25.01.2022 SHAME on the Labour Party for withdrawing support in the final few minutes! SHAME!!!

25.01.2022 Millions of hens have been condemned to cages as NSW Labor has bowed to pressure from the cruel cage egg industry! We will not stand for this - Join us this Friday the 8th of November as we demand justice for hens!

25.01.2022 Dear Newcastle Animal Liberationists, as most of you already know, traditionally we have not had a meeting in January due to the holidays and people being away etc. This year we are going to try it a different way, because from now til the start of the year, theres not a great deal happening in the Newcastle area, and I think many of us are all in desperate need of a break., so we will NOT be having a December meeting - but WILL be having a January one. That way we can all st...art fresh after a Christmas/New Year break and will all be firing to get amongst it!!!! We are still in talks as to a date and location for our Animal Liberation Newcastle Christmas party to which everyone is invited if they are a Newcastle vegan or activist., you don't have to actually be a paid member to attend, but if that comes about we will post an event page for you all to see and share. Please share so everyone knows theres no meeting tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your dedication and passion throughout 2019 joining together to fight for the animals. 2020 is going to be a huge year for the animals and environment. Much love and Merry christmas to you all and your families and furbabies xoxo See more

24.01.2022 Sorry about the video being on its side. Try giving this a go. Just go and sit in a small dark cupboard if you don't have a cage. After just ONE hour you wont like the way you feel - physically, mentally or emotionally. We have the choice to stop after an hour - but what of the millions of enslaved and imprisoned animals the world over whether it be inside a factory farm, a zoo, a circus, an animal market - ???? They cannot leave after an hour ,they are caged for their entire... lives until they die usually. I get quite anxious and panicked whenever I am in a really small space unable to move as I get quite claustrophobic. So I cant even begin to imagine the suffering these animals must go through. Have a try doing it yourself if you doubt what Im saying. Until every cage is empty - we will keep fighting for the voiceless. Thanks Darren Brollo for your commitment to the animals :)) See more

23.01.2022 Are you saying #NupToTheCup this year? Find an event near you: https://horseracingkills.com/nuptocup/

22.01.2022 Please go to the petition link below and join Animal Liberation in asking the RSPCA to remove this woman immediately as the head of RSPCA Tasmania. She clearly has some huge conflicts of interests going on when it comes to making profits from animals over their health and happiness.

16.01.2022 Most of you would all know of the fantastic work that NSW Hen Rescue and Catherine Kelaher do for our feathered hen friends. It is now their 10 year anniversary and they would love to establish their goal of having an actual sanctuary and land where they can fulfil this life long dream as well as be able to rescue so many more birds and educate many more people through their amazing work. They have somehow managed to do their fantastic work for the past 10 years while renting and having to move many many times. Lets all share and donate to this amazing cause and help a sanctuary for NSW Hen Resuce become a reality. Thanks everyone xo

15.01.2022 Hey gang, local activism opportunity tomorrow...Get your ART on and educate the community about the effects of animal agriculture on the environment. Meeting @ Subway Broadmeadow opposite HSPA @ 12.45. Chalk will be provided. We have Police permission, all details in the event description. Hope you can join us!

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, just thought Id better do a post about our Animal Liberation Newcastle meeting not being on today due to the Coronavirus and the government restrictions in place. We will not resume meetings until we are allowed to do so. Please everyone stay safe and be mindful of the guidelines that have been put in place for your and everyone else's protection. We can get through this together - but remember that being together doesn't have to mean being near someone physically. You can still communicate with your loved ones in many other ways from a safe distance. Please everyone - do the right thing and we can beat this virus. Take Care

14.01.2022 Sadly the time for submissions against this atrocity has ended but you can still sign the petition and share it please, to try and stop this from going ahead. Thanks so much to everyone who does. We just cannot let this go ahead - especially not with the history this company already has of cruelty to its pigs.

14.01.2022 It was so lovely to see some familiar faces on Saturday for our Animal Liberation Newcastle vegan BBQ at Blackbutt!!! And to finally have some face to face contact!!! We have a few people in the same families so if we take that into account we still only had 10 and weren't flexing the Covid rules!!! We were joined for lunch by a huge family of Kookaburras which made it all the more special. It was great to see you all. Thank you for coming everyone :))

13.01.2022 This is one of our Newcastle activists Sean Young, who's a member of both Animal liberation and the AJP (and a candidate for the AJP as well!!). Great story on not only his amazing muffin business, but his journey to become vegan and an activist/voluteer and what inspired him along the way. Love your work Sean. Awesome story

12.01.2022 Greyhound racing has to end. These gentle animals are so wrongly perceived by the public. They are gentle giants. If we were treating Labradors or Kelpies or some other breed we all know and love, like they are treated - people would be up in arms!!! Using animals for the sake of gambling is just WRONG on so many levels. I Love this song and video by The Mem Davis Collective. If you download it for $1 all proceeds go to Greyhound Rescue #backtheban

07.01.2022 Have your say about Horse Welfare in Australia. You don't have to own a horse to participate.......

06.01.2022 Hi all just a reminder that tomorrow theres no actual June meeting at the Joy Cummings Centre due to inside Covid-19 rules about spacing - so we are having a BBQ/Picnic at Blackbutt tomorrow at 11.30 am instead. Some of us are also going to the "Black Lives Matter" Protest in Civic Park @ 2 pm after the catchup at Blackbutt. Please go to the event page for more details about exactly where we are meeting and what to bring. Hope to see everyone there then !!! Miss you all so much and cant wait for a catchup!!!!!

06.01.2022 Hi fellow Animal Libbers, sadly due to current indoor restrictions due to Covid -19, the Joy Cummings centre where we hold our meetings is still not letting it be rented out as indoors there must be 4 square metres per person and they arent really large enough spaces for that to happen should more than around 8 people turn up. So there will be no July meeting tomorrow but sometime during the month we will send out emails asking for topics for the August meeting agenda, so if ...theres something close to your heart that you'd like to see some activism done on - please give me some feedback!!! Or if theres an issue in our local Hunter/Newcastle area that concerns animals then please contact me about it. Also if there are any Newcastle area activists who are not on our email list please contact us to be added, if you would like to be. Will also try to organise a social get together during the month of July, but I am just too overloaded to do it this weekend sorry plus Ive come down with a cold so don't want to go near anyone and spread it so need to isolate myself atm..... Love and peace to you all xoxo See more

05.01.2022 Hey gang! This is a call to armsThe NSW Labor Party has in the 11th hour withdrawn support for a phase-out and ban of the Battery Cage System. They have failed millions of hens, right now, incarcerated for their short lives and kept as slaves for egg production. If you’ve ever been inside one of these sheds, you’ll be able to imagine the misery and suffering?! If you haven’t, and that will be the majority reading this, take the time to imagine this level of incarceration for... an instant, then an hour, then a day, then a week and then for an entire lifetime. This is a blight on humanity! Please join AJP this Friday as we protest at the office of local Labor member for Maitland and shadow Minister for Primary Industries, Jenny Aitchison, who decided to support the cruel egg industry. SHAME JENNY AITCHISON!!! Animal Justice Party NSW, are hopeful that this decision could still be reversed. You don’t need to be a long-time activist, and you don’t even need to be a veganShow your support for a better future, let’s step forward together to create a more compassionate world that says no to such abhorrent animal abuse! This Friday, 12-1pm. For the millions of hens condemned to a lifetime of suffering. Please join us! See more

04.01.2022 NO NEWCASTLE MEETING TODAY!!! Hi all just a quick reminder (you probably all realised when i didn't post the Feb meeting it wasn't on) - theres no meeting today. The reason being is that the place we use for meetings has been taken over by another group and when I was fixing it all up at the start of the week she mentioned the air con was broken and being fixed next week so due to it being 38 + today I decided to can it and we will have our next meeting on March 7th. In the mean time if theres events or stuff I need to tell our members I will post it here and also into the group chat we have going........Have a lovely February. Hope to see you all next on Saturday March 7th 2 - 3.30 PM. Stay cool everyone in this heat and please make sure your animals are cool as well.........

04.01.2022 Hi everyone Im so sorry for the late notice but over the past 3 weeks or so Ive been quite sick and was in hospital for almost a week as well. I just remembered its August 1st today and therefore the Newcastle Animal Liberation meeting date. Unfortunately the rooms we use are still unavailable, and Ive just been too unwell to organise anything for this month anyway. For next month we may look at either holding it outside somewhere - or doing a zoom meeting.... but will defini...tely hold a September meeting in some form, so will keep you all informed as the time gets closer to then. Hopefully one of our long time members will also be taking over the meetings for a while as well while I concentrate on getting better, and delegating some of the many responsibilities I have to some other people, to make my life a little more balanced. Once again Im so sorry for the late notice and hope no one has been inconvenienced because of it. Happy August to everyone xoxo See more

03.01.2022 Please make the surrounding environment safe for all animals - your pets and the natives as well. Please read post below.......

01.01.2022 Have your say about an upcoming bill that could see mulling banned by 2022!!! NOW is the time to say what you think of mulesing and the Amendment of the Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (POCTA) bill that would see it be banned in 2022 and mandatory pain relief used in the meantime. This bill would also ensure that millions of animals who have their tails docked.,ears marked or tattooed, bodies branded, horns removed or filed /cut down, and castration, receive pain relief as w...ell. If a dog was desexed like a sheep is - it would be classed as EXTREME animal cruelty - yet a sheep who can feel pain exactly the same as a dog or human can - is expected to endure this torture. Think of this video the nextime you pull on your wooden jumper. Can you be sure the wool used has come from a sheep who did not suffer ? Please spend 5 minutes sending this important letter of support for the bill to your MP. Just click on the photo and you'll be taken to a video to show you how mulesing is done - and a form you can send to your local MP to have your say. See more
