24.01.2022 Fish room tour done and dusted! :) Have been asked more and more recently what I am keeping and breeding in the fish room so decided to just do a tour for everyone. Enjoy the tour! :)

23.01.2022 Betta Macrostoma - Male holding eggs. Female with breeding stripes. This has been a long time bucket list fish for me! Super happy as have not had them too long. Now let's see if we can get some fry!

22.01.2022 Ivanacara Adoketa - We have another spawn finally Definitely my favourite species in the fish room right now!

17.01.2022 Apistogramma Baenschi - brought out her free swimming fry today. Small batch (though i stole half her wrigglers...) but her first spawn so great job from her!

17.01.2022 Sneak peak of some amazing art coming to the fish room soon!

16.01.2022 Apistogramma Allpahuayo Aboriginal dot painting finally completed for the fish room! Loving the artwork!! Big thank you to my partner for the effort in creating this amazing piece of art of my favourite Apistogramma species.

15.01.2022 Fry Tanks - Stage One - setup has been changed and finally moved to drilled tanks! More space for fry and easy water changes! 3D printed divider slot siliconed in place with polycarbonate dividers with a 3D printed mesh to allow water exchange between the sides. Removeable dividers to allow for larger fry grow outs if necessary. 3D printed mesh strainers so fry don't get sucked down the drain And ofcourse my custom 3D printed air driven filters!

15.01.2022 Betta Macrostoma Fry - 2 weeks old. These beauties are quite big already and looking really cool!

14.01.2022 Betta Macrostoma - Finally got some good photos of the macrostoma while they were displaying! Male has now held 2 batches to term, super happy! Amazing fish. Can you spot the 2 week old fry in one of the photos?

12.01.2022 P. Nagyi spawned! Spawning Video posted in comment section Recently got these from a friend and had a small spawn of about 25 eggs about 4-5 days ago, and I have about 12 wrigglers from this spawn. Today I caught them spawning again! There was a couple of wrigglers left with the male during spawning which they did not way during the spawn. I collected the eggs to hatch artificially to help ensure some fry but will leave them be for the next few spawns to see how they go. This seemed like a HUGE spawn as there was 70 eggs! Strange thing is they spawned in a pH of around 7 and TDS of around 150 in the first spawn. The second the pH is in the mid 6 and TDS is around 100. Slowly softening the water with RO water changes every few days in hopes of better hatch rates.

10.01.2022 Dario sp. 'Myanmar' - Black Tiger Dario. Had some good success with the first attempt at spawning these beautiful fish so far! Although have not been able to get a good photo of the adults yet... There is not a whole lot of info on this species online, and even less fry and egg photos... So I am hoping to continue to document and share more about this beautiful species in the future!... Some interesting perspective shots... Photo 1 is of the egg next to a brine shrimp egg. The Dario egg is approx 1mm in size. Photo 2 is the wriggler stage with a baby brine shrimp below it, only 2-3 times larger than the BBS! Photo 3 is a young fry about 1-2 days old at a guess, with a baby brine shrimp just below the stomach (the orange spot). These photos really give some perspective to how tiny the Dario fry is! I believe paramecium/infusoria is a must for the fry from day 1 of free swimming. But will be experimenting with vinegar eels too. As far as I know this is the first time this Dario species has been in Australia and currently we know of only one other person with fry so far! Would love to see some more success from other breeders

10.01.2022 Dario sp. Myanmar - Black tiger Dario. Fry around 6 weeks old and starting to colour up a little. I think males are already sexable, maybe even a couple of females. Pretty awesome! They grow pretty fast, biggest are about 12-15mm now This was a first import to Australia and I'm extremely happy to have had the success I have so far! Fingers crossed for more

10.01.2022 NOTES FOR SEXING DARIO SP. MYANMAR (BLACK TIGER DARIO) Here is some photos of a few fry on my gorw out tank. Fish are roughly 12 to 15mm or so in length. Pics aren't great as I just took quick snaps with my phone, I'll get some SLR photos at some point soon. Photos 1 and 2 are males. While photos 3,4 and 5 are female. ... Notice the slightly rounded ventrals compared to pointed. It can be seen fairly well if you look super closely... This has been the most consistent way to sex them in my experience so far. Males get pointed fins that are a fair bit longer than female Also the rounded belly with a pinkish hue to it, this is only visible on females. Body shape is also different but this isn't obvious until they are a bit larger and more mature. Which these fry are not yet.

09.01.2022 Apistogramma Hongsloi II - First day free swimming

09.01.2022 Ivanacara Adoketa - Just under 6 weeks old. Noticed a single leucistic fish in the batch which is pretty cool! Will be interesting to see this bad boy grow up and possibly breed with to see if I can establish a cool new line of ivanacara in Australia Everyone is looking great and growing well! Looking like little beasts already! Haha

09.01.2022 Ivanacara Adoketa - 10 day old fry Follow us on Instagram for more posts More posts happening over there as it is a little easier. @_aquapixel_ ... https://www.instagram.com/_aquapixel_/

Finally I can work with my favourite species again! Infact I have a pair and trio to work with for now Fingers crossed for some good batches to spread this species in the Australian hobby!
