25.01.2022 ++ And again++ Sports nutrition is about performance. I hear it all the time : people talking without context. " Why are you on high calories?" " Why are you on low calories?" Blablabla... It's not about that ... So many factors why people or athletes are in the position they are in. A big one is their history of eating. A lot of people have actually spent a lot of time " on a diet " it takes months or sometimes years to counter physiological and psychological effects. Periodiazed eating is primordial when you train or compete. You spend some time building and some time performing. What is the goal for that person ? Not everyone feels comfortable with the rate of growth for example. Getting stronger is difficult and it comes with a the discomfort of gaining some fat. Most people give up for this reason. Before you listen to your gym mates who only have anecdotal stories to report, get someone with some qualifications in their fields and some knowledge about the current science. How the hell did I put 40kg on my deadlift in 12months ? Let it reduce until the chicken is cooked. Roll the chicken in 2 Mountain wraps... 1 tbsp of that Coles Mexican salsa on top with 25g of grated cheese In the oven until the cheese is crispy Add some fresh ingredients! It might be slightly off but it is a starting point. Keep measuring your body weight, if after about 2 weeks you gained weight, its a surplus, if you lost weight its a deficit. 15.01.2022 Hi Team Real and welcome to an other calorie video! Of course a kilocalorie or calorie as we commonly say it is a unit of measure. But .... Calories coming from protein will burn more energy to digest. We call it the thermic effect of food. The TEF of fat is 1 to 3% while protein is 20 to 30%. It means that 100kcal of protein would be about 70kcal of stored energy but 100kcal of fat would be 99kcal of stored energy. ... An other difference in quality of calorie is whole foods also require more energy to digest.When you think about it, a processed product is " processed " so it removes a layer of difficulty to your body. Then protein reduces appetite. It is the most filling macronutrient. You can potentially eat more and burn more energy by eating more protein. Food have a different index of satiety. A time luxury you don't have on competition day. A discussion i had recently with @_heisey at @trained_physioperth ... He was asking if the tap you get in the back before a lift was THE SWITCH? The switch that tells your brain, that's it you are on buddy. Let's do some work. Currently managing only what is in my power: Showing up to training : same days, same time, weeks after weeks @lucylifts85 and I have showed up. Nutrition : planning was everything, after eating hard and put on some good body mass, i confidently can say that I come stronger than last year. A mini now to arrive on weight and minimise strength loss. Also keeping it simple, vegetables, fruits, lean protein and water Recovery : sleeping patterns on point, physio sessions, doing something relaxing over the weekend and active Mindset : went back to meditation after a needed break. Going back slowly to visualisation as well. Something I was naturally good at in the past without knowing Finding my switch. Something I might experiment more in the last few weeks of prep. You can't go wrong with this one. It's pretty much impossible to overeat them. The health value they hold is irreplaceable. Forget about the whole fruits contain too much sugar... I mean you are hungry, should you eat an extra apple or go for a mars bar ? 2 Start moving more, especially if you hav...e a sedentary job. I had a client losing 3kg in 3 weeks just by walking 45min every day... we didn't change anything to her diet ! 3 Water is an amazing regulator for the body. Make sure you drink regularly during the day, pay attention to the colour of your urine. Athletes: you could have up to 20% loss of performance if you are dehydrated. So get a solid weight cut plan in place and limit the sauna. 4 Sleep always makes everything better ! You want to lose body fat, go to bed. You want to gain muscle, go to bed. Not even joking....
