17.01.2022 Day 3: Men freed from traditional masculine stereotypes enjoy a better physical and mental wellbeing. Meet Kane Young an early childhood educator working at... Campaspe Community Children’s Centre. Kane has been fortunate to travel the world while working as a childcare worker. He had no trouble gaining work overseas, even as a male. I enjoy working in child care, I have been doing it since I was about 20 and no two days are the same. All of my work colleagues are inclusive, no matter what you identify yourself as. 13.01.2022 If an offer of #QuickCash or #EasyMoney seems too good to be true, it probably is. Money muling is a type of money laundering. A ‘money mule’ is a person who ...receives money from a third party in their bank account and transfers it to another account, or withdraws it in cash to give to someone else, obtaining a commission for their efforts. Simply put, money mules help criminal syndicates move money around the world, but the consequences for the money mules can be severe. 11.01.2022 Day 6: A gender-equal society would be one where the word 'gender' does not exist: where everyone can be themselves. Meet Cherish a volunteer firefighter wi...th the Echuca Fire Brigade. Cherish has had a positive experience with gender equity. She prides the fire brigade on being equal, whether you are a female or male. All of the training we undertake is the exact same, females and males aren’t trained separately because of their physical differences. We are the same and all trained to the exact same level. #CampaspeNoExcuseForAbuse #CampaspeSaysNo2FamilyViolence #CampaspeFreeFromViolence #FamilyViolenceisPreventable #16daysofactivism #RespectWomenCallItOut

10.01.2022 'Your 12 year old daughter has just been rescued after nearly drowning in the Murray river’ This was the phone call an Echuca mum received from police yesterday... morning, 21st Nov 2020. WHAT? This really emphasises the dangers around open water ways, peer pressure and the importance of achieving a high swim ability. Active level seven was my minimum standard before any of my children could stop lessons, yes this was forced no matter how cold the pool was and I did not care if they got teased for still doing swim lessons. I must mention I did pay for lessons as even though I was a competent swimmer I was not a qualified instructor to teach all the survival strokes properly. Thankfully and perfectly timed yesterday morning, Peter decided to play with his dog at Moama beach instead of swimming, while waiting for Chloe (his girlfriend and my daughter) to do a swim training session in the river. There was a group of young girls that were playing around in the water. Some of them started talking about swimming across the river. One girl said she didn’t think she was capable and appeared nervous. Peter and others on the beach were doing their own thing when they heard someone yelling for help. The girl was caught in the strong current and was getting swept away down the middle of the river. There were many people on the bank concerned and not knowing how to help. It was actually great for them to say that they didn’t have the swimming ability to go after her. So Peter, who often trains in the river with us, swam around 300m to rescue her. Thankfully she was floating on her back and he towed her back to the edge and walked her back to the beach. This could have been a disaster if she was not able to float on her back, if the paddle steamer was passing by, if Peter was not there etc etc. Get kids professionally taught at least survival lessons and survival strokes. Floating is such an important underestimated skill. Teach children the dangers of open water swimming- no matter what your swimming ability. Even how you can get to the edge it is so different than a pool. Stay safe out on the water this Summer. Life Saving Victoria #swimstrong #weALLswimtogether #safetyfirst #swim #swimsafer

09.01.2022 Day 4: Show children examples of women and men doing non-stereotypical jobs. Meet Amy - Welder and design engineer currently working at Foodmach. The strug...gle I face in the workplace, is that people have a tendency to say things like ‘she can’t do that because she is a woman’, and that motivates me more to complete the task. Amy is undertaking further study to increase her roles and responsibilities at Foodmach. To challenge herself and break down the stereotypes and comments regarding being a female in a male dominated workforce. #CampaspeNoExcuseForAbuse #CampaspeSaysNo2FamilyViolence #CampaspeFreeFromViolence #FamilyViolenceisPreventable #16daysofactivism #RespectWomenCallItOut

08.01.2022 Day 5: If you believe in your idea of change and are willing to work hard, sooner or later that dream will be a reality. Meet Rhiannon - working as managing p...artner at Maccas Demolition & Asbestos Removal Echuca. Rhiannon is all about having a crack and giving everything you’ve got to complete the job to the best of your ability. There have been instances of dealing with people who won’t work with women, but thankfully they’re very few and far between now. A lot of people are open and accepting." Rhiannon feels she has been very lucky to work for supportive males who have called out any sexist behaviour and had her back. Rhiannon was recently awarded a ‘Balance for Better’ scholarship. 02.01.2022 Day 2: I am the only female on the team. Having a female on the team brings a bit of balance and a different approach Amanda Williams Meet Amanda Williams -... a compliance officer and ranger working at the Murray River Council. Amanda highlights the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone. To put yourself in a position you may not normally find yourself, and encourages all women to work towards breaking down the stereotypes associated with working in a male dominated job. My Dad and my partner inspired me to change my career path and become a ranger, they have always had my back. #CampaspeNoExcuseForAbuse #CampaspeSaysNo2FamilyViolence #16daysofactivism2020
