19.01.2022 ARETI LACQUER LIGHTS - TRULY TRIPPING THE LIGHT FANTASTIC! Lacquerware is considered one of Asia's most significant contributions to the world of fine arts. Vietnam together with Japan are considered today the leading countries for lacquerware, having preserved their tradition of craftsmanship and maintained the high quality of their finishing throughout the ages. Vietnamese lacquer originated from the artisans of Phu Tho province in Northern Vietnam more than 2000 years ago.... Its characteristic is a smooth and glossy surface with a beautiful deep sheen. The lacquerware process requires design skills, knowledge, patience and ingenuity in order to create our timeless, elegant furniture and accessories, such as tables, mirrors, vases, bowls, boxes and lights. Producing lacquerware involves many different artisans, from the person making the wood structure, to those applying, sand washing and polishing the lacquer, and finally to those decorating. The smooth and glossy 14 layer lacquer surface is the result of our two month lacquering process, using traditional lacquering techniques resulting in lacquer that is beautiful and durable. Areti light shades are of fine Italian natural materials, which are flame resistant, RoHs certified, specially coated to diffuse light. Each piece is designed by architects from the School of Architecture in Paris, Ecole des Beaux - Arts de Paris; and entirely handcrafted. Our Vietnamese artisans then hand make each piece.
