25.01.2022 So it has started, the Anzac Day driveway photos. Keep them coming! Share the Spirit!

25.01.2022 Rest in peace. The Very Reverend Don Barter passed peacefully to the Lord today. Funeral details are yet to be be made. Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord, And let light perpetual shine upon him.

25.01.2022 God is moving in the hearts and spirits of people everywhere, but we dont always notice when the media is full of dark statistics. So I challenge followers to share how God moves in you. The picture shows a place which touched deep into a parishioner, and made her very aware of the beauty, the truth, the reality of God. What makes your heart lift, your spirit say yes? It might only be a fleeting experience before we start thinking of things again. But now is the time to... pause and notice how God is touching into you. Send in pictures to me (or just email me with a few sentences) and I will collate it and share - all anonymously of course. Is it nature that stirs the spirit, or your loved ones, or reading Scripture, or making something, hanging out washing? God touches into our lives wherever we are and in whatever we are doing. Lets share our experience to lift the spirits of others. Email me: [email protected] Spread the grace, not the virus. See more

21.01.2022 A rainbow over Hardy St today which stirred the spirits of several of our parishioners.Thousands of years ago some Jews saw something similar, and felt God move their spirits and say, "All is well. You are not alone. I am here and look-- look what simple joy I bring to you. This is for you a sign. When your heart lifts, know that I am here. I am with you always, until the end of time".

17.01.2022 Some know the serenity prayer, but the full version has a real depth of challenge as our wills are frustrated by events! But when our wills rise up, we have an opportunity for true blessings if we, as did Jesus, turn from our will to actively doing Gods will for others. Here is the prayer: God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things... which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.

10.01.2022 Dawn in a silent Holy Trinity; I miss you all. But the light comes, the bell rings, the angels sing, and in the cool of the early morning Christ comes and says, They have not gone, they have gone ahead of you, into Galilee, and they will meet me there. Wherever you are this Easter, my friends, God is with you and may you be richly blessed! Christ is risen!

10.01.2022 The Collation of Archdeacons: Venerable Dr Rosemary Dunn and Venerable Dr Kenneth Lay at St James' Cathedral, 19 August.

09.01.2022 What do you see in the picture? (Spoiler alert!) A chalice or two faces? Most people see one or another, but can we see them both simultaneously? The essence of Christianity is Christ, a God-Human, who holds in one the often contradictory divine and human worlds. We tend to see one side only- at the moment we see chaos, fear, death as the world is upended. But God is here, the kingdom of heaven is near. So lets focus on paying attention to the divine. The weather at the moment is beautiful. Turn off the media, go outside and just look. What do you see? How many lovely things? How many different greens? Different shaped leaves or clouds? All of it is reality too. And all of it made by God who continues to hold, and renew what is broken. He hasnt let go. Can you see him today?

09.01.2022 Anzac Day. Some parishioners are making wreaths for their driveways for tomorrow. Thanks Ferne for this - and do send in photos of what you are doing to decorate your gate- or of yourself holding a candle in your driveway. I will light a candle in Holy Trinity at 6 am and we will be together in prayer, as those brave men and women are with us in the prayer of heaven and earth which binds us into the eternal river of peace and thanksgiving.
