25.01.2022 Happy Speech Pathology week! Here at the Aphasia CRE we are proud to have some fantastic speech pathologists working to advance aphasia research
22.01.2022 Do you have aphasia following stroke? Researchers from Monash Uni are looking for volunteers for the ADaPT: Aphasia, Depression, and Psychological Treatment research project. This study aims to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of a modified psychological therapy for reducing depressive symptoms in individuals with aphasia secondary to stroke.... The research team are seeking interest from adults living in Australia who have acquired aphasia following stroke and have experienced low mood. Research participants will take part in a 10-week intervention program delivered by a qualified clinical neuropsychologist, at no financial cost to you. Telehealth option now available! Please contact Priscilla Tjokrowijoto at [email protected]
20.01.2022 As we come to the end of National Stroke week, it's a good time to remind ourselves of the symptoms of stroke! Face Arms Speech Time
20.01.2022 CALLING Australian occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, allied health assistants, and allied health community rehab managers to a Zoom focus group study. You are invited to participate in a study about a German biographic-narrative intervention designed to improve quality of life and mood for people with aphasia. We hope to learn i) whether the program is culturally appropriate to Australia (and how to further enhance this), (ii) to explore the degree to... which the program could be accommodated into the service options available in Australia, and further (iii) to identify any additional recommendations that would help to improve the intervention. The expected output of this study is a validated set of recommendations for adapting the program to an appropriate model for future testing in Australia. Please share and contact Dr Michelle Attard - [email protected] or (03) 9479 3596 for more information!

17.01.2022 Registrations are now open for Stroke Week 31 August - 6 September: https://bit.ly/StrokeWeek2020 This year we’re celebrating F.A.S.T. Heroes, those people who... knew the signs and saved a life. Across Australia, F.A.S.T. Heroes save lives every day, by simply knowing and recognising the signs of stroke and calling an ambulance immediately. They know that stroke is always a medical emergency and time is critical. This National Stroke Week we are calling for more F.A.S.T. Heroes to potentially save the life of a loved one, a colleague, a stranger or even themselves. Become a F.A.S.T. Hero by learning and sharing the F.A.S.T. message and calling triple 000 straight away if you suspect a stroke. You can get involved and raise awareness in your own way. In 2020, this might mean making your event or activity virtual. Sign up and receive a free Stroke Week kit (and a virtual kit) to support your activity including a range of hard copy and digital resources. Register for a free pack today: https://bit.ly/StrokeWeek2020
