22.01.2022 Little Miss Luna came to see us recently for being very unwell and her family was very worried. She wasn’t smiling, wasn’t eating and was feeling very sick. She had to spend a few days with us in hospital as well as at the emergency centre for overnight care. After some supportive care in hospital which included lots of TLC from our vets and nurses, she was finally able to go home to her family. Luna came bounding in recently for her recheck and was happily giving out free kisses and cuddles. We are so happy to see her smiling again ... what a champ #gooddoggy #hospitalpatients #staffysmiles #jstvet #loveourpatients #loveourjobs

18.01.2022 Meet Doug! Doug is a Greyhound x Staffordshire bull terrier who recently visited for a health check and vaccination. His mum noticed him scratching his belly and chewing his paws a lot and after some investigations, we discovered that Doug may be allergic to some of the plants in his backyard As you can see, Doug was heavily involved in the discussions as to how we can help reduce and prevent his discomfort. Unfortunately allergies are quite common especially in this pa...rt of the world. If you have noticed your pet scratching a lot, please contact us on 07 3807 4113 to book an appointment and together, we can find a solution for your pets comfort. #bookintoday #heretohelp #itchypets #stoptheitch #commonallergies #talktoyourvettoday #happypets #healthypets #jstvet

18.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL PET OWNERS! Please read and share! Let’s talk microchips!! By law every dog and cat must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age. This process is usually completed at their puppy or kitten vaccinations. It’s a quick and easy process, implanted under the skin and is your pets permanent form of identification. ... Is your pet microchipped Are your pets microchip details up to date To check if your pets details are up to date, you can call the registry in which they are registered too. If unsure of which registry, search their microchip number at www.petaddress.com.au and this will provide information on which registry you need to contact. Don’t have their number recorded? Simply bring them into the clinic and we can scan their microchip for you! We can’t stress enough the importance of microchipping and ensuring details are up to date. Reuniting pets with their owners is so much easier when details are current!

09.01.2022 The mental health and wellbeing of our teams are of great importance to not only us but the veterinary industry as a whole. We have the 2nd highest rate of suic...ide across all sectors, and many of our hospitals have unfortunately witnessed the impact mental health issues can have on a person's life. It is because of this that we believe R U OK? Day is so essential. That is why we are empowering our teams to ask "R U OK?", to listen and to follow up. One conversation could change someone's life.

01.01.2022 The story of a curious kitten named Max. Little Max was only 17 weeks old when he was brought in by his mum for being very unwell. He was vomiting, weak and not eating for a few days and was not acting like his himself. He had ate something he shouldn’t have! Max required lots of medical care in hospital with medications and intravenous fluids to support his system, in particular his liver and kidneys, to flush out the toxins that were harming his body. Max was such a res...ilient patient in hospital - he loudly meowed his greetings every morning to ensure he got fed breakfast first, and he slowly improved during his stay in hospital. His liver and kidney enzymes were monitored closely and when they began to improve, Max was able to go home! His family are very happy to have Max back home Max’s story is unfortunately a common case of the Curious Kitten getting up to no good. There are many day-to-day household items, foods, ornamental plants, human and dog medications that can be very dangerous and even fatal to our feline furriends. If you have any concerns, please contact us at James Street Veterinary Hospital or contact the Australian Animal Poisons Centre which is a FREE service to all pet owners on 1300 869 738 or visit their website https://www.animalpoisons.com.au/
