08.01.2022 Getting it right isn't difficult, but getting it wrong can be disastrous Coupling and uncoupling a prime mover and semi-trailer is a skill that should be maste...red before a driver gets their Heavy Combination licence. Yet there are an increasing number of photos posted on social media of trailers being dropped. According to several fleet operations managers we questioned, two common factors emerged behind most incidents: complacency and distraction. In the first instance, drivers were found to have taken short-cuts in the coupling procedure, while in the second the simple issue of become distracted during the procedure had serious ramifications. Sadly, in recent times there has also been an increase in dropped trailers due to vandalism where the fifth wheel's lever has been pulled while a driver has been taking a fatigue break.

08.01.2022 From 26 September, motorists will no longer need to slow down to 40km/h on roads with speed limits of 90km/h or MORE when passing stationary emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Drivers will need to slow down safely and move over to give them as much space as possible. In speed zones of 80km/h or LESS, motorists will STILL NEED TO slow down to 40km/h. The rule will also be expanded to include stationary tow trucks and breakdown assistance vehicles displaying yellow flashing lights. Find out more: http://bit.ly/slowdowngivespace
