25.01.2022 ARDA have been working with the Federal Department of Agriculture's " farming Together program " and visiting regional areas and holding meetings and if we are to BUILD REGIONAL SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES " we need to empower our rural areas give them the opportunities to create business that value add Australian Products in regional NSW not by centralising activities on the outskirts of the biggest city in Australia. IS KMPG & NSW Farmers thinking broadly enough? is their proposal of a 500 hectare precinct on the outskirts of Sydney really decentralisation or urbanisation? Looking at it in a broader context does it help regional NSW or does it take jobs and opportunity away from our regional towns and cities?

25.01.2022 The impact of the Iron Horse, the steam locomotive, on the economic growth of the United States during the 19th century was unprecedented and arguably laid the foundations for the nation’s rise as the great superpower of the 20th century. Today, the Steel Bird has the potential to offer Australia’s regional and inland communities the same catalytic driver as the Iron Horse did in the US over a century ago. Toowoomba International Airport is a case in point. Privately owned ...and developed, the local Wagner family constructed the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport in 18 months at a cost of $100 million by 2014, the first new airport to be built in Australia for 44 years. By 2016, Qantas had flown its first international passenger flight from Toowoomba to Shanghai and Cathay Pacific was running freight only flights to Hong Kong, delivering not only locally grown lettuce, mangoes, beef and nuts but a boost in agricultural exports and inbound tourism for the region. The Toowoomba Region Economic Profile March 2017 shows that the Wellcamp airport received 41,000 visitors in its second year (2015/16), up from 17,000 the previous year. Food Product Manufacturers in the Toowoomba region exported $375.6million internationally and agriculture exported $80.6million in 2015/16, according to figures from Toowoomba Region Food Manufacturing Profile August 2016. The construction of the Wellcamp Airport has led to further infrastructure projects adding to regional growth including the $1.6billion Toowoomba Second Range Crossing and the Inland Rail Project. Agribusiness Regional Development Association (ARDA ) needs your written and funding support to gain backing for the Canberra Airport to become Australia’s next Regional Airport to develop the required infrastructure and facilities to export regional produce internationally. This will in turn enhance tourism, local business, bilateral trade and economic growth. Please write a post in support or become an ARDA support member for $50.00. Your contribution and membership supports the work ARDA is doing on attaining funding grants and to lobby local, state & federal governments on the enormous opportunity the Canberra Airport Freight Hub presents to the Capital and surrounding regions. 20.01.2022 ACIL Allen’s 2016 Report to the Australian Airports Association says that while regional airports play vital social and economic roles in local communities across Australia, most face enormous operational challenges. On average, regional airports had a 6% funding gap between the expenditure required to operate the airport and revenue collected from its operations. Despite these challenges, the report acknowledges the importance of their continued viability and social and econ...omic contributions. Regional airports also generate catalytic economic impacts by facilitating increased competition because of readier access to alternative suppliers, enhancing innovation through access to a wider range of skills and human resources, enabling a more flexible labour market and facilitating more efficient interaction between different levels of government. Canberra Airport is an opportunity that has not yet been fully grasped, with a Logistics Freight Hub yet to be built and growers and producers in the Southern Inland region as well as international airlines just waiting in the wings, so to speak. Agribusiness Regional Development Association (ARDA ) needs your written and funding support to gain backing for the Canberra Airport to become Australia’s next Regional Airport to develop the required infrastructure and facilities to export regional produce internationally. 20.01.2022 THE KEY PIECE OF THE PUZZLE -allowing Primary producers to be Price makers not Price Takers

19.01.2022 Discussions begin over regional export centre The development of a regional export facility to China, operating from within the Canberra International Airport precinct, could mean massive savings for local producers, if stakeholders can be found in great enough numbers to make the project viable. Daryl Young, director of the Agribusiness Regional Development Association (ARDA), said that local Australian producers now have the opportunity to tap into the Chinese export mark...et through cheap and efficient on-line selling platforms, while cutting out profit-reducing middle men. We are proposing a simple systems process which operates through digital connectivity. Currently the process to export our local produce involves nine or so sets of hands, we believe we can bring that number down considerably, he said. A series of four regional forums across southern and central NSW came to an end in Wagga Wagga last Wednesday, educating farmers and local agribusiness owners on how to take advantage of the Asian Dining Boom. The meetings ran as part of The Department of Agriculture’s Farming Together program, with the aim of bringing potential stakeholders together to explore the establishment of a potential regional export centre. Mr Young said the meetings were an opportunity to gauge local interest and to open a dialogue more broadly about the challenges of the export industry. 200,000 Australians are involved in Ag production and value adding business, but less than 30% are currently involved in the export process, he said. The meetings were partly looking for stakeholder interest, trying to develop a network of producers which allow us to build a supply base. This has to be driven by supply, when the levels of supply are sufficient, then we can go to the airlines and negotiate in respect to providing a service. Mr Young said the idea of the planning forums and the Canberra airport development plan was about handing control of the export process to local producers. In a lot of cases, these overseas markets are places that people in the industry think that they cant access, that it is too difficult. We are showing people that access isn't difficult. Changes are happening allowing low-cost entry into these markets, he said. This ease of access, is partly based on the rapid growth of the Chinese E-commerce consumer base, growing from 140 million online shoppers in 2010, to 520 million online shoppers in 2015. The forums involved presentations from the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, regional development authorities and representatives of logistics and freight management companies. 16.01.2022 SMALL BUSINESS LEADING THE CHARGE ON ECOMMERCE Major Brands Struggle In the past five years, e-commerce has been the fastest growing sector of the massive shift towards integrating technology into both business and marketing strategies colloquially known as Digital Transformation. ... Nearly every industry, from the early adopters in the hospitality and tourism sector, to newcomers like luxury retailers, have adopted some type of e-commerce strategy to capture a slice of this lucrative pie. Global consumers have shifted towards leading truly mobile lives. The share of global internet traffic taken up by mobile phones is up 30% over last year, according to a recent We Are Social report. This means that the number of digital touchpoints available for brands to connect with consumers and make conversions is growing every year, and being present online is now critical for a brand’s success. Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG ) major brands still have a relatively small market share in the overall global e-commerce ecosystem This sector is unique in its challenges to digital transformation and e-commerce. There is a myriad of reasons why e-commerce adoption is particularly difficult for CPGs, ranging from distribution challenges to the issue of how to personalize the consumer journey at scale. There are many challenges and opportunities facing CPG companies as they enter the e-commerce space for the first time, or expand their relatively small presence. The reality is, truly serious consumer-centric CPG brands need to wholeheartedly embrace e-commerce going forward, or risk continuing to lose market share to smaller, local companies with agile, fast-moving digital strategies. According to a recent IRI report, online CPG sales currently account for less than 2% of overall industry sales, but by the end of 2018, e-commerce will account for about 50% of CPG industry growth.

09.01.2022 Cadence Economics Analysis of Direct International Air Freight Operations at Canberra Airport by Auxiem Management Constultants for the ACT Government in 2016 looked at three scenarios to assess the freight opportunity for the Canberra region. This factored in a $42million investment into the freight hub and took into account the capital and surrounding region’s catchment area, of which an estimated 37,107 tonnes leaves each year via Sydney and Melbourne airports, valued at a...pproximately $226 million. This equates to one fully loaded 747 freighter per day of international exports. The report also highlights the importance of co-operatives with the opportunity for local producers to take ownership of their international exports. 06.01.2022 BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT SMEs are critical to the global economy but account for little cross-border trade Internet penetration reached about 3.5 billion people in 2016, with China and India accounting for 720 million and 460 million respectively1.... China’s total cross-border e-commerce trade, including exports and imports, grew 28.6% in 2015, to US$776 billion from US$603 billion in 2014. Nearly 90% of the 2015 volume was in business-to-business (B2B) transactions, the remainder in business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions. Worldwide e-commerce forecasts are bright, with B2B e-commerce volume expected to reach $6.7 trillion by 2020. The US is poised to follow suit and account for over $1 trillion in B2B e-commerce by then. SMEs worldwide number between 420 million and 510 million; they account for about 95% of all companies, around 50% of global gross domestic product and about 70% of job creation; yet they account for only roughly 20% of cross-border trade, while large global companies generate about 80%.
