20.01.2022 HORRIFIC situation in #moira refugee camp right now unfolding over the last few hours. Horrible reports of gunfire, no fire services, locals attacking refugees, refugees being pushed back into the camps among the fires . . . now volunteers are searching the grounds for bodies. MASSIVE human rights issue affecting nearly 200,000 asylum seekers. https://bit.ly/3i7ZRaC

19.01.2022 "Eid pleaded with the soldiers to spare his life. Frightened out of his wits, he again tried to explain that hed simply forgotten his papers. It was then that the soldiers started laughing at him, and said they were just playing. In #Syria, it seems, theres often little difference between gallows humour and a death threat."https://bit.ly/32GNEEM

16.01.2022 "What fine citizens these men would make. I have no doubt that one day a better government will hold a special ceremony in Parliament House and, just as we have done with First Nations peoples and victims of child sexual abuse, offer a national apology to those here we have treated so badly, those in many cases whose youth we have stolen." 15.01.2022 Lockdown extends beyond those in the hotel's too, refugees have had restrictions on their life that are actual human rights violations for over a decade now #honourtheconvention

15.01.2022 And other refugees and asylum seekers ten years of actual restrictions, apart from loved ones and actual denial of human rights. It is hard in Melbourne right now but many have it harder. Right now just in Vic thousands of refugees left with no income and facing homelessness and hungry. bit.ly/2FvQ5AT

Fortify Rights has reason to believe Myanmar Army Private Myo Win Tun, 33, and Private Zaw Naing Tun, 30, are in the custody of the ICC and in The Hague." https://bit.ly/3m469uf

13.01.2022 This time last year we did things a little differently. Instead of collecting goods for refugee friends to deliver we were planing the first trip to #indonesia to deliver to schools ourselves and to support he #smileforerefugees concert. How Covid has changed our world but not that of those still waiting in Indo. https://www.facebook.com/khann.haz1/posts/1003576103324582

11.01.2022 The entire Department needs an overhaul, letting in Tom Hanks and blaming others, au pairs, the mess of 501s going way outside of its scope, sponsored visas, Covid stranded people as well as refugee horrors. https://ab.co/3mbj3ql

11.01.2022 It shouldnt come to COVID and a lack of cheap migrant workers for refugees to be given their rights to permanent citizenship. The Convention is clear, if found to be a refugee the State owes them permanent protection. In saying that, we dont know many who wouldnt do the hard yards for that right to safety and freedom from persecution. https://bit.ly/2ZD4y52

11.01.2022 Tensions are high with long term housing in hotels, lack of medical care required, Covid-19 and daily protests onsite, sadly this isnt a surprise. We CAN do better, we can put these asylum seekers and refugees in Community Detention, they can have access to fresh air and exercise, cook their own meals, have some dignity back a little more. #honourtheconvention https://bit.ly/3hzcU3T

11.01.2022 White Cliffs of Dover pay respect to the anniversary of the loss of Aylan Kurdi that spread across the world 5 years ago. Yet nothing change. #honourtheconvention

09.01.2022 "Join thousands of educators, parents and students right across the country in calling for people seeking asylum to have the support they need during COVID-19. Many schools are picking up the slack left by the Federal government, who are refusing to extend JobSeeker to families seeking asylum, and for some not even providing access to Medicare." #nochildleftbehind https://bit.ly/331lsew

09.01.2022 BREAKING: we know these posts dont "reach" many of you but for the small number who they do, please please share. Moira camp in Greece was burnt down by a gang the police literally left the site to allow to continue. There are locals blocking people taking the 190000+ asylum seekers food and blankets, the asylum seekers peacefully protested and this is how they are treated by the police, tear gas to men, women and children hiding to sleep in cemeteries and cold and hungry.

09.01.2022 "Australian women and children have been snatched from the al-Hawl refugee camp in north-east Syria, where families of Islamic State fighters are detained, according to reports from inside the camp. 07.01.2022 Moira Greece Update. 190000+ with no place to stay, community groups providing food and blankets and tents, locals still threatening asylum seekers, police randomly abusing and attacking men, women and children. The UNHCR needs to be given a role to move these people ASAP.

07.01.2022 To our dear friends in the South East areas of Melbourne, please chat to friends and neighbours, help with translations, dont stand for unsafe workplaces, especially Afghans. Brett has spent time in Afghanistan, he cares too! #staysafe

06.01.2022 "Here in Afghanistan, my siblings and I have all been able to go to school. It’s the reason why today, I’m a Journalism student at Kabul University; my relatives who didn’t return are tailors, embroiderers or working in other trades. They didn’t have the opportunity to pursue schooling and to become educated." bit.ly/3ljBOX0

01.01.2022 Refugees have long been denied their rights under the Convention with temporary visas. When Covid hit tens of thousands lost jobs and still they do not qualify for any financial support through Covid Centrelink. #RUOKDay and this is how we treat refugees? #nochildleftbehind #honourtheconvention
