24.01.2022 Advent 1 - Hope

24.01.2022 Throwback Wednesday! We don't have many photos from the 1980's or earlier, but here is one from 1982 showing our wonderful "Church School". Our Church School used to run every Wednesday afternoon with some weeks numbers running as high as 30-40 children. With many thanks to all the volunteers who helped run this for many years. If you, or any family member, have any photos from the 80's you would like to share with us, please let us know.

24.01.2022 Diocesan Morning Prayer this Sunday! All welcome to join. PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS REPLACING OUR USUAL PARISH SUNDAY RECORDED LITURGY.

23.01.2022 Our service for the 24th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday November 15th) has been recorded at the 9.00am Eucharist at Christ Church, Kilmore. Parts of the service have been edited out deliberately to allow those worshipping to pray privately.

22.01.2022 From Bishop Clarence..... Dear Clergy, Laity and Friends of the Diocese of Wangaratta, Our sincere apologies to all those who were not able to connect or be admitted to the Diocesan Service through the Zoom App this morning. It is truly heart-warming to know that so many were going to connect and I have already made arrangements to upgrade our participant list to accommodate 300 persons. This morning was a real manifestation that we are the Body of Christ and that we are toge...ther even when separated due to border and lockdown restrictions. Once again, my apologies. Our thanks to the Dean, The Very Revd Ken Goodger for arranging this service from the Mother Church of our Diocese and for the splendid music and participation. Thank you to all those who offered to be involved in leading the different sections of the service and for all those who managed to be part of it. It was a proud and very special moment for me as the Bishop of the Diocese. Please remember our Wednesday Morning Prayer service at 9:30 for which a service and a link will be sent out by Monday afternoon and I can guarantee you that should we exceed 100, that all will be accommodated. Every blessing, + Clarence

22.01.2022 Online Morning Prayer with our Clergy and laity around the Diocese this Wednesday at 9.30am.

21.01.2022 Good morning all. During the lockdown of the Coronavirus pandemic, our church buildings were closed and our services recorded for you at home. Our church buildings have now reopened with limited numbers but for the time being, we will continue to publish a recorded service. This will be taken from the public worship at Christ Church on a Sunday morning, and because of this, the edited published version won't be available until a little later. Please continue to follow us, the recording will come at some stage today!

21.01.2022 Our Morning Prayer for the 20th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday October 18th) is our fortnightly Taizé Service.

20.01.2022 The Gospel Reading for the 19th Sunday after Pentecost. Our Gospel photos this week come from Christ Church, Beechworth. We pray for their parish priest Canon Thomas Leslie, and for their parishioners and those in the community.

20.01.2022 Our "Throwback Wednesday" this week only goes back to 2012 when the parish celebrated the 150th anniversary of St Matthew's Broadford. To celebrate the occasion, the choir from Trinity College, Melbourne were invited up, as the Chaplain at the time, the Rev'd Andreas Loewe (now currently the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral) was the Chaplain of Trinity as well as the Gavan Lecturer. Our own Gavan Hall in Broadford was named after Emily Gavan who bequeathed 650 to Trinity College "for the better education of young men intending to become clergymen.

19.01.2022 "The cross is a symbol of hope......" says Bp Clarence in his sermon during Morning Prayer "Zoom" this morning. Here is part of his sermon, including the two hymns he quoted.

19.01.2022 Each year the church celebrates the Feast of St Francis on October 4th. St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and environment could be viewed as the original Earth Day advocate. Francis' devotion to God was expressed through his love for all of God's creation. Our 'throwback Wednesday' this week covers the many ways the parish has celebrated the Feast of St Francis or Creation Sunday from 1981 to 2019. Hopefully by 2021 we will be able to celebrate again in our church buildings.

19.01.2022 The parish remembers with love Fr Leslie Piva (and wife Veronica and their boys) who was the Priest-in-charge at Broadford as well as being the ITIM Chaplain from 1983 to 1991. Fr Leslie and Veronica originated from the Solomon Islands and brought with them much love and warmth to all who knew them. The family moved to a Mission in Lockhart River in Queensland in 1991. The parish has since renamed the Rectory they lived in at Broadford "Piva House" in recognition of Fr Leslie...'s ministry there. Over the years this has been rented out, but in more recent years was the home of Rev'd Maryann Leonard who was the Assistant in the parish from 2015 - 2017. If anyone has any photos of Fr Leslie's ministry in the parish which they could lend the parish to scan and return, this would be very much appreciated. At this stage, the photo here is the only one the parish has of Fr Leslie. See more

18.01.2022 The Gospel Reading for the 12th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday August 23rd) can be found below. The Gospel photos this week come from St Margaret's Cobram. The parish is currently without a full time Priest, so we pray for the Wardens and people as they plan for the future.

17.01.2022 Our Morning Prayer for the 17th Sunday after Pentecost on Sunday 27th September 2020.

17.01.2022 The Gospel Reading for the 18th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday October 4th). Our Gospel photos this week come from St Mary the Virgin, Rhossili in South Wales. We pray for their priest and people in that community.

16.01.2022 During our isolation and safe distancing, one of our ways of connecting with other parishioners is via our "Zoom" chat at 2.00pm each Friday. If you are a parishioner and would like to join us, please let Fr André know or email: [email protected] and we will include you in the "Zoom" invitations. We have had lots of parishioners turn up, and sometimes only a few, but it is always good to catch up with others while our church buildings are closed.

16.01.2022 Our weekly Diocesan Morning Prayer this Wednesday 16th September. All welcome to join in.

16.01.2022 Our Diocesan 'online' Morning Prayer - Wednesday 23rd September. All welcome to join.

15.01.2022 We would never have thought that 16 years ago when we launched our Parish website, what a useful commodity it would be in 2020. Parish Priest at the time, Fr Martin Johnson held a special 'launch blessing' at Christ Church, followed by a celebratory supper. Our Parish website (www.anglicankilmore.org.au) has been wonderful during this time of Coronavirus and isolation with our church buildings closed. The website is a one stop shop to pick up the Pew Sheet; listen to the Sunday gospel being read to you; our Sunday Liturgy recording is available each Sunday; Parish updates as to whether our buildings are open for worship or closed; and so much more. It might not seem much in 2020, but in 2004 it was quite a big move for our 160 year old parish!

15.01.2022 Our Diocesan online Morning Prayer this Wednesday 2nd September. All welcome to join.

15.01.2022 Thank you Clymac. Great job.

14.01.2022 How blessed are we??? What an absolute joy it is to be able to work in conjunction with the Kilmore Community Garden group. God and social media work in mysterious ways.... through connections with Facebook members of the Kilmore Community Garden group, a wonderful relationship has recently been formed. Kilmore Community Garden group needed some land, and our parish wanted to reach out into the community, and "just like that" a great working relationship has been created. Last night the group met at Christ Church to plan a way forward to involve the local community in such a project. Watch this space for further updates, or checkout the Kilmore Community Garden facebook page. As a parish we are proud to work in conjunction with our local community.

14.01.2022 Our monthly Quiet Morning Meditation can be found on our website - https://anglicankilmore.squarespace.com/s/Quiet-Meditation- Sadly we are still unable to be in our church buildings, but find a quiet spot to be with God as you go through this months Meditation.

14.01.2022 The Gospel reading for this Sunday 8th November (23rd Sunday after Pentecost). Our Gospel photos this week come from St George's Numurkah. We pray for their Parish Priest - the Rev'd Victor Adams, and their parishioners and community.

14.01.2022 Our Gospel reading for this Sunday 6th August (the 14th Sunday after Pentecost), can be found here. This week our Gospel photos come to us from the Parish of Benalla, with Holy Trinity, Benalla; St Paul's, Goorambat and St Aidan's in Swanpool. We pray for their Parish Priest, the Rev'd Maryann Leonard, and their communities and parishioners.

14.01.2022 Our service for this Sunday 20th September (16th Sunday after Pentecost) can be found here. Apologies in advance - the prayers were edited following the recording as we were competing with the church lawns being mowed outside the building and could not be heard (not complaining though as it is lovely to see our church grounds looking so good). For the full prayers, please see the Pew Sheet on our Parish website: www.anglicankilmore.org.au

13.01.2022 The weekly Diocesan Morning Prayer is at 9.30am today. Click on the link below to join in. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84763048629

12.01.2022 To our lovely Parish Priest Fr André and Patty DuPlooy; our Bishop Clarence and Michelle Bester and their families; and all our other Diocesan clergy of South African heritage - we wish you "Happy South African Heritage Day" today. We are proud to share your heritage with you and to learn of what makes you who you are. God bless you and your families.

11.01.2022 At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, in the 11th month of 1918, the guns fell silent and World War I came to an end. On Remembrance Day we stop to remember all who have died in times of war and honour those who sacrificed so much for the cause of peace, freedom and justice. We honour today their bravery and courage. Heavenly Father, we remember with thanksgiving those who made the supreme sacrifice for us during times of war. We pray that the offering of their lives may not have been in vain. May we dedicate ourselves to the cause of justice, freedom and peace and give us wisdom and strength to build a better world. Amen

11.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. Let us take time out today to pray for those who are not OK, and those who are struggling particularly during this time of the pandemic we are living through.

11.01.2022 The service for the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost (All Saints Day) for Sunday November 1st. During this service we have prayed for the souls of the faithful departed as requested by parishioners. The service was recorded when our church buildings were allowed to be opened for public worship following lockdown due to Coronavirus. All singing during this recording, is pre-recorded singing. For public safety reasons churches have been asked to refrain from singing in church at this stage.

11.01.2022 Our service this morning at Christ Church we celebrated their Feast of Title - "Christ the King". We are still not allowed to sing due to our COVID restrictions, but it was wonderful to have our Organist Kathleen play all our favourite "Christ the King" hymns. It was also a joy to have parishioners young and old participating. Technology is being a little slow today, but the recorded service will be here and on our website in the next hour or so.

11.01.2022 Our Service for the 15th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday September 13th) while our church buildings are still closed.

10.01.2022 Our Diocesan Morning Prayer this Wednesday 9th September. All welcome to join!

10.01.2022 QUALITY OF PARISH VIDEO'S!!!!! For those people who tune in each week to view our online Sunday service, and our recorded Gospel reading, you might have noticed in the last few weeks the video quality has been quite poor (ie blurry or pixelated). Unfortunately this is an "uploading to Facebook" issue, rather than the quality of the video. Well with a bit of homework and tech support from a fellow parishioner, we have worked out that if you click on the small "cog" or "wheel" at the bottom of each video, the 'Quality' option comes up. You will need to click on HD (High Density) rather than SD (Standard Density) to view the video in the best quality. See screen print on the photo attached. Apologies that it has taken this long to work out, but you can always go back and view again! Happy viewing.

10.01.2022 Morning Prayer for the 19th Sunday after Pentecost on Sunday 11th October 2020.

10.01.2022 Our Diocesan Morning Prayer - Wednesday at 9.30am. All welcome to join in.

09.01.2022 From 1956 to 1992 the parish held a fundraising Debutante Ball every two years. We have photos of each of these Balls but sadly missing 1960. If you were a Debutante in the parish in that year and have a photo, we would love to share it. If you find yourself in any of these photos, feel free to tag yourself and share with your friends.

09.01.2022 Our service this week for the 14th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday September 6th) is our fortnightly Taizé service. Enjoy the silences, the meditative songs and the reflective music. The final song is sung by a group of six siblings from India called Joyful 6, who sang this Taizé song in five different languages to remember that we are all in this together during this time of coronavirus - it doesn't matter what country we are in. God bless them for bringing their music to us.

08.01.2022 Our Taize service for the 18th Sunday after Pentecost can be watched here. (Please note: Facebook reduces the quality of the video to Standard Definition - SD which makes the video appear out of focus. To view this in High Definition - HD (not blurry), please change the settings using the cog/wheel at the bottom of the video.

08.01.2022 Our Gospel Reading for this Sunday on the 13th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday 30th August) can be found here. The Gospel photos this week are from St John's, Mansfield. We pray for their current locum Fr Paul Dalzell, their Parish Priest elect - the Venerable Katie Inches-Ogden, and all parishioners.

08.01.2022 Our Diocesan Morning Prayer this Wednesday. All welcome to join in by clicking on the link.

07.01.2022 Random acts of kindness are often the ones so much appreciated. Whilst this photo might not look much, it is an unknown member of the local community who was found mowing our church lawn at Christ Church. Whoever you are - thank you, and God bless.

06.01.2022 Our Gospel Reading for the 16th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday 20th September) can be found here and on our parish website. The Gospel photos this week come from St Peter's Lutheran Church in Greenock, Barossa Valley, South Australia. We pray for their parishioners and community. They are currently without a Pastor at this time, and we pray that they soon find a new Pastor for their church.

06.01.2022 The creation of spring in our church grounds at Christ Church is God-given. The beauty of the colour and sweet fragrance is a joy to behold. Thank you to Carolyn H who took these wonderful photos while deadheading around the church and in our Remembrance Garden. Look at those amazing colours in God's creation.

06.01.2022 Our Gospel Reading and Sermon for Advent Sunday - Sunday 29th November 2020.

05.01.2022 Let's go "back in time" this week to 1994. At the time the local community held a Day Care for the older folk in our area, and each Christmas the Christ Church Friendship Group would get their entertaining skills polished up for a Christmas Concert. In 1994 we put on the Christmas Pantomime 'Cinderella'; had three 'Nuns' singing "My God"; and had a visit from our very own Santa on a walking frame! Good times. Anyone up for a repeat performance when we can socialise again?????

05.01.2022 Throwback Wednesday - The Gift of Refuge. In March 2014 our parish was honoured to host Tri Nguyen as he walked from Melbourne to Canberra "carrying his boat" to Parliament House. Tri and his family had come to Australia as refugees and he wanted to give back to Australia his thanks for his new home in this wonderful land. Tri and his accompanying team were an inspiration as they each spoke at various parish events of their journey that got them to this stage in their lives. We pray for all refugees who have made Australia their home, and all those currently in detention waiting to start their new life here.

05.01.2022 The Diocesan Morning Prayer "Zoom" Service starts at 10.00am. Click on link below to join in over 100 priests and parishioners across the diocese. https://zoom.us/j/93572960167

04.01.2022 The Gospel reading for this Sunday (18th october) for the 20th Sunday after Pentecost. Our Gospel photos this week come from Hereford Cathedral in the UK. We pray for the Diocese of Hereford, the Dean of the Cathedral - The Very Rev'd Michael Tavinor, and all who worship or visit there.

04.01.2022 Our Gospel reading for the 15th Sunday after Pentecost (Sunday September 13th) can be heard here. Our Gospel photos this week come from St John's Church, Hervey Bay in Queesland. We pray for their Parish Priest, Fr Gregory Loumeau and all parishioners.

02.01.2022 Welcome on board Kilmore Community Garden!

02.01.2022 We celebrate Spring's returning, and the rejuvenation of the natural world. Let us be moved by this vast and gentle insistence that goodness shall return. That warmth and life shall succeed and help us to understand our place within this miracle. Let us see that as a bird now builds its nest bravely with bits and pieces, that we must build human faith, hope and love. It is our simple duty. It is the highest art. It is our natural and vital role within the miracle of Spring. The creation of Faith, Hope and Love. Amen

02.01.2022 Our service for the 12th Sunday after Pentecost (23rd August 2020).

01.01.2022 Our first Sunday back in our Church Buildings. This morning at Christ Church, the church bell rang out loudly into the community. What a joyous sound it was announcing that we were back for public worship. We wore masks; we kept our distance; we had limited numbers; we didn’t sing; but we were happy to be back!
