24.01.2022 A few trees are still available at Artists@work. They were decorated to fundriase for the Christmas Fair, but could be easily remade into the perfect patio tree that never needs watering. Make an offer.

23.01.2022 Cairns Art Society is now calling for entries for its 73rd Annual Art awards, with eight prizes across a wide range of topics and media, thanks to generous sponsors. Enter via the Cairns Art Society website. The awards are open to all artists.

22.01.2022 Big week coming up at Artists@work. Exhibitions by Sheran Barton and Yvonne Hering finished today - next window exhibits are by Steven Jansen and our resident artists with ARC Disability Services. Friday night 6 March is Zonta Cairns' signature International Womens Day Gals at the Gallery, at Artists@work for the first time - all welcome. .

21.01.2022 Two really interesting exhibitions this month by painter Monika Riediger and Japanese woodblock printing artist Yvonne Hering. Yvonne is often working in the gallery and demonstrating the art of woodblock making.

13.01.2022 Finetune your drawing skills with our monthly Life Drawing long pose sessions with model in our comfortable artist studio at 29 Sheridan Street. Easels and tables available. Price is based on the number of artists, usually around $20, with a limit of 10 artists per session. Sessions are 9am to 3pm, one Sunday a month, with the next one on 25 October. Future dates will be advertised on the Cairns Art Society website. To book or enquire call 0414833868. No oil paints.

12.01.2022 It's fascinating to watch Yvonne Hering in the studio most days, as she makes the woodblocks to print her series of cards. The cards are being sold to raise bushfire wildlife funding. Here's the process for one of the cards - from the initial drawing and adjustments to carving the woodblock and the final print from it.

11.01.2022 Our gallery is chock-full of great gifts for Christmas, with lots of original paintings, drawing and prints, wood sculptures, ceramics, silk scarves and cushions, cards, and jewellery by our 16 members. Also great paintings and cards by the artists with ARC Disability Gift vouchers for art classes by our resident tutors make great Christmas gifts too. Open daily.

11.01.2022 Our studio/gallery is looking terrific, with all smart new signage. Lots of great artworks inside too, by our 14 members, and this month's exhibitions in the front windows by Michael Dircks and artists attending classes with ARC Disability Services. Art classes on Wednesday and Saturday mornings with Sheran Barton are also growing every week.

06.01.2022 It's great to be open again. Our artists have been working hard over the last few weeks, so we have lots of new paintings on sale, as well as prints, cards and timber sculptures. Some of our artists also do commissions - ideal for the unique gift.

04.01.2022 What a great night we had Saturday at the Christmas Community Artisan Fair! The were so many beautiful delights at the stalls, and the music and food at the busy restaurants were awesome. It was great to see so many people out, walking, scootering, skateboarding, pushing prams and walking dogs. Thank you to Cairns Regional Council, Audi, Cairns Urban Walking Tours, and all of the wonderful volunteers. Let’s do it again soon!!
