24.01.2022 At the beginning of the pandemic, a client asked us if we could make or source hand sanitiser gel and custom brand it for their stores. It was a *little* more difficult than expected, but we were able to develop a formula and have now completed the largest custom project in our company's history - helping us to overcome the loss of business and clients experienced as a consequence of the pandemic. We were able to manufacture a product with ~93% Australian made components by m...ass, and 100% of the components were sourced from Australia-based businesses. We are proud to be involved and registered with the Australian Made Campaign too! Many friends and other clients loved the product so much that we decided to add it to our product portfolio. A little bit of info about the product: - It feels and smells great (we used fragrance oil from the Lemon myrtle tree, an Australian native) - Is made using 100% pharmaceutical grade ethanol (not methylated spirits, industrial ethanol or booze leftovers which we have seen in so many other products) - Is manufactured in a TGA accredited GMP facility - Is microbiologically tested - has GHS compliant labelling & EAN/UPC barcode - Is in stock & available for purchase and also kept 5 people employed at Argent Scientific (and many more at our suppliers) Please get in touch if you would like to purchase this product - we have several thousand bottles available in stock (Eveleigh NSW)

20.01.2022 Guanidine hydrochloride, usually abbreviated GuHCl and sometimes GdnHCl or GdmCl, is the hydrochloride salt of guanidine. Guanidine hydrochloride is a strong chaotrope and one of the strongest denaturants used in physiochemical studies of protein folding. It also has the ability to decrease enzyme activity and increase the solubility of hydrophobic molecules. At high concentrations of guanidinium chloride (e.g., 6 M), proteins lose their ordered structure, and they tend to be...come randomly coiled, i.e. they do not contain any residual structure. However, at concentrations in the millimolar range in vivo, guanidinium chloride has been shown to "cure" prion positive cells (i.e. cells exhibiting a prion positive phenotype revert to a prion negative phenotype). This is the result of inhibition of the Hsp104 chaperone protein known to play an important role in prion fiber fragmentation and propagation. Information taken from Lide, David R. (1998). 19.01.2022 1-Methylimidazole or N-methylimidazole is an aromatic heterocyclic organic compound with the formula CH3C3H3N2. It is a colourless liquid that is used as a specialty solvent, a base, and as a precursor to some ionic liquids. It is a fundamental nitrogen heterocycle and as such mimics for various nucleoside bases as well as histidine and histamine. Information taken from Ebel, K., Koehler, H., Gamer, A. O., & Jäckh, R. 11.01.2022 Great news coming from the EU. During the course of 2018, Argent Scientific has discontinued the use of most disposable plastics and changed to glass, metal & reusable plastic (e.g. Nalgene) alternatives. We have invested heavily in materials, tools and containers which will not only reduce waste, but also costs and logistical issues associated with waste disposal. ... We are now only using disposable plastics for weighing but will change to paper or glass alternatives once our existing stocks of disposable plastics are depleted. This is both a financial and environmentally-oriented decision. Single-use plastics are more expensive long term, and far worse for the environment.

11.01.2022 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde is an organic compound. Within this class of compounds the chemical is categorized as a trisubstituted aromatic aldehyde. It can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of some pharmaceutical drugs including trimethoprim, cintriamide, roletamide, trimethoquinol (aka tretoquinol), and trimazosin.
