In this piece, Oscar Delaney reflects on his faith, non-violence civil disobedience and his group's work to challenge Clive Palmer's Waratah Coal Mine. https://anglicanfocus.org.au//slumdog-takes-on-millionaire/

Signing up for todays massive interactive... live stream led by the school students starting at 4pm Eastern time. https://www.schoolstrike4climate.com/may15 2. Going to arrcc.org.au/act where you can: (a) Put your bank on notice that you want them to stop investing in fossil fuels. (b) Tell your MP that you want COVID19 economic stimulus money to be invested in renewable energy and not fossil fuels.

08.01.2022 We are all really keen for some good news on the climate front, but unfortunately this State Climate Policy announced yesterday is actually rather underwhelming. Behind the headline pieces (which are still welcome) there is a distinct lack of substance. WA’s commitments pale in comparison to those of other states and there is still no clear plan to reduce WA’s rising emissions (largely from LNG industry) outside of the ‘aspirational net-zero by 2050’ target.

07.01.2022 Friends, last night the Committee decided to cancel our face-to-face forum to help prevent COVID-19 transmission and protect the more vulnerable members of our community. Of course, the climate crisis is as urgent as ever; given this, we still plan to hold an 1 hour online, panel discussion on 1 April from 5pm. It will be facilitated by Rev Chris Bedding. More to follow.

07.01.2022 This looks like it will be a great local event put on by the Buddhist Society of Western Australia. This Sep 18 edition on "Activism with Head and Heart" features Dr Richard Yin, Mindfulness Teacher, GP and national secretary of Doctors for the Environment Australia.

06.01.2022 Our national President of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC), Thea Ormerod, has penned this opinion piece to mark 5 years since Pope Franciss landmark encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si. As we consider how to shape an economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis it is important to prioritise caring for our common home.

02.01.2022 Have you seen this event? Worth checking out! Western Australias universities have combined to present a one-day symposium: Tackling Climate Change in Western Australia: Ideas for a State Climate Policy. 11 November 2019 at the University of WA University Club.... The purpose of the symposium is to inform better discussion of and submissions to the States Climate Policy process. The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation published a Climate Change issues paper in early September to launch a period of consultation, which closes on 29 November. The date of the symposium enables those interested in making a submission to be better informed on the issues and to discuss them before completing submissions to the Government. The symposium will be opened by the Chancellor of the UWA, The Honourable Robert French AC. The two plenary sessions feature three authors from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, Global Warming of 1.5oC, 2018, and other internationally acclaimed experts on climate change science. The six breakout sessions address themes pertinent to developing a climate change policy for Western Australia. The registration fee is $100 with discounts at $50.

02.01.2022 ABC 8.30 pm Monday night, Four Corners, will be well worth watching. For more than a decade the climate wars have raged In Canberras corridors of power, the n...ations most senior public servants have been there through it all. Usually they keep their thoughts private, but now several of these former mandarins, who have worked with the highest levels of government, are speaking out. They describe cases of flawed decision making and reveal how parties on all sides of the political spectrum have squandered important opportunities in pursuit of their short-term political interests. Many of them look back upon their time working with government with regret that they could not achieve more - https://www.abc.net.au/4corners/climate-wars/12247494 See more

02.01.2022 "The 2020 Climate of the Nation report, released on Wednesday, found that two in three Australians would prefer the government choose renewables as the pathway out of recession." We believe there is a better way too. Please join us for this vigil as we pray for a safe climate future on the steps of the WA Parliament House: https://fb.me/e/dubq1M9U1

01.01.2022 I write to urge your creative action, your advocacy, and your prayer before prayer becomes our only recourse, he wrote. It is almost too late, but we can still make a difference if we act now!

01.01.2022 The WA Government are in the final stages of preparing the State Climate Policy and we want to take some time to pause, pray and meditate for a safe climate future. We deeply hope the new State Climate Policy will reflect the urgent need to reduce WA’s fossil fuel emissions and not create any further damage to the climate system. We invite you to sit with us as we bring our grief about the impacts already seen, our fears about the impacts to come, our hopes for renewable-powered WA and our intentions for a just transition. Please join us on Tuesday 17 November at WA Parliament House Steps to pray and meditate for our climate.
