25.01.2022 Thanks to all those who donated to Dymocks Childrens Charities earlier in the year, this week 1135 children across 26 Ardoch partner schools have received a delivery of books to have in their home. The timing couldnt be more important as children learning in remote conditions with limited access to school facilities and local libraries will have their own books to read.

25.01.2022 We are super excited to be a Charity Partner of She Maps. For every Pippa and Dronie book purchased one will be donated to Ardoch and Deadly Science. If you would like to support children's engagement with STEM follow the link below:

24.01.2022 Ardoch are proud to be partnering again this year with WildlifeXposure. So far we have booked 22 programs to run LIVE virtual interactive experiences across our partner schools. These presentations provide opportunities to explore, experience and learn about wildlife first hand. #scienceweek

24.01.2022 Ardoch is incredibly proud to announce that we have been selected as a new Australian charity partner of The Pokémon Company group, which are donating a minimum of $5 million USD to various international non-profit charities following Pokémon GO Fest 2020, taking place globally in July. 23.01.2022 The great part about working at Ardoch is having the opportunity to participate in Ardoch's Literacy Buddies program. Last week we had our first virtual visit with our Little Buddies. It was truly an amazing experience where we each shared a story or item that is important to us. There were many pets shared and stories about memorable experiences.

23.01.2022 It is International Literacy Day! The theme this year is 'Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond'. For many children their education has been disrupted this year by the ongoing health crisis. At Ardoch we have launched several initiatives to support the literacy of children during this difficult time, including our books in home program in partnership with Dymocks Children's Charities #internationalliteracyday

22.01.2022 As Victorian schools commence another five weeks of remote learning, we wish our partner schools all the best and we look forward to continuing to provide support with our programs over the next two terms.

22.01.2022 Ardoch is thrilled to have been named as a finalist in the 'Improving Access and Participation in Early Learning' category for the Department of Education & Training, Victoria Victorian Early Years Awards. 22.01.2022 It's National Student Volunteer Week! We are so excited to celebrate our student volunteers who contribute so much to Ardoch. While volunteering this year hasnt looked the same as previous years, we have had a number of our student volunteers who have really demonstrated their commitment to supporting the education of children facing disadvantage by pivoting into our letter writing programs. Over the week we will feature some of their stories.

21.01.2022 Happy Melbourne Cup Day! To all of our amazing supporters in Melbourne, we hope you have a wonderful day off and relish in the enjoyment of being able to be with your friends and family.

20.01.2022 As some of you may remember we featured an amazing volunteer earlier in the year, Aremel. Aremel is another one of our incredible Education Volunteers, studying a double degree in architecture and construction management. Below is a snippet of a letter he received from a student while taking part in Ardoch's Education Volunteer letter writing program with their class. To learn more about Aremel follow the link: https://www.ardoch.org.au/meet-our-volunteers/ #NSVW

20.01.2022 Last week the Ardoch team were lucky enough to participate in an Indigenous cultural awareness discussion with Red Dust's Roberto and Alan. It was an amazing experience that all of us truly enjoyed, particularly the stories Alan told about his ancestors and lived experience. https://reddust.org.au/work/what-we-do/#impact

20.01.2022 2020 was a year in which we all missed connections, but for one in three children who start school developmentally vulnerable, 2021 is a chance to regain confidence and grow student aspirations through participation in one of Ardoch’s Broadening Horizons programs. This year, help us reconnect kids with their excitement, their genius, and their potential. 20.01.2022 Meet Vanessa, another one of our amazing student volunteers from NSW. Vanessa is currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Science - Speech Pathology. She also volunteers as part of Ardoch's Literacy Buddies program for Education Volunteers. Here is what Vanessa had to say when asked a few questions about her volunteering experience. What do you feel you have gained from the program? I think what I have gained is being able to get to that level and build that rapport with... the children. A lot of the kids dont have the role models and when I was growing up I struggled academically and having that role model to look up to really meant something to me and I think it means something to a lot of kids. What do you have to say to others who are thinking of volunteering with Ardoch? If you are really passionate and want to make a difference to someones life, I would really recommend it. Even if you have not had experience volunteering with children before doing this program would be invaluable experience. To read more about what they had to say you can head over to our Meet our Volunteers page https://www.ardoch.org.au/meet-our-volunteers/ #NSVW

19.01.2022 You might remember that we recently piloted a new drone program with one of our partner primary schools? Well, it was a fantastic success and we received this amazing feedback from the teacher! What a great result :)

19.01.2022 Here is a behind the scenes look at Ardoch rehearsing the filming of Curious Young Minds - our early years STEM program. This will be used as a learning resource for educators and Ardoch Education Volunteers to help inspire a child's curiosity in the world around them.

18.01.2022 We are so proud to be partnering this year with an organisation like PROJECT ROCKIT Students at our partner schools will have the opportunity to learn how to deal with difficult online experiences such as cyber bullying as well as learn about respect and empathy as part of Ardoch's Broadening Horizons: SocialWellbeing program. We have our first programs booked over the coming weeks. https://www.projectrockit.com.au/

18.01.2022 This week is NAIDOC Week which celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Ardoch is proud to partner with Didgeridoo Australia to provide children facing disadvantage with connection to the indigenous community and hands on knowledge and experience in the indigenous culture.

18.01.2022 We recently sent out tech boxes as part of Ardoch's robotics program to our partner schools to give students opportunities to learn coding, engineering and problem-solving skills in a team setting. Check out what one excited teacher said about receiving these tech boxes.

17.01.2022 Ardoch once again has been selected to participate in Local Matters at Grill'd Elsternwick. If you buy a burger and place your token in the Ardoch jar you can help support the education of children facing disadvantage. Thanks again Grill'd for your ongoing support.

17.01.2022 Here is another excited student receiving her books through Ardochs partnership with Dymocks Childrens Charities. Ensuring that children in disadvantaged communities have access to age appropriate books in the home is essential, especially now as children continue to be challenged by remote schooling. We love seeing smiling and engaged faces just like this one! #feelgoodfriday

14.01.2022 The Ardoch team has seen first hand the extra pressures on teachers and students this year, and we're working hard to help close the gaps. Here is what a teacher from one of our partner schools had to say about our programs:

14.01.2022 The Ardoch team has been working very hard adapting our programs to virtual delivery, to ensure we can still reach the children and young people that need our support. We have even used the skills of our family members to make this happen. Check out this "blooper reel" of our National Fundraising and Engagement Manager's son, getting ready to interview for our Speed Careers program!

14.01.2022 A teacher at one of our partner schools has made participating in Ardoch's Literacy Buddies program a little easier for his students by putting a letter box outside the school. What an amazing gesture that supports the children in practicing their letter writing and literacy skills with their Big Buddies at BDO Australia

14.01.2022 Would you like to work with a motivated and dynamic team? We have an opening! We're looking for a Program Compliance and Administration Coordinator to join the Ardoch team and improve educational outcomes for children and young people in disadvantaged communities throughout Australia. As the Program Compliance and Administration Coordinator for our Volunteering Programs, you will utilise your strong project coordination and communication skills to oversee the compliance and ...administration of our volunteering programs, while collaborating within a motivated and dynamic team to help make a difference in the lives of children living in disadvantaged communities. 13.01.2022 Last week we were super excited to send out 4000 STEM books and parent reading guides to 2229 children at Ardoch's partner Early Years centres. Ardochs early years STEM programs are designed to help kindergarten children engage in important STEM subjects from an early age and could not come at a more important time as childrens preparation for school has been disrupted by early years service shutdowns.

11.01.2022 Ardoch was recently featured in Volunteering Victoria's coverage of creative initiatives during COVID-19. 11.01.2022 Meet Yulia, one of our amazing student volunteers. Yulia is currently completing her last semester of a Masters of Education. She has been volunteering with Ardoch since March as part of Ardoch's Literacy Buddies program for Education Volunteers. Here is what Yulia had to say when asked a few questions about her volunteering experience. What do you feel you have gained from the program? So far I have only received my two little buddies profiles, but I think I can imagine f...rom their answers what kind of children they are. I believe in the power of words and how they can contain warmth and power and bring a positive energy to the recipients. So I quite enjoy the process of writing the letters in a creative way, and writing encouraging words. It's also exciting waiting for the letters from your little buddies and it really brings some joy. I volunteer to... Help the children see a vaster brighter world. To read more about what they had to say you can head over to our Meet our Volunteers page https://www.ardoch.org.au/meet-our-volunteers/ #NSVW See more

11.01.2022 Ardochs Learning through Lunch is an innovative program that gives students from disadvantaged school communities the opportunity to participate in a fine dining experience, at a TAFE or hospitality training restaurant, hosted at tables by working adult volunteers and parents. The students try new foods and learn about different career pathways through a tour of the venue and conversations with the adults at their table. ORIMA Research recently completed an evaluation of this program which has highlighted excellent learning outcomes for students who participated, particularly in the key areas of confidence, aspiration, social skills and engagement. https://www.ardoch.org.au/research-and-evaluation/

11.01.2022 Ardoch's Literacy Buddies program is in full swing. Check out this amazing letter that one of our Big Buddies at Clayton Utz Careers in Queensland has put together for their little buddy. 10.01.2022 Today over 1000 students from Ardoch partner schools had the unique opportunity to hear astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield share his amazing experiences in space. Thanks to the generosity of our partner AMP Australia for coordinating this incredible STEM experience and making it available for so many children in communities facing disadvantage.

10.01.2022 Ardoch's Literacy Buddies mid year visits look very different this year. Check out the Big Buddies from Corrs Chambers Westgarth Careers, ready to meet their Little Buddies face to face for the first time. Here is what one teacher had to say about the virtual visit Thank you so much for organising everything it was truly a first for most of my students, they really did have the best time. It was a fantastic incursion so thank you so much, it was a joy to see the students open up towards the end.

09.01.2022 Ardoch is thrilled to have benefited from a volunteer team of curious young actuaries who chose to work on two Ardoch challenges as part of the 2020 Actuarial Hackathon. They have helped us understand more about our volunteer retention and what makes a star volunteer, as well as which mix of programs and activities generates the most satisfaction among our education partners. We are so grateful for your support and insights. #actuarialhackathon

07.01.2022 Ardoch's Speed Careers pilot of its virtual adaptation has been completed! It was successfully delivered across three schools. Now the team is hard at work adapting it even further in the hopes of incorporating it long term into the regular program. This allows us to continue to deliver a program to students that open's their eyes to different career opportunities that they might not otherwise hear about.

07.01.2022 We are thrilled that our education volunteers have continued to engage with their classes through a new letter writing program we are offering them.
