08.01.2022 #DEVELOPING: ‘Sinister, smirking, almost laughing’: Young Sydney cat killer jailed 20-year-old Celina Paige Shead was yesterday sentenced to two-years jail after she pleaded guilty to the savage attack on her eleven-year-old cat named Ginger. Shead confessed to stabbing Ginger almost twenty times, before hurling his body off her Dee Why apartment, a suburb in Sydney’s northern beaches area. ... It’s believed neighbours made the horrific discovery and alerted police. Police then investigated and attended Shead’s apartment, where officers found a knife with cat fur stuck to it on a kitchen bench in the flat and spots of blood on a rug. Police prosecutor Adrian Walsh told the court the 20-year-old didn't show any remorse and allegedly told her therapist she wanted to "squish the life out of it because "it was so cute". Magistrate Mark Richardson sentenced Shead to two years jail, with a non-parole period of fifteen-months.
