23.01.2022 Whilst Eve had Dusty out yesterday Emma came over to introduce herself and I don’t think he was too impressed with her! Eve let’s Dusty out quite often in same ...place as she knows it is safe and can keep a close eye on him. Emma was very careful and was well intrigued by him not leaving until he went back into mums pouch, so amazing to see the trust Eve had in Emma to be around her baby maybe she will pick up some babysitting shift so Eve can have a break, he is certainly full of attitude See more

22.01.2022 The effectiveness of equine-assisted therapy may lie in the capacity of horses to emotionally interplay with humans, Italian researchers suggest. When you are in relationship with a horse, you may have experienced this for yourself.

22.01.2022 Seven years ago today we worked around the clock to lift 1081 gentle, vulnerable and inquisitive hens from the battery cages that had contained them for almost ...2 years and welcomed them to a life of freedom, love and kindness. Seven years ago today, I had no idea that one of those hens would leave me forever changed and would go on to change the course of our lives forever. Her name was Little Miss Sunshine and as I sit here today, teaching the recently rescued Ginger how to stand, telling her all of the wonderful opportunities and experiences that life has in store if only she can overcome the odds seemingly stacked against her, I know without a doubt that Sunshiney is up there looking down on us all. That day seven years ago is the reason Sunshine Place exists. She’s the reason we do this work that calls to our hearts.

22.01.2022 Our big boy is looking a bit brighter to day seems to be responding well to treatment . After cleaning his wound yesterday . It would seem he’s been in a fight ...maybe a week or so ago . He has a wound in his gut and some scabs around it we’re it looks like he has been kicked in the gut . Big boys will fight to the death over the position in the mob . Given its breading time I’d suggest there’s been argy-bargy over the girls from the poor boy has come out worse off. But to day he’s decently brighter and quicker on his feet. He comes to me when I take the white bucket with grass . He doesn’t like the feed bag with grass in it. A little heads up to the Volenteers don’t wall around the pen with the white feed buckets he comes up with a sprint . We are looking for a name for him . So far we call him beautiful boy See more

20.01.2022 Wallace wasn’t sitting at the back door tonight waiting to come inside like usual. That’s because he was busy being the bestest big brother anyone could ever ha...ve. This is where Silver and Frida put themselves to bed tonight and Wally didn’t move a muscle until Darin lifted them off and brought them inside. He’s so beautiful and gentle with these girls, my heart feels like it might explode See more

15.01.2022 Butterflies are a symbol of growth and change. The caterpillar fights it's way out of the chrysalis and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. Through our relationships with animals, we also can change and grow.

10.01.2022 Swans and baby signets are so beautiful to watch. We have a lake nearby where swans and their babies often stop traffic as they cross the road. Do you have swans near you?

09.01.2022 Fish make interesting companions. You can't touch them like you can other animals in your home, but they are very restful and peaceful to look at. Do yo have any fish? Share a photo in the comments. We'd love to see.

08.01.2022 Tobias has a girlfriend, he loves Monique , he will not leave her alone every time she comes to help he followed her around and just keeps hassling her for attention . How lucky are you Monique.

06.01.2022 Sarah managed to catch a video of eve and her baby dusty this morning . This is the first time eve has had dusty out of the pouch for this length of time. So a ...quick lesson on mum and Bub. Bub is 1.2 kg he is a full velvet Joey . Before he has been in and out the pouch with out hopping around . This is the size they allow them hppping, before this time the little ones bones are to soft and delicate to be mobile. You will notice eve has taken her baby dusty away for the other Roos to do this ,as to keep him safe .some of the other females can be very intolerant to another mums joeys and will try to jump on them . They recognise each other by smell . You will see if you zoom in Mum is keeping her pouch relaxed so dusty can’t get back in , she is trying to clean his back but he keeps hopping . Mum is calling him back when she feels he is moving to far . Dusty eats dirt and was eating the bark on the log. When mum is grassing he eats the grass and chaff when she is at the feeders. It’s very important that he eats dirt and bark at this age for the. Balance to his gut. You will also notice mum doesn’t move while he’s out of the pouch as not to scare him .he is to little to be expected to follow her and if she was to hop or move away he would panic . She calls him back and assists him in to the pouch and pulls her pouch muscle tight to hold him in . Hope this help to give a greater under standing of mum and Bubs development . We will continue up dates on eve and dusty’s progress See more
