20.01.2022 Many people aren't aware that it is common to find asbestos in older bathrooms (Pre-1990). If your thinking of creating a great new space, make sure you get an asbestos assessor to check for asbestos before you start to protect both you and your family. #AsbestosAwarenessWeek #asbestoslurks https://bit.ly/3nFSOIK

15.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Judith, the Society's Social Worker and Lauren, our student placement. Judith has been with the Society for over 12 months and has made a significant contribution to the The Silicosis Support Network, helping to set up the support networks and the website as well as providing exceptional care and information to the Society members for both Silicosis and an Asbestos Related Disease. Lauren has accumulated 400 hours with the Society, learning from the best, Judith. Good luck to both of these ladies and hoping our paths cross again.

14.01.2022 If a house was built or renovated before 1990 it has a good chance of containing asbestos. Whether you're doing up your own home or working on someone else's, be aware before you start of where asbestos might be found. Investigate before you renovate #AsbestosAwarenessWeek #asbestoslurks https://bit.ly/3nFSOIK

14.01.2022 Bringing to a close national asbestos awareness week, the Society's Ecumenical Service was held at St Stephens Cathedral where we honoured the lives of those who were taken due to asbestos related disease. A beautiful butterfly wall was erected in their honour. #asbestosawarenessweek

09.01.2022 If asbestos needs to be removed before you start work, use a licensed asbestos removalist. In some circumstances the law requires it. Be aware there is no known safe minimum level of exposure to asbestos fibres. #AsbestosAwarenessWeek #asbestoslurks https://bit.ly/3nFSOIK

08.01.2022 PPE cannot guarantee your health or safety, but it will help reduce your risk of exposure. It must be selected, worn and removed correctly to be effective. You also need to follow safe work practices to prevent asbestos contaminating everything around you. #AsbestosAwarenessWeek #asbestoslurks https://bit.ly/3nFSOIK

02.01.2022 If you are unsure if something contains asbestos, do not disturb it, drill it, cut it or break it. Have it assessed by an asbestos assessor. #AsbestosAwarenessWeek #asbestoslurks https://bit.ly/3nFSOIK

01.01.2022 Far North Queenslanders are being warned of a potentially deadly killer in unrenovated homes and businesses. Asbestos may be lurking behind the walls, and one D-I-Y error could have life-threatening consequences.
