24.01.2022 Benefits of a Swim Routine It has been shown that routines give children a sense of safety; a discipline that can set them up for life! Studies have proven that creating a routine instils familiarity and comfort for children. When a child is confronted with change, this can be stressful and can make your child feel out of the norm. A predictable routine allows children to feel safe and provides them with a sense of control over their lives. This applies the same to swimming ...lessons. Luckily our classes are back on from the 4th January 2021 so your little one can get back into a swim routine. We also will be running our School Holiday Intensive program across a 2 week period. Our back-to-back days of classes will help them regain their confidence in the water and is a great way to kickstart the new year in regards to their swim journey. 17.01.2022 4 Ways to Prepare For The First Swim Lesson 2. Be Positive A good relationship with water starts in the bathtub. Experiment with blowing bubbles in the water and getting their hair wet; laugh with them and show them theres nothing to be afraid of. Then when youre watching from the poolside, pay attention and give you child encouragement; smile, clap, make eye contact or even take their favourite toy along to act as a spectator. If your little one doesnt feel comfy in the water immediately, you can help keep them positive by offering them praise, even if their progress seems slow. And remember, because theyre little sponges if youre nervous around the water, theyll pick up on that.

15.01.2022 The Dangers of Swim Toys We’ve entered that time of year when the swim toys come out of storage. Swimming toys such as noodles, dive rings, floaties and beach balls are great fun for the kids, but they can be dangerous if left in the pool, because children may try to grab these from the pool’s edge and fall in. We urge you to pack toys far away from the pool, check for any leakages and make sure they’re appropriate for your child’s weight and age. Click below to read more on why certain swim toys can be dangerous and what to look out for.

14.01.2022 Safe Barriers Saves Lives! "Statistics from the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia’s National Drowning Report show that in 2019/20, 12 Australian children aged 0-4 years drowned. The majority of these drowning incidents (50%) occurred in swimming pools. While safety barriers can be effective in reducing the risk of drowning incidents, evidence suggests that a large number of drowning deaths are the result of barriers that are faulty, or non-compliant with Australian standards" - Kidsafe. If you are a pool or spa owner, click below to find out how you can check your pool and spa barriers for common non compliance faults to ensure the safety of your little ones.

03.01.2022 4 Ways to Prepare For The First Swim Lesson 1. Be Organised At first, youll need to be in the water with your little fish during their lessons. While they become familiar and gain confidence, you can help make it fun and safe. From their first exposure to water, you can encourage a love of water; take bath time to the next level with songs and toys, and get your little ones used to having water tipped over their face.... When they reach 2 or 3, you may be relegated to the sidelines, as theyre skilled enough to be in the water with just the swimming instructor. Before you attend your first lesson, chat to your child about how great it is to be able to swim; long, hot days at the pool or the beach. Swimming instructors are an approachable lot. Feel free to keep us in the loop about how your child is feeling; if theyre apprehensive or afraid. And to help build up excitement about their first lesson, let your little one choose a new pair of cozzies. On lesson-day, have everything ready to go: towel, goggles and nappies, and make sure your little swimmer has eaten, but not too much.
