25.01.2022 Michael Johnson is a keen Luderick Fisho who loves fishing Moes Rock at Jervis Bay. Today he returned a replacement ANSA NSW Angel Ring to its post overlooking ...this popular fishing spot, which is one of the orignial locations established back in the early 1990's after several rock fishing fatalities. A few weeks back the Angel Ring was used to assist two rock fishers who were washed in at Moes Rock on the 8th November, at around 3.15pm, one person was assisted back onto the platform by a fishing mate and was taken to hospital, sadly the other fishing mate was unable to be revived after being pulled from the water some 250 metres out to sea by first responders. Thanks to ANSA Member Stan who dropped the ring off to Michael, and for him helping out keeping a watchful eye over AR and the rock fishing community that fish Moes Rock. #ANSANSW, #ANGELRINGS, #RFANSW, #DONTPUTYOURLIFEONTHELINE, #ROCKFISHINGSAFETY, #NSWRECREATIONALFISHINGTRUSTFUND

23.01.2022 January 2021 will see ANSA NSW re-boot the 12 month comp with some incentives. The 2 fish of the month species are Kingfish and Bass, so any entry in any division of the 12 Month Comp for these 2 species will see the anglers go into a random prize draw. ( I know I said Length Only, but what the heck, all divisions for these 2 species will be accepted). Same goes for any junior angler entry and one randon draw for any entrant in January 2021. So we have 5 great prizes to give away at the end of January so start fishing on the 1st of Jan 2021. Good luck!

13.01.2022 Walsh Bay / Piers 8 & 9 Update: The RFA of NSW volunteers met with the NSW Maritime today to discuss solutions to the ongoing use of Piers 8 & 9 whilst the Rede...velopment on Piers 2/3 and 4/5 continue. The RFA is glad to report that there are no plans to ban fishing, and that a strategy is being implemented to finally see some of the RFA's longstanding ideas acted upon with the assistance of other Clean Safe Wharves supporters/partners The use of serviced portable toilets, more rubbish bins, more fisher education are somethings the RFA has pushed for years as the problems with overcrowding on Piers 8 & 9 due to the Arts Precinct renovations were always going to be a concern to us as anglers, and those residents and tenants who share the wharves. Our next move is a proposed on-site meeting with other concerned parties to hear and map out a way forward to better manage the recreational fishing on the wharves. Something as simple as more bins and portable toilets worked so well on Piers 2 & 3 before they were shut down for renovations, RFA still cannot believe that some NSW Government agencies never supported these initiatives on Piers 8 & 9. Hopefully the RFA has found a group of willing sensible managers who will sit up and take notice that many issues have simple solutions. The use of these wharves provides fishers, their families, and the disabled an amazing opportunity to catch great fish and they travel from all over Sydney, come from all walks of life, to throw a line into the waters of Sydney Harbour. These wharves are a place where different people from different cultures all come together to fish and that’s what we need right now, more access and better facilities. Stay Tuned for more updates from the RFA. We recently lost Sam, one of our biggest supporters and keen fisher who never let his disability stop him. Take a look at his video and listen to his messages about how important access is to the disabled fisho.

13.01.2022 The Lake Munmorah NP and all its coastal rock platforms like Snapper Point, Wybung Head, Flat Island, Red Ochre and Catherine Hill Bay will benefit from NPWS ha...ving a few additional spare Angel Rings on hand over the Christmas Holiday period, thanks to Rotodyne and their busy workshop staff, and the companies generosity, from years of Angel Ring Project support. A new 'Beach Angel Ring' is being install at the south end of Frazer Beach this week by NPWS Staff. In recent weeks there have been two rescues in that area with the South Frazer rock platform AR, its known locally as 'slip stream alley' which the surfers use to get out the back quickly. However beach swimmers think its a great place to swim, nice clear water with no breaking surf, that is TOTALLY WRONG! A local Girl was successfully rescued early this month, December 2020 with the South Frazer Beach Rock Platform Angel Ring, another local heard the calls for help and spotted the girl, he ran 500m to retrieve the AR from its post, then swam 250m out with the life ring to the girl who was having an asthmatic attack whilst being caught in the rip and calling for help. They both made it back to shore just in time as a 3rd beach goer had called '000', aided by the Angel Ring, to be treated by waiting Paramedics and NPWS staff who then assisted her recovery using her medication and oxygen. One week later a similar situation occurred with another person caught in the 'rip', and another close by rescuer, and first responders getting to the scene quickly. From last weekend the very popular Frazer Beach will have a paid Life Guard Service with Jet Ski support covering the Christmas New Year Holiday period, let us hope there are no near drownings or drowning fatalities in the area. #WaterSafety, #ROCKFISHINGSAFETY, #DONTPUTYOURLIFEONTHELINE, #Fishingsafely, #RFANSW, #ANGELRINGS, #DPINSWFISHERIES, #NSWRECREATIONALFISHINGTRUST
