23.01.2022 **VICTORIA SET TO WAIVE HANDGUN PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR** FOLLOWING our letter to Victoria’s Firearms Licensing and Regulation Divis...ion yesterday, we have been contacted by senior staff at the registry to acknowledge our request and confirm they are in the process of drawing up documents for official approval to waive handgun participation requirements for the remainder of the year. This is an excellent and common-sense outcome for licensed competition pistol shooters in Victoria, who will now be able to focus on getting through the lockdown period without stressing about range attendance requirements. As soon as we hear, we will let you know when the official announcement is made - but in the meantime, law-abiding shooters appear to have one less thing to worry about.

06.01.2022 Update for farmers and pest control volunteers After requesting an update - the Agriculture Minister’s department has responded to me with a yes ! Dur...ing Stage 3 Restrictions in regional Victoria, volunteers CAN go onto a farmer’s property to assist in pest eradication. The Minister’s office responded - Pest control for a farmer (whether paid or unpaid) is considered work. When undertaking pest control for work, the ‘one other person or household’ gathering limit doesn’t apply, but people should maintain physical distancing and practice good hygiene. Similarly for last time, it is essential to have permission from the landholder and prudent to carry written permission with you. For example, a text message or email confirming the address of the farmer, supporting your reason for leaving home. Stage 3 Restrictions advice indicate that any volunteering must be done as close to home as practicable. Good luck & thank you for supporting our farmers!
