25.01.2022 credit: @refugees Equality. Peace-building. Opportunity. Education can mean different things to many, but to young refugees, education is one of the most powerful ways to transform and rebuild their lives after fleeing conflict and violence. ... On #YouthDay, we asked our Global Youth Advisory Council Members to share a special message to other young refugees so that they too can unlock their potential and look forward to a future filled with hope. Heres what they have to say. #TransformingEducation #SDG4 #Education #WithRefugees @oneyoungworld #oyw See more

07.01.2022 Dear Friends While most people around the world were celebrating the arrival of 2020, in Australia millions were suffering from the worst bushfires in living memory. We, a group of refugees living in Malaysia, have been deeply horrified and saddened by the tragic devastation the Australian fires have had on so many innocent lives. As refugees, we know what it is like to be displaced from our homes and to lose everything we love and cherish. It pains us tremendously to see a...nyone go through such suffering. No one deserves to be displaced, and no living being deserves to lose their habitat. But we also know that it can happen to any one of us, and that we have the responsibility as humanity to assist and protect those who face such unexpected hardships. To do our part, we are starting this initiative to raise funds from refugees and non-refugees to donate to the New South Wales Fire Service. We hope to raise RM10,000 to donate to the firefighters to support their tireless and courageous work saving lives on the frontline. We may not be able to offer a lot, but we wish to offer what we can with the deepest sincerity, compassion and solidarity. We appeal to all refugees in Malaysia, and to all the kind-hearted people of Malaysia, to open our hearts to Australia in this time of need. We pray that the people, animals, land and culture of Australia will withstand and recover from this catastrophic crisis. You are the guardians of a natural and cultural heritage that are treasures not just to Australians but to the whole world. Finally, it is our hope that urgent action to prevent and prepare for future crises will be prioritised, for the sake of all our children and the healing of our planet. In compassion and solidarity, Refugee Coalition of Malaysia *Note: if we raise over RM10,000, the additional funds will be donated to registered Malaysian charities working to provide assistance to homeless communities and protection to vulnerable children from low-income backgrounds.
