helping someone today, it can be as little as helping someone across the street or buying the person behind you their coffee lets spread some positivity this Monday!

21.01.2022 What an amazing afternoon to celebrate Seniors Week we held an afternoon tea for 40 of our local elderly. One of our volunteers Audrey-May has been working on this for quite a few weeks, she put in for a grant to Bundaberg Regional Council to fund the afternoon, after finding out just last week we had been granted the funding. It was a quick turn around, but she and the other volunteers did an amazing job!! Everyone had a wonderful afternoon, we had background music but you couldnt hear it over all the chatting and laughing thank you to Audrey, all the volunteers and the council for making this afternoon happen. We need to do it again! @ Angels Community Group

20.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our favourite boss! You are one inspiring woman, hard working, patient, kind and the most generous person we know! Thank you for all that you do for not only us staff but the community too! We hope you have a wonderful day...with all of us at work

19.01.2022 As we were locking up to leave work we found a young man asleep on the path outside the store. We rang for assistance and while waiting for them we laid a warm jacket over him. We looked up and one of our wonderful workers was bringing a blanket and pillows for him. The ambulance arrived and assisted him and we gave him a drink and some food. We dont know his story or what brought him to this way of life. Its not our business. But we had the ability to give him a helping hand and I know I am appreciating my warm house a little more tonight. We arent telling this story for any other reason but to encourage you all not to judge others we havent walked in their shoes.

17.01.2022 Happy 5th Birthday to us!! Thank you Bundy for the last five years, it has been bigger and better then we ever imagined. July 5 years ago Sue and Kerri started Angels Community Group with a different vision in mind to what we are today, but with the dream to create an organisation to help not just the community but the people who worked and volunteered there. Well as someone who works for Angels today I can say wholeheartedly they have done that and so much more. ... We started as a training and educational service as that was Sue and Kerris background but today we are so much more then that. Today we are proud to help all members of the community, make everyone feel welcome and feed thousands of people a year. We are extremely proud of our Christmas hampers, Santa assistance and our back to school program. Three programs that make us most excited every year. We are extremely proud to do all of our charity work with no funding or help from the government but from our amazing community of Bundy. To celebrate this week we have 50% off in Second 2 None all week, this includes brand new and pre loved clothing, shoes, linen ect. Angels Mini Mart is having 5 big specials for 5 days. Shop instore at either Second 2 None or the Mini Mart and go in the draw to win a $50 voucher for the stores. (One $50 voucher for each store will be drawn) Oh and fun fact we hit 5000 on Facebook this week too!!! How cool!

16.01.2022 We had such a great response to our call out for volunteers for the school lunch program! The ladies started this week and what an amazing bunch we got on board! They smashed out 173 lunches for 9 different local schools. Our trainee Christie has taken this project under her wing recently organising the produce and everything needed! We are proud to see Christies growth since starting 6 months ago! Thanks Christie for all your hard work and the ladies for jumping on board!

16.01.2022 Angels Community Group was started to really help the people working and training here and over the years it changed direction and our focus turned to helping the community more with food insecurity. We have a lot less volunteers now and more paid staff but we love when we see a transformation in our staff and volunteers. Our relationship with Chelsea over the past few years has been amazing and we are so proud of her. Chelsea started volunteering a few years ago by picking ...up bread here and there when her partner was doing a traineeship with us. The more she came in the more responsibilities she took on, then last year Chesea started her own traineeship at Angels and ended up running the support centre on her own. We have very mixed emotions now, Chelsea has gotten a job in the field she has been working towards, we are so happy and excited for her but at the same time sad and miss her already!! This is the reason Angels started, to give people a purpose and time to grow while they work on their confidence and gain skills to step back into the work force. People leave the workforce for many reasons and its scary to get back into it sometimes. If your interested in a traineeship at Angels keep an eye out...there may be something coming up soon *wink wink*

16.01.2022 We are starting to say goodbye to our 8 trainees we have worked with for the last 6 months!! They are apart of a training and education program with the end goal of finding them long term employment. We are excited to share that Kate is starting her new job Friday!! Kate deserves this opportunity like no one else. She comes into work every day with a smile on her face and a can do attitude! We are always letting our trainees know about different employment opportunities and Kate always has a great attitude towards looking for work and giving it a go. We all know how uncomfortable job interviews are but Kate didnt let that stop here! We are so proud and excited!! Dont be a stranger Kate!!

13.01.2022 Angels Food Cart We are bringing back some of your old favourites this week but would love to know what you want to see on next weeks menu. We like to change the menu weekly to keep it fresh and interesting. Is there something we have done before you want to see again or something you have tried in another city that you would love to have again but no where in Bundy does it? Let us know!! We want to do the food you want to eat! Angels Food Cart is open Tuesday-Saturday, 1...0am-2:30pm at 71 George Street Bundaberg. Sticky Pork Belly Bao Buns $9.50 Eye Fillet Steak Sandwich with Truffle aioli meal deal $12.50 Garlicky Prawns and Chorizo with crusty Sourdough and baked Corn $10.50 @ Bundaberg, Queensland

13.01.2022 We have been getting loads of messages about Christmas! It’s definitely our favourite time of year and also our busiest. We are busy working behind the scenes getting everything prepared. As we all know Christmas is extremely difficult for a lot of families, it’s a time full of anxiety and worry, with them not knowing how they will get food on the tables and presents under the tree. We are doing our annual Christmas hampers again this year but not taking names just yet. We w...ill start taking names the 23rd of November. (More details to come) We will also be asking the community to jump on board and support the hampers again but more details to come of that soon. However please think of us when you are thinking about giving back this year, without your assistance there would be no hampers. Everyone over here at Angel’s is super excited for ourselves but also for helping so many families again!

12.01.2022 Did you know we give away free bread, fruit and vegetables at our small grocery store, Angels Mini Mart? We have free bread 99% of the time and free veg most days of the week depending how fast it goes. This is for two reasons, the main one being to help people in need and help stretch the dollar further. ... The other reason is to combat food waste in our local area, a lot of this food especially the bread would be dumped if we did not pass it on to others. We are very lucky to be supported by local farmers, dicky bills and cross farms being our two biggest, consistent donors. Tjs bakery who donate multiple times a week and selected Woolworths and Coles donate multiple times a week also. Thank you thank you thank you to these business who care about our community and go out of their way to contribute every week. Angels Mini Mart is open 6 days a week at 45a Walla Street. We sell discounted groceries, everyone is welcome to shop with us. This store is our main money maker and pays the bills to keep the charity work going. We urge you to come in and check out the store. Shop local, support business that support the community.

11.01.2022 We want to take a minute to thank Jazz our social media lady for all she does. It didn’t take long before Jazz went from just social media to website to on line shopping design. With no experience she has done an amazing job. She manages to do our marketing, arrange fundraising, design cafe and van menus from the Netherlands and just be an all round support for the Angel Team. Her support gets the team through some tough times and she manages to solve problems from the other... side of the world. Jazz is the one you often speak to on messages. She lets us get away with nothing as she can spot the craziest smallest detail in a photo (no matter how hard we try to hide it lol). Her passion is our community work and she keeps us on track reminding us why we are here. Thanks Jazz, stay safe, have fun and come home to us next year. We miss you See more

11.01.2022 On Monday we celebrated Patos birthday! She has been with us since the start...well actually long before the start of Angels, Sue and Pato worked at Impact for 8+ years before Pato came and joined Sue at Angels! Shes crazy, quirky, a pocket rocket and we love her!! Now back to work you two!! @ Angels Community Group

10.01.2022 Between 17th of August and 4th of September we gave out a whopping 145 emergency food hampers. Thats about 48 hampers a week. That is a bit of a scary number, with so many families in our community doing it tough at the moment. We are so grateful to our volunteers down at the support centre who make this possible. We have been fortunate enough to receive @foodbankqld hampers which we add other bits and pieces to personalise the hampers if needed to suit the families needs ...when possible. With the Corona Virus situation FOODBANK has donated a few pallets worth of hampers which has been a huge help and relief. Our emergency food relief is our most consistent and needed initiative we do. Unfortunately there will be some changes to this over the next few months as we move buildings and a lot is going to change for Angels Community Group, Mini Mart, Foodcart, Second 2 None, Mini Mart Caf, everything. However none of it is leaving for good, just temporary changes while we move and expand. Further details to follow in the next few weeks.

10.01.2022 We had fun getting to know all our new trainees, we posted about them on our website, if you want to get to know them you can have a read too! https://www.angelscommunitygroup.com/training-education

10.01.2022 If you are interested in this weeks Angels Food Cart menu you can either check out our Instagram or if you dont have Instagram here is a link to the website with the menu! https://www.angelscommunitygroup.com/angels-food-cart

10.01.2022 Angels Support Centre and Angels Food Cart are both closed today, Tuesday 4th of August due to the electricity being turned off for the day. Both will be open tomorrow, Wednesday. See you all tomorrow

09.01.2022 Sue and Pato had such a great time on Wednesday chatting and spending time with the student school leaders of Kepnock State High School. They did an amazing job organising a food drive and fundraising at a school event. They raised a whopping $711 and donated bags and boxes of non perishable goods. This was a student lead initiative and will go directly towards our emergency food hampers. We have built great relationships with a few schools around town, making connection through our school lunch program (primary schools) and prom/formal program (high school) and back to school backpack program (primary & high). So when they get on board and donate their time to fundraising for Angels it is so special, we love seeing the younger generations get on board! Thank you to the students at Kepnock and the teachers who encouraged this.

09.01.2022 Trying to get a photo of our trainees at their graduation/leaving party was like wrangling a bunch of preschoolers except the preschoolers would probably listen better We are really proud of this group of trainees, we started with 10 trainees a couple dropped off due to covid but 8 stayed on and we recruited another young lady to join. Covid was/is a scary time but these guys did awesome, they stayed on, worked hard, completed their certificate I in Retail and had fun along... the way. We are proud to have reached all our KPIs with 10 trainees completing their certificates and 7 gaining employment. We will miss the ones that have found employment but incredibly proud of them. We will be keeping a few on so you will see their faces around. We would love to hire them all but financially thats not possible. Other employers will be lucky to have them apart of their team. @ Angels Community Group

09.01.2022 Angels Support Centre is open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday offering a safe space to sit, read a book, make a tea or coffee, watch a show, have a snack and take your time. We also offer emergency food hampers and give away pre loved furniture from the centre. The centre is manned solely by volunteers at the moment and we couldnt be more grateful for them A big shout out to @alowishus who donate sandwiches, wraps and salads at the end of each day that we put in the fridge each... morning for people in need to access easily. Tjs Bakery also donate three days a week, sweets and savoury goods we wrap up and put out for snacks. These two local businesses make a big difference to our support centre, a lot of places would just throw the food out at the end of the day but instead they donate them to a charity and help out locals who deal with good insecurity every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generosity and empathy Angels Support Centre will be temporarily closing in a few weeks {when we know exact dates we will let you know} as we move buildings but our aim is to make the transition as quick and smooth as possible but there will be an interruption unfortunately. @ Angels Community Group

09.01.2022 Our Santa Assistance bags haven’t arrived just yet, (they should be here next week) so we haven’t reached out to businesses, schools, daycares ect yet. However we have already started receiving donations for Angels Santa Assistance (food hampers and presents) through Angels Mini Mart. We have a shelf set up that you can purchase donations from while your are doing your regular shop. Please keep Angels Santa Assistance in mind this year when you are thinking of how to give back. Last year alone we helped feed 160 local families for Christmas Day. We are not government funded in any way for our charity work so rely on your generosity. Registration for hampers open on the 23rd of November.

09.01.2022 On Friday night we dropped some dinner off to a group fundraising for the homeless, then on Saturday Kelly and Sue headed down and cooked them up a warm breaky. They slept out under the stars on cardboard, to raise awareness for the homeless. It’s a little tricky to explain but most of the fundraising has to do with another group in town but we were lucky to have Stephen Bennett jump on board and fundraise for us. He raised enough money for 14 backpack bed, they are currently on back order but we have 4 on their way. (We will order more as they become available) Thank you so much to everyone that donated and Stephen for jumping on board. We will make sure these beds go to people who really need them in our local community.

09.01.2022 I think the adults has more fun today then the kids!! We had Gail from second 2 none, Greg the driver and Kelly from the Mini Mart all in theme today! No angels here today

08.01.2022 Okay woah we opened registrations today for Angel’s Santa Assistance, (Christmas hampers) and we already have 88 families on the list. If you are needing assistance please come in store this week to register. (Best in best dressed) Please like, share and comment on this post to spread the message around to those who need it.

06.01.2022 We are so excited to have our first Seniors Afternoon Tea, in celebration of Seniors Week. We are looking forward to a great afternoon and hope you will come join us. There are limited numbers so a ticket is essential, if you are interested please go into Second 2 None at 45a Walla Street to pick up a free ticket. If you think your Mum, Dad, Aunty, Uncle or Grandparents would be interested please let them know as a lot of our seniors dont have social media. Thanks to Bundaberg Regional Council who will be funding this event.

05.01.2022 The volunteers have been working hard getting the space ready for the Seniors afternoon tea on Monday. They have done an amazing job, the tables looks beautiful we hope the seniors will have a wonderful afternoon

05.01.2022 We love how involved our local high schools and students are with our charity work. This time its Bundy High, they invited us along to come and chat to them a few weeks ago about the work we do in community and services we provide. They are planning an end of year disco with the funds raised through it to be donated to us. Thank you so much guys, hope you have an awesome night! With this in mind I want to ask a question and would love to hear your thoughts. I find it interes...ting that we have so many schools contact us, wanting to get involved and either volunteer or fund raise for us. However we rarely have work places which are full of adults offering the same thing. Not saying we need that and very grateful for the schools doing it, but it shows we are teaching our young people to be involved in charities and give back but do we? We have individuals donate and business (usually the actual owners not to employees) I would love to know, with NO judgement I promise, but just really interested in the answer. Do you give back? And if yes then how? (Doesnt have to be to us, can be any charity or cause) Is it a regular thing or a one off? Do you prefer to give money over the internet to the big charities or donating an item in person? Or is it something you wish to do more but not sure how? Would love to know even if you choose not to donate to charities, your reasoning?

05.01.2022 Last time we gave a shout out to the ladies but this time its all about the guys! Some of these guys have been volunteering for Angels for years and some have just started but all of them make our jobs so much easier! These are the guys who pick up and drop off all the furniture donations, free vegetables and help bring down all the stock for Angels Mini Mart. We dont have forklifts so there is a lot of heavy lifting, moving and rearranging and they are always here to get in and get it done! Thanks guys!

05.01.2022 It is MOVING DAY, well the first of quite a few moving days. Angels Support Centre will be temporarily closing. Thursday 17th September will be our last day at our current centre. We wont be doing any emergency hampers for 1-2 weeks however Angels Mini Mart will still be giving away free fruit, veg and bread, so please come in and grab some if needed.

04.01.2022 We are looking for 10 new trainees, all of the details below! Pop into Second 2 None from Monday 21st to register your expressions of interest. Please tag your friends or family that may be interested in this and share it around for us to get the word out. Thank you in advance.

03.01.2022 Have you tried our Double Beef and Bacon Jam burger this week? It tastes as good as it looks! For a burger, chips (best in town) and a can only $12.50 We are at 71 George Street Bundaberg, open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-2:30pm!

03.01.2022 We always have new faces around Angels volunteering their time, doing work experience and community service. At the moment we have Michael who is completing a certificate III in Community Services Volunteering, and doing his work experience with us. We always try to teach them our message about accepting everyone who walks through the door and not judge them for the situation they are in, hopefully everyone leaves feeling better then they came. It’s always a bit hectic with new faces coming and going but we love it!!!

02.01.2022 Its always a sad day when we lose a crew member but its exciting for Cindy and her daughter Amanda. Cindy started volunteering for us about two years ago in the Mini Mart. She has the best attitude towards work, she gets in and gets the job done! She puts us young ones to shame with how hard she works and how damn strong she is because of her amazing work ethic she ended up working for us and running the mini mart. However now its time to say goodbye as she moves closer to her other daughters to spend time with her new grandbabies . Thank you Cindy for all hard work as a volunteer and then valued staff member! Dont be a stranger and come visit us when your in Bundy next

01.01.2022 Angels Food Cart now has its own instragm so if you want to keep in the know with new menus, give aways and all food cart news go give it a follow!
