23.01.2022 You know the toughest thing about being a makeup artist? It's not the occasional awkward people, or the long distance travelling. It's not the exhaustive nature... of standing up for hours on end or the expenses you incur in keeping your business running................its the constant battle against the fantasy world of Photoshop. People come to you with unrealistic images of celebrities who look beyond flawless, and they expect to look just as amazing in your hands. Unfortunately a makeup artist, no matter how good, can never compete with editing software. We can only bring out the best in what you already have naturally. Wrinkles? They cannot be covered over with makeup. Dry patches? Won't erase miraculously with makeup. Lumps & bumps? Won't vanish before your eyes with makeup. This type of unrealistic expectation stems from super flawless celebrity images that we're bombarded with on a daily basis. Here's the reality of it all. I'm using this image because a client brought it to me, asking for the sleek flawlessness of Beyoncé in the airbrushed picture. She'd never seen the unedited version. Beyoncé still looks beautiful in the first image, but the question is... How do you compete with the unrealistic nature of photoshop?! #makeupartistproblems
