25.01.2022 Hi, my name is Mary-Kate. Welcome to my Art and Drama studio. My goal with ARTiculate, is to nurture the artistic creativity of primary school aged children via weekly Saturday morning Art classes, and to enable Speech and Drama students to speak more clearly, expressively and confidently. As a fully qualified AMEB (Aust Music Examinations Board) private Speech and Drama teacher, I am also able to prepare Drama students for both Eisteddfods and Examinations. I'd love to meet your child, learn about their interests, ignite their creativity and have fun in my art and drama classes. If you'd like to know more please contact me. p: 0417783289

20.01.2022 Reminder - No art class tomorrow. I am in Brisbane this weekend instead at the CSPT Assn Conference at IONA College. Tonight has been the culmination of several wonderful workshops with the very talented Jennifer Flowers in which each participant prepared two Shakespearean Sonnets for performance. pic to follow of the group who performed tonight with Jennifer and another with my Toowoomba carpool buddies. We’ve been having a cracker of a time together rehearsing for this project. Looking forward to more workshops tomorrow!!

18.01.2022 Term 2 Art class resumed last Saturday. The theme for this term is Creative creatures (Anthropomorphism, Zoomorphism etc.) It never ceases to amaze how rich ...the childrens imaginations are, and how comfortable they are in thinking outside the box to problem solve. They are an absolute delight! Does your child love to use their imagination to draw and create? The class is small (capped class size), with students receiving individual attention in a comfortable well resourced studio. The focus of classes is driven by the interests of the children, and they are encouraged to develop their own unique style. Contact Mary-Kate for more information- p 0417783289 See more

17.01.2022 Sad news this week with the passing of poet and patron of the Speech and Drama Teachers Assn (Qld) - Bruce Dawe OA. An extraordinary poet. https://www.facebook.com/135210273163053/posts/3415361268481254/?d=n

06.01.2022 Slam Poetry! Loving this new book by young Australian slam poet Soli Raphael.. He’s an inspirational writer and performer. Some great advice for young performers included.

06.01.2022 A reminder Drama classes are back this week! I hope you have enjoyed the holidays. I certainly have - especially having the time to wade through a box of books donated by generous retired Drama teacher Pat Buchanan. I stumbled across this book Blackbird Has Spoken, so have also been reading up on the author. Enjoy! My lovely friend Tsam, who lives in Hampstead London, has found the authors grave and taken some pics.

05.01.2022 Ears and bunyips - this class have such wonderful imaginations!

05.01.2022 The theme for Term 1 Saturday art classes is set - all things insects and bugs. In this two hour weekly class students will look through reference material (including framed insects, and scientific and illustrated insect books). They will develop their observational skills in the garden, improve their technical drawing skills, work on conceptual designs, and produce 2 & 3 dimensional artworks in a variety of styles - learning about historical art movements, artists and the language of visual communication as they go. Please contact me if you have a budding artist who likes to create, is a deep thinker and eager to learn. The class size is limited to 6 upper primary aged students. $35 per student. All materials supplied. Airconditioned studio.

02.01.2022 Some colour theory, colour experimentation, and coloured bugs coming to life on the page!
