25.01.2022 It's our GST - hands off NSW!

23.01.2022 A moonboot couldnt stop me hanging out with Australias future ninja warriors at West Beechboro PS yesterday. The school was able to purchase this course with a Local Schools Community Fund grant for the senior students whove been loving it since it was installed!

21.01.2022 Australia is in our worst recession since the Great Depression. One million Australians are unemployed. Another 400,000 more are expected to lose their job by Christmas. ... But the Liberals are winding back JobKeeper, cutting wages, cutting super and freezing the pension.

20.01.2022 My heart breaks hearing the stories from aged care facilities in the Eastern States. Rather than front up and take responsibility, Minister Colbeck is bumbling answers to the Senate COVID committee, walking out of debates in parliament, and refusing media requests. Where does the buck stop with the Liberals?

20.01.2022 I recently visited Birdlife WA at the Bindaree Rotary Park in Kingsley. The group have used a Communities Environment Program grant to plant 2760 native plants selected to be future food for our endangered black cockatoos. Thank you to Birdlife WA, Friends of Yellagonga and all volunteers for your efforts in looking after our environment!

19.01.2022 This R U OK Day reach out to your friends and loved ones, check in and ask the question. This year has been a tough one for a lot of us. In some cases, saying R U OK is not enough. The Government should extend the number of sessions available under the Medicare funding mental health plan from 10 20 across Australia, and release the Productivity Commission report into mental health as an urgent priority.

19.01.2022 Around this time each year theres a national Thank You for Working in Aged Care Day to celebrate the important work and care Aged Care workers provide. This year, workers have decided that thank you is not enough, and we need real change in Aged Care. The Aged Care Royal Commission has shown that the Federal Government has neglected aged care and can no longer wash their hands of it. United Workers Union is tweeting at Scott Morrison and Aged Care Minister Richard Colbeck vi...deos of aged care workers demanding that they take responsibility for the $1.7 billion they have cut out of Aged Care and the tragedies we are seeing in Victoria. Check out some of their messages at this link: https://twitter.com/unitedworkersoz

19.01.2022 Everyone whos ever had to deal with school pickups knows what a nightmare traffic is around 2.30pm! Bill, the Principal at Tapping PS, came up with a great solution - parents now have the option of their kids being supervised for another 20 minutes after school which lets them them pick them up a bit later to avoid the initial rush and spread out traffic. This "second wave" option has been working fantastically, but the only problem was on rainy and very hot days the undercover area wasnt a nice place to be. Ive supported the school installing blinds so the weather is never a reason not to use this service, and recently visited to have a look!

18.01.2022 Important update from Mark McGowan below. I can appreciate these changes have caused frustration and disappointment for some, but this is a deadly virus and we don't want to be taking unnecessary risks. I'm glad we've got a Premier who's acted on the health advice and swiftly strengthened our controlled border with SA to keep WA safe and strong.

16.01.2022 Hope is important and a powerful force. But you can't eat hope or pay the mortage with it. The Liberals love announcements and giving people hope. What we need in Perth's northern suburbs is delivery on that hope.

15.01.2022 Great news for for WA! Embarrassing for the Liberals who supported Clive Palmer. This isnt over yet. The High Court still has to decide on Clive Palmers challenge.... But the Federal Court agreed with the West Australian Government that no other measure would be as effective as the hard border at keeping coronavirus out of WA

14.01.2022 This morning one of the Liberal Ministers said on ABC radio that we should be opening our borders to some states. No one wants this situation, but do we really want to take that risk when the WA health advice is to keep the borders closed? I support Mark McGowan on this. Let me know what you think

14.01.2022 Was out in Greenwood with the fabulous Jessica Stojkovski MLA this morning for our mobile office and doorknock. Were lucky weve got Jess as part of Mark McGowans team because locals are not happy with Clive Palmer and very glad weve got a strong premier looking after our state!

13.01.2022 I can understand why the CEO of an airline wants WAs border open. I want this health crisis to be over and safe to reopen too. But while coronavirus is still a problem Im glad weve got Mark McGowan prioritising whats best for West Australians, not rich businessmen from the eastern states.

13.01.2022 Great initiative from Mark - hope some Cowan dads get to head to the zoo and have a great day tomorrow!

13.01.2022 Western Australias Chief Health Officer has recommended a further extension of Phase 4 by two months, based on the latest health advice. I wish the world wasnt in this situation and we could ease restrictions sooner, but im also incredibly glad weve got a Premier like Mark McGowan whos doing whats best for West Australians, not Clive Palmer.

13.01.2022 Tim Wilson was saying today he wants to see more cooperation between the States and Federal Govt on borders. The cooperation that I remember was when Scott Morrison and Christian Porter were cooperating with Clive Palmer to try force open WAs Border.

12.01.2022 Full time working women in Australia still earn 14% less than full time working men. We need to close the gap.

12.01.2022 Clontarf Foundation do an amazing job in our community. I attended the Deadly Attendees Cup recently and wanted to give a shout out some members of the Girrawheen academy in Parliament

12.01.2022 It was a real pleasure to join Jessica Stojkovski MLA for the unveiling of three new flagpoles at Warwick Senior High School today. First Nations students will now be greeted with these flags when arriving at school - which is really quite momentous. I was so impressed by how articulate school captains Holly and Alana were when they spoke at the unveiling, and very eager to see what their futures hold.

11.01.2022 Education and jobs go hand in hand. Thank you to those who work hard to train the next generation of tradies and critical workers. Labor will always stand with you. #TAFEday2020

11.01.2022 Good news for WA. Those arguing for open borders to support jobs just lost the argument!

11.01.2022 Yesterday changes to JobKeeper passed Parliament. From September 28, the payment for full-time employees will fall to $1,200 a fortnight, followed by a further drop at the beginning of January 2021 to $1,000. If you were a part-timer, then your payment will fall to $750 a fortnight from the end of the month, then to $650 a fortnight at the start of next year.... Im concerned about unwinding this important support for people doing it tough too quickly. Covid-19 wont have just disappeared in four weeks when these changes take effect. Labor argued in the Parliament for changes that would provide additional protection for employees, but the Government did not agree to the amendments.

11.01.2022 When my dad was in an aged care facility we considered ourselves lucky that he was well looked after. Australians shouldnt have to rely on luck. Whats happening in our aged care homes is an absolute tragedy. No one I speak to wants to see blame shifting, they want the Federal Government to step up and take responsibility to support some of our most vulnerable Australians.

11.01.2022 It was a real pleasure to present the prize to the winners of the Clontarf Deadly Attendees Cup - congratulations to Girrawheen Clontarf Academy! I met one of the Girrawheen players, Axel, who wants to play for the Eagles like his uncle Liam Ryan. If today was anything to go by hes on the right track!

10.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the dads, grandads, pops, babas, gedoos, dedoos, and significant male role models out there. You are appreciated and loved.

10.01.2022 The Liberals have been caught out using dodgy data to try and justify their plan to make it harder and more expensive for Australians to go to university. The truth is that the Liberals are jacking up fees for tens of thousands of students with no justification. Ive been fortunate, like most members of the Government, to have access to an affordable education. Going to university was what allowed a struggling single mum like me to build a better life for my family. I would never deny someone else that path to a better life by pricing them out of a degree.

10.01.2022 Theres been a lot of talk lately about some promising vaccine trials, and I really hope theyre succesful. But I think we need to be really careful about declaring "mission accomplished" before we even know if the vaccine will work, because we risk changing peoples behaviour if they believe the risks from covid-19 are reduced.

08.01.2022 I saw today that Clive Palmer is suing Mark McGowan for defamation. Apparently Clive has become the subject of "ridicule and contempt", and suffered "damage to his reputation". If hes worried about his reputation maybe he should start by cancelling his ads in the newspapers? Downplaying the risk of covid-19 to West Australians and suing to open the border is as good a way as I can think of to ruin your reputation...

08.01.2022 Kristina hit the nail on the head last night on Q&A. If youre an Aussie stranded overseas the Federal Govt is wiping its hands of responsibility and thats just not good enough.

08.01.2022 Its National Stroke Week. A stroke is always a medical emergency - and the longer a stroke remains untreated, the greater the chance of stroke-related brain damage. Thats why its important to know the signs of stroke and act F.A.S.T (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) - check this link out for the signs. By knowing the signs and acting F.A.S.T - we can all play our part.

08.01.2022 I gave Clive Palmer a dose of reality about what people really think of him in Western Australia earlier today. Let me know if youve got any more thoughts in the comments!

07.01.2022 Oh my heart Just a little something to remind us all that there is beauty in this world.

07.01.2022 Keep up the good work Mark

07.01.2022 The data backs up the approach Mark McGowan and our Labor State Government has taken. People like Clive Palmer who say we have to make a choice between business and protecting ourselves from coronavirus are just wrong - you cant have a healthy economy if you havent got a healthy state.

06.01.2022 Justice served. Thank you New Zealand. Enough said.

05.01.2022 I spoke in Parliament today about a horrific attack on a woman in Perth this week. We need to keep the converation going about the scourge of family and domestic violence, and we need to keep backing that up with action and resourcing that will reach those women in need.

04.01.2022 An important announcement from the Premier about the border arrangements with SA.

04.01.2022 400,000 Australians were wrongly targeted by the Liberals' illegal robodebt scheme. It's been a long four years for each of them. This is what happens when a government fails to take care of its people. It should never have happened. And it should never be allowed to happen again.

03.01.2022 Ive been reminded why I entered politics, by Peter Dutton of all people! Back in 2015 I was invited to a major counter terrorism conference in Spain, with a lot of former world leaders. It was pretty depressing because these political leaders spent the whole time pointing fingers and blaming each other. They had squandered their power. I thought that people deserved better, and a few months later I was running for office myself.... So whats that got to do with Peter Dutton? Unfortunately political leaders shifting blame and playing games isnt just something they do at to conferences in Spain...

02.01.2022 Tuesday is a good day for chicken parma night

01.01.2022 Lets keep the conversation going. Yesterday wouldve been Hannah Clarkes birthday. If you missed my piece in todays West have a read and let me know what you think.
