20.01.2022 The Pre Prep children have been enjoying learning through the new interactive whiteboard. We have been busy learning to recognise our name and learning numbers 1-10. We have also been using the interactive whiteboard to enhance our music and movement!! Name recognition builds concepts of print and begins the process of sight reading as well as children learning to have an identity. Recognition of numbers supports the development of other number skills such as counting.... Music and movement helps the body and mind work together. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self expression.

13.01.2022 Jeans for Genes Day this Friday!

13.01.2022 Yesterday and today we put our gross motor and problem solving skills to the test with some new additions to the nursery furniture. They especially loved crawling or walking up and down the grey ramp with more and more confidence. The children were happy and engaged in exploring the obstacle course; Ryan and Harry stepped in between the railed ramp to get across to the middle, sometimes using the wall or sides to keep their balance. The A frame was a tricky but a popular one too, with Harry and Ryan taking one or two steps up the side and Jack and Millie using it as a support to help them stand up. Jack figured out that the pole on the A frame spins, he was so happy with himself he repetitively spun it. We are excited to watch as these little ones explore and further develop their skills over the next coming weeks.

12.01.2022 Today in Kindy we read "Share said the rooster". We talked about how the characters were feeling throughout the story and how we share in the classroom. At the painting table today we focused on starting to recognise the first letter of our name, by dotting a capital and lower case letter. Then painting each circle at the bottom with our letter in it. On the carpet the kids got creative when constructing various creations with the mobolo. The children told us they made planes, transformers, trucks, helicopters, "a big one" and many more throughout the day. In home corner we made some "lunch". We cooked the pasta and "veggies" then added the pasta sauce. We all helped serve it out to our friends, and topped it off with some tea. Thank you for a great day! See you next time.

08.01.2022 Today we enjoyed exploring our garden, learning about sustainability by planting some new herbs, watering our garden and caring for our garden. The children were curious, eager and showed enthusiasm by quickly putting on their garden gloves and finding a watering can ready to plant the herbs. We planted thyme, rosemary, basil, mint, parsley and oregano. The children were digging little holes to plant the herbs and then used the watering cans to water the herbs. While planting our herbs we had a lovely conversation about gardening and if anyone at home has a vegetable garden.

This type of activity also helps the children understand safety and following rules. Buil...ding on our letter recognition and identifying the first letter to our own names. Floor activities consisted of the ever popular Mobilo! And we also got to use the brand-new magnetic building blocks! These are so fun to build with because they can somewhat cling together making the towers and things, we build nice and strong!!
