20.01.2022 Members may be interested to know that a video production was made in November 1978 featuring Langham Proud and Ewan Laird, two of the three founders of Apex. A...t the time I was the Manager of the Mildura television station and a member of Apex and through Peter Baulch (future National President 1981) and Tom Chapman (National President 1976) we arranged for Ewan and Langham to come to Mildura to be interviewed about their Apex vision and history. Langdon Parsons (National President 1949) also attended the interview in the STV8 studios. Two photos attached show me with Ewan Laird and Langham Proud, and the founders with Tom Chapman and Langdon Parsons. I do not know where that video is kept these days. 04.01.2022 Apex Australia Bushfire Appeal: Dollar-for-Dollar Message from National President Michael Godfrey As the nation tackles one of the worst fire seasons in history..., we are saddened to hear of the loss of lives and homes being destroyed. Our hearts go out to all Apexians past and present who have been affected. We thank the many communities that are doing everything they can to assist, day in and day out, with little to no sleep. Many volunteers have given up their income and some have lost their homes while trying to defend others. I would like to pass on my admiration to Members who are not only on the frontline of these fires but also those who are working behind the scenes to ensure that all emergency personnel have food and drinks, as well as those who are assisting families that are displaced by these terrible events. Your hard work and dedication to these communities is simply invaluable and as an Association we are proud of what you are doing. The road to recovery will be long but one thing that can’t be destroyed is the Australian spirit, and rest assured that we will stand beside you, help to rebuild and be there for you when you need us the most. In response to the bushfire crisis, the Apex Australia National Board has set up a bank account for clubs, members past and present, and community members wishing to donate. Funds raised will be used to support the rebuilding of communities devastated by these tragic events. The Apex Foundation has committed to matching dollar for dollar up to $25,000 for donations made to this appeal. The Apex Association has a proud history of supporting communities in dire circumstances. From its humble beginnings in the Great Depression to the many natural disasters including Ash Wednesday, Black Saturday, the Queensland Floods as well as the evacuation of Darwin following Cyclone Tracey on Christmas Day 1975, just to name a few, Apexians have shone as a beacon of hope in times of need. Once again, we call upon our remarkable members and communities to support our nation at this time as we look to rebuild after the devastation. Donations can be made to: Apex Australia Charitable Fund Bank: Westpac BSB: 032-099 ACCOUNT: 138216 All funds will go directly to support families and communities affected by this disaster. Donations are tax deductible. Keep safe, look out for your mates and we hope for a swift end to these terrible fires. Thanks in advance for your support. Mick Godfrey President Apex Australia
