25.01.2022 MINDFULLY WED I'm delighted that Ash + Elm Studios is part of the mindfully wed community @less_stuff_more_meaning @mindfullywed I’ve been flipping and flopping the last 2 years in my business feeling disheartened and confused about my business and the industry I work in. Personally I’m vegetarian (about 90% vegan....getting there...don’t judge ). I’m involved in community groups that promote homegrown produce/food/seed swaps. I volunteer my photography skills, ...and other professional skills (retouching/design) to local not for profits. I give 5% of my bookings to @careaustralia to support women all over the world who don’t have secure, paid jobs and are vulnerable to injustice. I carbon offset my car. I TRY to live a sustainable life, as best as I can. I am not disclosing any of that for glory or acclamation. That's just my life ..my values. In my business I have ALWAYS used local Australian suppliers like @seldexalbums who are my main supplier. They produce stellar handcrafted work. More specifically the majority of my suppliers are in Victoria where I live. I've never comprised, even when advised, that I should buy my books from America or China because they are cheaper. No judgement (I don't judge others journeys) but I am also proud to say I only offer vegan coverings for my Fine Art books. No leather is sold through this studio. BUT, with all that said, something was missing in my business/my soul and I felt a bit lost in it. I got very sick about 3 years ago and everything in my personal life changed. My values, outlook, desires all changed, or rather, they amplified and the urgency to live an authentically increase, but I couldn't seem to articulate that in a business where I am surrounded by such consumerism, such waste. Until I found @less_stuff_more_meaning. I now feel like Ash + Elm Studios a brand new business! Starting from scratch. I am very excited to be surrounding myself with a community that is aligned with my values. 13.01.2022 Blowing in a spring breeze Who doesn’t love a beautiful dress? What do to with it afterwards though? You could repurpose it into another dress. Or sell it to recoup some of your expenses from the day. Or lovingly store it away for future members of the family getting married, and hope someone wants to wear it.
