25.01.2022 People living with intellectual disability are not given the same opportunities to achieve independence as everyone else. This is unfair and needs to change. We... believe that all Australians have the right to explore an independent life, whatever that means for them. In 1951, a group of motivated families came together in support of each other to create what would become Activ. The world was not fair for people living with disability then and their choices were very limited. While things have improved, we believe we have a long way to go to make a fairer world. Our new vision for the future is that people of all abilities have the same opportunities to achieve independence. To help make this vision a reality, we are launching a new strategy with a singular focus on providing proven pathways to independence for people living with intellectual disability. We have developed this strategy in partnership with our customers, their families and other supporters. They told us two things that really matter are a place to live and a place to work and that we should start here. This new strategy does not mean we are going to stop supporting any of our customers. It simply means that our focus is on encouraging our customers to achieve their independence goals, whatever that means for them. Its about working towards those goals alongside our customers. 24.01.2022 There have been amazing turnouts for the #ReliefRun all over the world this weekend with people coming together and running their hearts out to raise much needed funds for Australian Red Cross Thanks to The Crew for pulling together this incredible group of 200+ at Deep Water Point yesterday morning, and to Samantha Gash for bringing this initiative to life. The Relief Run has now raised well over $1M for Red Cross Australia Hundreds of events took place over the weekend, with thousands of participants getting involved. Shoutout to our amazing WA running community including Perth Run Collective The Crew lululemon Perth West Australian Marathon Club and so many others for organising pop up events for virtual runners to join #australianbushfire #reliefrun

12.01.2022 Its hard to know how to help sometimes or even where to start, so lets get together and do what we do best (run!) to raise funds for the Australian Red Cross. The WA running community is really getting behind this amazing initiative where 100% of your $50 entry fee goes straight to the Australian Red Cross: Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. Well be joining The Crew on Sunday January 19 at Deep Water Point, Mount Pleasant (in front of Dome caf) to walk, jog or run either... a Half Marathon or 5KM. Meet and brief @ 6.45am for a 7am run start. There are a number of running groups getting involved around Perth including: West Australian Marathon Club meeting at 6.30am at the WA Marathon Club, Burswood on Saturday 18th. Perth Run Collective meeting at 7.15am at Clarko Reserve, Trigg on Sunday 19th. WRC (We Run Cott) meeting at 5.45am for a 6am start at the carpark opposite the Cottesloe General Store on Sunday 19th.
