24.01.2022 Arabanoo Astrid is coming along nicely too - starting to feel her sheep and follow commands better She has a stubborn and determined streak of Kanika Jess and the paddock work of Darksupreme Buffy Sky ( both are her grandparents
24.01.2022 Clan Buddy enjoying the retired life and a bit of warmth inside this morning
24.01.2022 Very proud of these two pups who entered their first yard trial at Pittsworth and both finished the course with difficult sheep and both scoring in the 70’s!! For 4yr old, barely started, limited training with zero respect for us I couldn’t be happier with them both Well done Arabanoo Hiccup and Asterid Now maybe I better start training them lol
23.01.2022 Arabanoo Socks is back in training after her back injury - need to get back in her head but she is keen and went well It’s really hard to film and work at same time lol
23.01.2022 Arabanoo Hiccup has just graduated to outside work, still need to work on the stop but considering his late start to training he isn’t going to bad- he is very hyped in this video
21.01.2022 Give a kelpie an inch and they take a mile - first time inside at night and Buddy thinks he sleeping on the bed
21.01.2022 We are very happy with Astrids training - she is showing a lot off traits from both her grandmothers- this week she showed she has Sky’s lovely big cast - only her second time in paddock and she hug the fence on last cast - now to perfect a few things but she is showing some lovely work
19.01.2022 Happy new year- we hope 2021 is a great year for your working dogs We will be having a quiet trialling year but a possible litter later in the year will keep us busy

15.01.2022 Kanika Jess at 14yrs old- she is riddled with cancer and probably only has a few months left - so she is enjoying life relaxing lots and watching over her pack
13.01.2022 Heart broken to receive this news- I’ve been a terrible friend and haven’t spoken to Denis in years but I have him to thank for my obsession with yard trialling. From training every weekend to road tripping to trials all over nsw to gifting me my first bitch - Darksupreme Buffy -Sky. He taught me so much about Kelpies, he introduced me to so many lovely sheepdog friends. He was a great bloke and always willing to help anyone at the two Sydney sheepdog clubs. But he was also... a favourite at the local dog parks down on the beaches where we used to run the Kelpies regularly Rest In Peace with old Tau,Mero and Minni and all my gang too Miss you always Denis Leserve
13.01.2022 Arabanoo Hiccup - 1/8/2020
13.01.2022 We had some lovely ladies come to visit this week for mating with our boys Nikindley Missy and Arabanoo Hoppy have had a litter together in the past so are well known to each other and should produce some great strong red/tan working dogs Breakaway Echo is a daughter of Missy and Arabanoo Dags and she had a date with Cactus Rookie - it’s a first time litter for both echo and rookie so we are keen to see these pups - they should be very strong, hard working pups We thank their owner for using our stud dogs and can’t wait to hear when pups arrive
12.01.2022 Tonight we spoil our old girl who hates being inside but seems to know it’s the best spot for her last night with us
12.01.2022 Kanika Jess may be the 14yr old girl of the stud and full of cancer but she still loves a good game in the mornings especially with Lucky
11.01.2022 Old Jess is home- still very groggy but warm and comfy
11.01.2022 Arabanoo Astrid is coming along nicely - she is learning to feel her sheep and settle down in her work. She has a determined stubborn streak of Kanika Jess but the paddock style of Darsupreme Buffy Sky, both are her grandmothers
11.01.2022 Arabanoo Astrid is coming along nicely - she is starting to understand what is happening- now to stop me talking
10.01.2022 This weekend we tried something a bit different- SLED DOG RACING! We took Lucky and Rookie- Rookie was confused running with derek but when derek was ahead with Lucky - gee he is one powerful runner, successfully dragging Taryn around the course! More photos in comments
10.01.2022 Proud of the dogs this weekend at Inglewood show. Hiccup and Asterid both trying their hearts out and scoring in 70’s same as last weekend- they showing they got the goods and if we actually trained them they may be bloody handy dogs! Hoppy went nice and is so much easier in a muzzle, I think he was happy to be allowed to work sheep again. Socks went ok in open but in novice got badly charged by a sheep and I pulled her out as I thought she was hurt physically as well as mentally. We had to run sheep thru race so she got lots of encouragement and definitely felt more confident at end although was sore. Dylan went in the pet parade and got two seconds and a first with Lucky! He loved winning $9 to spend! Overall the arabanoo team did well again and if we ever get back to training them they may be bloody good dogs
09.01.2022 Sock’s back is slowly healing - after cutting it open, getting stitches and a drain, then having complications and needing a second surgery and a second drain that she then reacted to - it is slowly settling down after 5 weeks !! She is still not allowed to train or work for a few more weeks but she is keen to go which is great
06.01.2022 The old Queen Jess is on hospital- she had a very aggressive mammory tumour burst and tomorrow it is being taken out. It’s always a hard decision with the old ones- to operate or pts. We decided Jess deserves the chance - at 14yrs old she has worked so hard for us and produced so many amazing working dogs- she deserves to be given the chance and even if it only gives her a few months- she will be happier Our dogs are our life- we don’t just give up on them-
06.01.2022 We have had a lot of interest in pups lately - unfortunately we are currently not breeding as we focus on family and our own family business. We also want to CA test all our stud dogs and bitches before we breed from them and are excited there is now a test for this terrible hereditary disease We are still training our few young dogs and are hoping to return to sheep ( yard and arena ) and cattle trials next year. ... We have lots of old retired dogs who are enjoying doing nothing around the house We will update this page as regularly as we can Taryn and Derek
05.01.2022 Love our Rowdy dog - no stock he can’t work and still looking good as he gets older - probably the best dog we ever bred
05.01.2022 Today we had a lovely day training students of sheepdogs on the cove, Woodford. We introduced yard dog work to them and broke it down into sections to teach handlers and dogs to build confidence and trust and work as a team. We meet some really nice young dogs with lots of potential and keen handlers and saw a heap of improvement in past students we know We love training others and hope one day we can offer more training in paddock, yard and general working dogs
04.01.2022 HAPPY 11Th BIRTHDAY ARABANOO ROWDY Still our best and main boy
04.01.2022 Congratulations to Breakaway Kelpies on the arrival of Pups Arabanoo Hoppy is a dad to 10!! And Cactus Rookie is a first time dad to 4 All are sold already! ... These pups should all be great working dogs
04.01.2022 Arabanoo Rowdy still looking good in his older age - he was in his calm and steady paddock work mode yesterday- he is the best at reading his stock and adjusting his work as needed.
03.01.2022 Arabanoo Astrid in action
02.01.2022 RIP Kanika Jess 21/8/2006-10/11/2020 Derek bought just as a young 2yr old and the two of them were inseparable. She was his main bitch and did all the work for him- Cattle, sheep, poultry, goats to pigs and kids and anything that Derek needed done Jess was the dog fur the job. She produced some amazing pups and all our remain Kelpies except one has her bloodlines in them as her work.... She sustained multiple injuries in her life and it’s amazing she lived as long as she did! She was a true alpha bitch who kept the respect of the pack right up till she has left us. Words are hard when you lose your best working dog, but even harder when you lose your best friend See more
