23.01.2022 To ice or to heat? This has been years of debate amongst us therapist, and just when I thought Id found the balance of using both, depending on circumstances, along comes this very interesting article. Did you know that icing suppresses the healing hormone igf-1, better known as 'insulin growth factor 1', and the pain you experience with an injury triggers that hormone off. Using heat instead of ice can be more beneficial.

12.01.2022 Have you ever been to the Doctors about your aches and pains, or health concern, only to get responses like: "Oh well, you're just getting old", OR "No, you're way too young for that"? ... I've just finished reading a book of a young woman's journey through bowel cancer where she was told she was too young to be concerned about bowel cancer. Rani was 33 years old, enjoying life and was pregnant with their second child. After being sent home numerous times from Dr's and hospitals, she finally received stage 3 bowel cancer diagnosis. Rani had asked about colonoscopies when she was 30 and was told she was too young to be worrying about bowel cancer. I feel its time to stop taking No for an answer when it comes to our health with Dr's., just because of age, or costs to their clinics. I feel we intuitively know when something is not right in our bodies and Dr's can be dismissive of our concerns if there are no Big Red Flags or our age doesn't meet their criteria. I recommend having a read of Rani's story, her Blog's have been beautifully written into a book called "Me and my Semi-Colon".

04.01.2022 I had the wonderful opportunity to be a volunteer massage therapist at the Steps Autism Treehouse Annual Christmas party today. We massaged flat out from 9.00 till closing at 2.00. Met lots of wonderfully interesting people.
