14.01.2022 A message from the President Hi Everyone, Here’s a COVID-19 update from the Arcadians Theatre Group. In April we closed The Miner’s Lamp Theatre, shut down our production of Pirates of Penzance and paused rehearsals for ACT, The Lamplighters, Minstrels and Ladies In Black, it was a sad but necessary decision and those decisions continue to be necessary to make. We are not over the danger of this pandemic yet and it will be some time before we can gather together and enjoy the...atre in the traditional sense. The committee believes that the risks are too high for our members to try and operate under COVID restrictions. Theatre is meant to be fun and we feel the responsibility of people’s safety is too much to ask of our members at this stage. Let’s get together when it’s safe to do so. Now we’re in August and we have made some more decisions for Arcadians and 2020. ~ Ladies in Black has been moved from November 2020 to June 2021. We thank the production team and cast for being patient, flexible and understanding. It’s a disappointing decision but it’s the right decision, health and safety will always come first. ~ The Miner’s Lamp will continue to have access restrictions to finish the refurbishment and to minimise risk. The time will come for us to meet again and when it does, it will be worthy of a standing ovation. We cannot wait to see you all again. ~ At this stage Sweeney Todd will stay in March 2021 with auditions happening in November this is an evolving situation and we will update if anything changes. We will prepare a COVID plan for auditions and rehearsals. ~ The refurbishment is on track to finish on time and on budget. Committee would like to thank David Greer as the project manager; his leadership and professionalism have been outstanding and invaluable. ~ The AGM - with advice from our governing bodies, we have decided to postpone the AGM until 2021, the current committee members have agreed to stay on to ensure that Arcadians is managed in the best interests of our members. ~ We will address the finalisation of the 2021 season later in the year when we have a clearer picture of the restrictions we will have to operate under. ~ All membership fees that have been paid for 2020 will automatically transfer to 2021. In other news, one of our lovely regular patrons sent through a donation to help Arcadians through this time, she’s missing the theatre and wanted to do something to help. We thank her and appreciate any support from the community, if you want to contribute, we are registered charity and all donation above $2 are tax deductible. All the branches of the Arcadians family tree, ACT, Lamplighters, Monday Maintenance Men, Costume ladies are all staying connected during this hiatus. We hope that all of you are staying safe and well, we are thinking of you all and can’t wait until we can get back together again. Cheers, Liza

06.01.2022 As the saying goes the show must go on. Arcadians is still working away in the background during this difficult time. The management committee are meeting regularly to plan the company’s path out the other side. We will be back bigger and stronger with the support of our members, patrons and community. The renovations are currently underway and we are very excited, as we are sure you are, to see the final product. Of course the remainder of this years season is still being... discussed in regards to restrictions and ensuring safety for all. However, that has not stopped the train for our production of Ladies in Black catching up via zoom recently.
