22.01.2022 MY STORY After years of obesity from my school years i was always the short "fat" kid, This was a torment that was used throughout my school years. In my early 20's i was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. This meant changes had to be made. But they were not enough. I reached my peak weight of 155kg and I wasn't healthy or happy. This all came to a head 4 years ago when I almost died on christmas eve from a perfect storm of heat stress, dehydration and diabetes. I was admitted t...o hospital where I was told, that if I hadn't been woken up by a relative at that time it would have only taken a couple more minutes & that would have been it. I wouldn't have woken up. The one thing I remember from the day I was admitted to hospital was, telling my wife that I'm sorry that christmas will be sad for you because it will be the day I left you. This took a massive toll on me physically and mentally. It took 4 months for my body to get back to where it was, strength and energy had disappeared and fatigue had now become my right hand man. Depression and anxiety had taken their grip on my life and enough was enough. This was not how i wanted to live. Now fast forward 4 years and a lot of ups and down, my life has taken a complete turn around. I now weigh in at 95kg (which is actually less than what I weighed in the middle years of high school), left a almost 20 year career in sales and have been studying my Certificate III & IV in Fitness. My diabetes results have been rock solid for the past 3 years and my mental state is better than it has ever been. This turnaround all started with an introduction to a PT who I am lucky to now call a friend. She showed me that exercise would help me on every level, Mind, Body and spirit. Now it is time to give other people the Strength, Confidence and Quality of Life that I have gained. That is why I have founded Arkham Fitness. 20.01.2022 It’s almost guaranteed that a big transformation will take you longer than you expect it to. What you really need to know is that fat loss and fat gain are both dependent on energy balance. You don’t have 50+ lbs of a positive energy balance to cause fat gain in a few short days, so stop expecting to lose it that fast. The entire process, gain or less, is scientifically pretty slow. But it is worth it. 19.01.2022 You Time. As many of you know, I’m a bit of a nerd. Comics, cars and painting miniatures. I paint for a bit of me time. Sit at my desk build and paint models. Why do I still do this? When I paint I’m so focused on the details in the models, I can forget everything around me, forget time and just focus. Why do you forget time? You forget time when doing something that you enjoy because you are in your flow state. Your flow state is you being in that moment, not worrying about anything else. This state is crucially important especially while in lockdown, like we still are in Vic. What gets you to experience your flow state?



19.01.2022 I often get asked what I do when I’m not at the gym. Most of the time it is studying. I am currently studying training for the female body, which revolves around the impact of hormones and cycles in regards to training. Anything I can learn to get better results for my clients I will do. What are you currently working on to better something in your life?

17.01.2022 Healthy lunches are so hard during lockdown. Here is an idea, baby capsicums halved and filled with light Philadelphia cheese and topped with everything but the bagel seasoning. 15.01.2022 Today I was left speechless, which everyone knows doesn’t happen very often. Sarah was aiming for a 200kg PB on the leg press. We did a full set at 200kg, then 250kg and performed a 1 Rep Max at a whopping 320kg. So proud of your progress and determination. You have absolutely nailed everything you have put your mind to. Can’t wait to see your future progress.

13.01.2022 Why exercise is key for your mental health! The one question I was always asked when going through deep depression and anxiety, was how does it feel? I could never explain it. Then reading a Batman comic book from 1988, The killing Joke, I came across a picture of the first time the Joker lost his mind. On his knees, hands clutching his head with a look of despair, pain & madness on his face. This was exactly how I felt in my own head. I now have this image on my arm not as... a reminder of what happened, but a reminder of how far I have come from that dark time. After diabetes nearly killed me, my mental health was shot to say the least. Motivation, energy, self belief and self confidence where in negative territory, all I was thinking is what will I do that will try to kill me next. I knew what I had to do but didn’t want to do anything as fear had taken over. That fear only compounded on itself, worrying about what others thought and what what I thought they where saying. After 4 months I pushed myself and joined the local gym which now happens to be the same gym I am based at, with my wife and sister. We where introduced to a PT Britt. Who would have known back then that this introduction would completely change my life. Britt taught me in my darkest times the unbelievable effect exercise would have on helping my mental health. After training sessions I would be clearer, more motivated and would be in a better place all round. I used exercise a massive tool to turn my mental health around. 13.01.2022 Connection in times of isolation. Today I caught up with people in the fitness industry including a good friend. It reminded me that this is a new normal. But whether it is a zoom call, a text message or a messager group. Digital connection is vital. While in lockdown and we are unable to physically meet up with people, don’t discount the importance of digital connections. Platforms like this allow us to still keep in contact during these unprecedented events and keep a sen...se of connection and being social. Tell me what your thoughts on this are.

11.01.2022 A question I get asked all the time. How can I target where I lose fat from. The simple answer is you can’t. The body will shed fat from all over, belly fat is some of the most stubborn to lose. The key is CONSISTENCY. 05.01.2022 Brooke started training with me 6 months ago. After having her daughter, she was not happy with how her body changed, struggled to put on weight and wanted to turn that around.
