25.01.2022 Just a quick check in. Dropped some supplies at the BlazeAid shed in Richmond this morning then got back on the road bound for Julia Creek. Roads still cut direct from Richmond so headed down to Winton, across to Kynuna and up. Perfect white clouds hung in the brilliant blue sky, and the sun bathed vast paddocks of bright green. The apparent perfection of the landscape was betrayed only by the carcasses of dead cattle peppered along the road and dotted throughout paddocks, p...iled in corners and caught in fences. It was surreal, and only the beginning. We caught up with some good friends for some beers over dinner, and pored over photos of the station that was once my home, and that is now a collection of roofs seemingly floating amongst an inland ocean. There were cattle there. Once upon a time. Tomorrow we head out to start trying to piece things back together the best we can.

25.01.2022 When our community loves Bailey as much as we do

24.01.2022 Do you recognise this precious face? This sweet cuddly girl was found out towards Bald Hills and we are trying to find her family. She is very affectionate, is desexed and in great health, but unfortunately she is not microchipped. If you recognise her, please give us a call at the clinic on 41654999. If she is not claimed within a week, she will be placed up for adoption. Please share this post so we can get this little girl home.

24.01.2022 Got the BEST news today! Remember MJ? Well hes started to shuffle around to graze! Best news EVER! Thanks for the update Hayley!

22.01.2022 This is gold!!! Its starting to feel like Christmas

22.01.2022 What a great day. Headed out to Sunny Plains today to give Cliff and his young worker, Brendan, a hand pulling down busted fences that have been laid over by the force of the water running across the flat. Cleared off the debris, which was mostly grass, sticks/logs and prickly acacia (and the occasional dead kangaroo), then pulled pickets and rolled up barbed wire and sheep fencing. New three strand barbed wire fence went up in place of the buggered one. Sat down for a few beers at knock off and talked about fishing and friends, and shared a lot of laughs. Feeling pretty lucky to have spent the day with such awesome and welcoming blokes like Cliff and Brendan. Thank you both.

21.01.2022 A ray of light in a world that could use some sunshine. This is Coco, a Thai dog that beat the odds and survived distemper, thanks to the tireless work of Hand to Paw, and our friend Dr. Maew. Although I havent been able to return to Thailand in recent times, it feels good to be able to continue sponsoring the amazing efforts of those that care for these dogs. And Coco has certainly found a place in my heart

21.01.2022 What can I say about this past week? In the face of Mother Natures wrath, surrounded by the sight and smell of death, and knowing that livelihoods are on the line and dreams have been all but washed away, I have seen such beauty. I have seen strength, courage and unwavering resilience. I have seen the most beautiful smiles, felt the warmest of hugs, and been welcomed like Id just come home. Ive spent time with much loved old friends, and made some lifelong new ones. And I ...am so very grateful. With this update, I choose to only post photos that reflect the beauty of the North and the people who make this land their home. It doesnt lessen the tragedy or the challenges that they face, but there are already countless pictures circulating that put their devastation on display. So today, Im going to show you whats most important. The beauty of the North. I want to say thank you to our new friends Chris and Hayley Colston of Numil Downs, north of Julia Creek for being such amazing, welcoming and beautiful people. And to Old friends, the Blacklock family of Balootha, Julia Creek, for making it feel like Id never left. For welcoming me home. We will see you all again soon xo

20.01.2022 Just a quick update as its late and Im not long home from the clinic. Bailey is doing ok. He slept most of the day and although hes not eating a lot, he did have some dinner for me tonight. Hes very bruised and swollen and sore, but he continues to purr and give us snuggles. Thank you to everyone that has checked in on him, and also to those of you who are following his progress from far away places xo

20.01.2022 Would you LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!! Good morning!!!!! The news youve all been waiting for. Hes up! Hes purring! He ATE BREAKFAST!!! This beautiful boy will never cease to amaze me. We have taken radiographs and by some miracle, nothing is broken. He will stay on pain relief, and antibiotics to treat his infected wounds, but seeing him this morning we are expecting a full recovery. Thank you all SO much for the kindness and love you show Bailey every day. We adore this boy and to see how much he is also loved by the community is heartwarming. Thank you xo

16.01.2022 IMPORTANT: Animals Veterinary Services will be CLOSED from this Saturday 23rd February as we make our way up north to the devastation around (my home town of) Cloncurry, Julia Creek and Richmond. We will be on the ground anywhere were needed with Martin Bella and BlazeAid doing everything we can. At this stage, we will be returning and open for normal business on Tuesday 5th March. We ask for your understanding at this time and thank you for your continued support. Our phones will be diverted to another local veterinarian so you will not be left without access to vet care for urgent or emergency cases. Once again, thank you for your understanding. We feel we can help best by being there, in the middle of it, doing what we do.

14.01.2022 When your heartbeat has four legs and has been by your side for 17 years. If there comes a time when she can no longer walk, you be her legs

14.01.2022 Many of you know our beloved clinic cat, and self proclaimed Mundubbera Mascot, has been missing since Saturday. We wanted to let you know that we found him this morning, but unfortunately he was in a serious condition, having been mauled by a dog. He made a champion effort to make it back to the clinic, but when we found him he was unable to walk. He is currently in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries. Please join us and show Bailey some love to help pull him through

08.01.2022 FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!! Meet Gordon. Gordy the goat was playing on the roof of his familys car, sliding down the windscreen and on to the bonnet. Unfortunately though, jumping from the bonnet to the ground resulted in his leg being caught in the bullbar; breaking it badly. So Gordy is now in a cast. He is confined to his hospital pen where he is waited on hand and foot and enjoys daily Netflix sessions with his humans until his leg heals!

06.01.2022 Were on our way. On a mission with two of my best friends, and packed to the hilt with fencing gear, tools and vet supplies. Massive thank you to some very special people - for holding the fort at home and taking on the mammoth task of tending to our menagerie, thanks to Calena Young and Georgina Loakes. Massive thank you to my Kassulke Family for taking care of my old dog and heartbeat, Gidyea. A huge thank you to Simon Dagg - Produce for his generosity in helping us with... some much needed supplies and to my amazing mum, Marion, for her extremely generous donation toward purchasing feed for the dogs of the North. And last but certainly not least, thank you to all of our wonderful clients, and the community of Mundubbera for your support, encouragement and kindness. You are all amazing and were so grateful for your support and friendship. See more
