23.01.2022 I just love using think boards in my classroom! They are the most glorious strategy for making kids feel good about themselves! There’s no ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘I hate maths’ when we use think boards! ... 13.01.2022 Theres so much more to Mental Maths than just doing fast math in your head. Double tap if you agree... Kids must learn to use a mental math strategy first so that they can understand the steps in the process BEFORE Memorising facts!!!! But finding activities that focus on stepping kids through the process rather than focussing on an Answer are really hard to find!!! ... Most activities we found were focussed on building fluency and recall, 10 !! We created our activity to help kids connect the Bridging Mental Math Strategy to the steps needed to use the strategy, and it came out pretty awesome!!! 13.01.2022 These Bridging To 10 Task Cards are a fun hands-on way to help your kiddos with building their mental math strategies. They are a great introduction to the Bridging strategy! We decided to make the "bridge" a Rainbow theme, which we thought would help the kiddos connect the bridging mental math strategy to their Rainbow facts... And it really helped! Theres so many ways you can use our task cards including in a math centre or as a whole class game of Scoot! We made it hand...s-on by adding pipe cleaners and beads from #kmartaus of course. 03.01.2022 One of my favorite hobbies is finding and trying classroom hacks, that I wish I had thought of, also known as #pinstinating I like to pinstinate at the weekend and I call it \"working\". Heres my twist on the HTO dice shaker using a pill box. I tweaked this excelent Place Value Dice hack by adding some colour coding to help the kiddos with reading and saying BIG numbers.
