25.01.2022 Over the years, Ive met many women (and men) struggling with an unwelcome STD received from a once-loving partner because they felt awkward raising a subject t...hat could dampen the mood: money matters. Here are my 10 top tips to avoid sexually transmitted debt. #financialplanning #financialgoals #healthyrelationships #onyourowntwofeet https://www.thebusinesswomanmedia.com/protect-yourself-fin/

23.01.2022 Some great advice. People often ask me about legal costs and whilst mediation is an obvious way you can keep costs of separation down, these tips will help enormously too.

23.01.2022 Please enjoy this Gottman Repair Checklist for de-escalating conflict. It provides you and your partner the vocabulary to help explain how you feel and what yo...u need to do to calm down. It also helps you to decide how to come to an agreement, when to take a break, and how to show appreciation. See more

23.01.2022 Many people arent quite sure what to expect of the mediation process. Here is my step by step guide of the mediation process I use. Feel free to share with someone you think might benefit. http://avfamilymediators.com.au/the-mediation-process/

22.01.2022 Who is ready for another episode of the Happy Lawyer Happy Life podcast? This week I am sharing one of my good friends with you! She is an amazing lawyer but... more importantly an amazing person and I know you will all enjoy hanging out with her for the hour as much as I do each week! Im really proud to be interviewing my very good friend and a true inspiration of mine, Anne-Marie Rice. Like me, Anne-Marie is a family lawyer. She is well-known in the legal industry for her intellect and insight, and has held executive positions in some of family laws most significant committees. She also teaches at the University of Queensland and is one of only five women among the Australian Fellows of the prestigious International Academy of Family Lawyers. Besides her impressive career, shes also had to overcome significant health challenges that have made her reassess her approach to the legal industry and how she balances work with her family life. In this conversation she shares her journey with me and divulges plenty of wisdom on overcoming the obstacles that many people working in law are faced with on a day-to-day basis. So grab those headphones and a few snacks as you enjoy hanging out with my good friend Anne-Marie!

22.01.2022 Christmas is usually a time of happiness, family, friendships and love but I know for many separating families, Christmas can be a time of significant challenge...s. There is a never a perfect way but there are things we can all do to make these tricky times a little easier on ourselves and those around us. Yesterday my family had our Christmas Day- a week in advance! It was the only time we could all be together and it made no difference that it wasnt really Christmas Day- the kids certainly didnt mind that they were getting bundles of presents a week early! Families come in all shapes and sizes and I can promise you mine is no different but Christmas for me is a time to celebrate all that family and friends bring to our lives- the good and the challenging!

17.01.2022 What a great idea!

16.01.2022 Another win for face to face mediation today! I was part of a pro-bono mediation pilot scheme in the Federal Circuit Court today and was able to help a couple mediate a final agreement. They had tried mediation several times but never in the same room. They were calm, respectful, willing to negotiate, listened to each other and child focused. Well done to the them & the court, the Family Law Practitioners Association and The Happy Family Lawyer for getting it going.

15.01.2022 Feeling a bit reflective today as Facebook reminded me today that I've had my private practice going for 4 years. Then as I was writing this article, I realised it's 20 years at the end of this year since I finished my law degree. Read on for a bit about my 20 years of twists and turns! 14.01.2022 Looking forward to being part of a pilot program for pro-bono mediation in the Family Court today.

12.01.2022 This story is about a Canadian couple that we became friends with 16 years ago whilst on a Thai cooking class together in Chang Mai! Theyve got some great relationship advice.

10.01.2022 So true. Often mediation is an opportunity to be heard & to listen & allow the other person to be heard. You dont have to agree, just hear.

08.01.2022 Did you know that many couples live separately but in the same house for a little while (sometimes a long while) before physically separating to different houses? This can be a great time to consider using mediation to work out some short to medium term plans around how to physically separate, financially separate and make some initial plans for how the kids will see you both when you do move into different houses. Call me to find out more about how mediation could help you. Annabel 0409076040

05.01.2022 I love this story. Here is a fantastic example of separation done well (not easily) and totally child focussed. Thank you Dawn.
