25.01.2022 Some of the physical health related findings from the ARCHER Study; During the study it was found that nearly one-third of young people exceeded the normal weight range for their age and gender. Parents reported only one in ten young people were meeting the national guidelines for recommended physical activity. Hours of sleep on both school nights and on the weekends decreased as young people matured.... Fewer hours of sleep on the weekends at the start of the ARCHER study was associated with being overweight at the one-year follow-up. Want to hear more findings from the ARCHER study? Join us at the School of Rural Health on Wed Sept 19th at 5pm.

Many have arrived for their research office visit on bikes or scooters and the boarding school kids are clocking up hours on their L plates! Its never too late....

09.01.2022 Some of the mental health related findings from the ARCHER Study; Eight in ten young people believed they could achieve goals and cope with life stressors. This proportion increased with time. However just under a third of the young people in the study had experienced significant symptoms of depression at some point during the three-year study. The prevalence of these symptoms increased with increasing age, with up to 17% of 15-17-year olds experiencing psychological distres...s. There was an association between perceptions about weight and symptoms of depression. This was particularly the case for all young people who recognised that they were overweight and for young women who thought themselves to be overweight but were at a healthy weight. Want to hear more from the ARCHER study? Join us at the School of Rural Health on Wed 19th at 5pm.

09.01.2022 Dear ARCHER Families, On behalf of the ARCHER Study team we would like to extend an invitation to our next information evening to all families who have been part of the ARCHER Study. We will be presenting key findings from the four ARCHER Study surveys. We hope you can find time to join us. DATES: ... Tuesday Dec 6th in Dubbo or Wednesday Dec 7th in Orange Please RSVP for catering purposes by Dec 3rd. This is a family friendly evening aimed at parents and adolescents. We can also provide supervision for younger siblings, who may also need to come along on the night. The study results presented will be aimed at both parents and adolescents, so we would encourage both to attend where possible. We appreciate that after hours commitments for parents and adolescents are often hard to coordinate, especially in December and we will be providing an information summary and recording of the presentations by request to interested families that are unable to attend. Parents with adolescents away at boarding school will also be provided with the information summary.
