18.01.2022 Today with a heavy heart a decision was made that at this time, and going forward until further notice public worship at St Paul's' Murrurundi will cease. Please contact Reverend Wendy or Reverend Barbara if you have any question about the situation of COVID-19. The church is still here for any assistance to the Murrurundi community. May God have mercy on us as we live through this pandemic;

He is an ambassador for the Refugee Council of Australia and Chairman of the Board of Lakes Grammar, an Anglican School. Fr Rod is a passionate advocate for a number of social justice and human rights issues, including marriage equality. He believes that our treatment of Asylum Seekers, the lack of action on climate change and the failure to adequately recognize First Nations people damages our corporate soul.

14.01.2022 Anglican Churches in the Diocese of Newcastle to cease public worship with immediate effect Earlier today the GPs of the Hunter region joined with other medical... practitoners urged citizens to take unprecedented action for their self-care and the care of the community. They echo the voices of many medical leaders in saying, "Protect yourself, family and community by social distancing and personal hygiene, especially by frequent hand washing and not touching your face or eyes. Avoid all social contact including family and friends, crowded venues, clubs, etc. Self isolate." I have reviewed the guidance from the Prime Minister and the advice of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. I am profoundly conscious of the age and frailty of many to whom we minister and their vulnerability. The Diocesan Bishops of NSW have been in conversation. I anticipate that in just over a week all Anglican churches in NSW will cease holding public worship.. The Diocese of Sydney has done so today. With an immense sense of grief but with an equal sense of responsibility, I have decided that we should suspend all public worship in our churches. Where it is safe to do so, churches may be open to allow people to enter for private prayer in designated areas. The bishops of NSW and this Diocese are encouraging all our churches to consider innovative care. This is a time for Christians to be innovative in their ministries of care, worship and teaching. We live in an age of unparalleled technological resources to demonstrate love and care. We shall make every effort to care for our church communities and the wider public, especially those who are isolated and vulnerable. Our welfare and aged care agencies continue their vital work of showing Christ's love in ministering to all people, especially older Australians. Please pray for those affected and their families, health workers and those seeking to develop a vaccine. Pray that the spread of this disease may slow. I will be in touch with you about re-opening at an appropriate time. +Peter Stuart Anglican Bishop of Newcastle

11.01.2022 Bishop Peter Stuart will be visiting St Pauls’ Church Murrurundi this coming Sunday 18th August 2019. Please come and join us at our service to be held at 9.00am followed by Morning Tea in the church grounds.

10.01.2022 Newcastle Anglicans have joined in signalling strong support for LGBTIQA+ Australians, along with a range of affirmative motions. The Synod gave strong support ...for changes to church rules that would allow clergy to bless same-sex marriages and protect clergy in a same-sex marriage from church discipline. Bishop Stuart gave a formal address saying, Faithful Christians within the church who recognise the authority of Holy Scripture do not have a consensus view on how LGBTIQ+ people, especially LGBTIQ+ Christians, are to be engaged, embraced and supported... To be a Diocese that affirms comprehensive Anglicanism means that we are willing to live with the fact that there are people with whom we disagree." "I am very conscious of the harm that has been done by the church to LGBTIQ+ people and those who love them. Our conversations have often come over as demeaning. In each LGBTIQ+ person, as in all people, we see the image of God God bearing himself to us. That simple fact should shape our discourse.

09.01.2022 MURRURUNDI QUIET MORNINGS 2020 Dear Friends, Following, some information regarding the Murrurundi Quiet Mornings for 2020. ... After some group discussion at the end of 2019, we have decided that it is important to keep the "quiet" in the Quiet Mornings. We had some good and robust debate around various topics last year, but this cut into reflection and prayer time, and the group felt it would be important to recapture some more quiet time in 2020. We also acknowledged that good discussion and debate is important as well! With this in mind, we would also like to have an additional day (time TBA) for discussion on the subject of "Baptism - social ritual or sacrament". We will establish a date and format for this discussion (and perhaps others) after we begin our meetings for this year. Thank you to all who suggested topics for the Quiet Mornings in 2020. Our dates and topics are:- Saturday 4th April "Jesus Final Words", reflecting on Jesus words from the cross. Saturday 2nd May "Gifted by the Spirit", reflecting on being empowered by the Holy Spirit Saturday 4th July "Ways of Prayer", reflecting on various methods of prayer (co-facilitated by Rev'ds Wendy and Barbara) Saturday 1st August "Our Home is in Heaven", reflecting on the promise of eternal life AND Date TBA (perhaps November) - Discussion Day "Baptism - social ritual or sacrament" Quiet Mornings start at St Paul's Murrurundi Hall from 9.30am. Please bring something to share for lunch. For more information, please contact Fr Glen on 0412 003 898. We look forward to seeing you in 2020. With regards, St Paul's Ministry Team
