23.01.2022 Dear friends of Arundel House, During this devastating season of droughts and fires, we have been very conscious that alumni, current residents and incoming residents have been impacted by these disasters. Our prayers and hearts are with you. We're particularly mindful that there will be some young women planning a move to Sydney this year to further their education, who now may be finding that a more difficult decision, perhaps even impossible due to these disasters.... Arundel House has a long history of assisting young women from regional Australia through providing affordable accommodation where foundational needs are met daily - such as food, safety and connection - as well as a strong support network for mental, emotional, relational and spiritual wellbeing. This year, we long to give this opportunity to young women whose families are experiencing hardship, as our way of caring for them and their families. Given the financial hardship of many of these families, they will not be able to afford our rates. We are currently exploring funding opportunities to support young women in such a position, with a goal to subsidise their rental payments. If you are a young woman in such a position, we would love to hear from you. We will also be posting here any information we find out about any assistance programs you could access. If you are an Alumni or want to support young women, please consider how you may be able to help us provide accommodation. Stay tuned as we may be able to set up a specific donation fund. Or perhaps you know of an organisation that would provide financial support for a student to live here. You can direct message us, or see our website for ways to contact us. 15.01.2022 As 2019 draws to a close, we want to take this time to say a big thank you to everyone who has given us so much love and support over this year (and for all the other years). We will be closed from the 20th December through Christmas and New Years'. Our doors will re-open again next year from Friday, 3rd January 2020 for a new year of fun, love and sharing lives with our new and old residents in the new year!

From January you'll be able to make a tax-deductible contribution as small as $5. That is all from us this year. Our office is now closed for the Christmas Break. 08.01.2022 Monday Night Dinners are an important part of our community life at Arundel. One of our not so old traditions is a cake decorating competition between our Arundel Tribes. We made some adaptations this year for pandemic precautions - cupcakes have been a hit. Hope you enjoy these fantastic creations as much as we did making and eating them! Each tribe was given a different theme: Circus, Mythical Creatures|Aliens, Jungle|Tropical and 2020.

06.01.2022 The HSC begins today. I’ve been impressed by the attitudes of grade 12 students whom we’ve interviewed for 2021 residency and encouraged by their determination to press on through their exams regardless of the challenges the faced this year. As all grade 12 students step into those exam spaces, actually facing what they have been working towards, let’s surround them with as much support as we can. Here are some ideas if you’re not sure how you might be able to help: study sn...acks celebratory dances post each exam (every milestone counts) affirmation of who they are and are becoming (character traits you see) fresh air and exercise (the kind that is fun where you don’t realise you’re exercising) space listening ear prayer ... Students we’re praying for you and are proud of you. Feel free to comment with other ideas of how people can support grade 12 students in their lives over this month. What did you find helpful when you did the HSC (or equivalent)?
