23.01.2022 In a world of uncertainty, one sure thing is our priority to locate and access a hydrant in a fire emergency. The water on our trucks runs out quickly, the hydrant gives us access to a continuous supply from the water main to deal with whatever we face. As we found today, some hydrants can be as hard to find as toilet paper in the Covid crisis. So before we cut short, we've been out locating, unearthing, and marking these essential resources in our local area.... If you are looking for an iso activity or just need a reasonable excuse to get outside, have a look nearby your home. Plates on telegraph/power poles give clues to their location. By looking after the hydrant near your house or work you are helping firefighters in an emergency. Clear the area around hydrants of any grass, vegetation, gardens, rubbish and dirt.* Please also ensure no one parks over a hydrant at any time. Help us help you and make your hydrant visible and accessible. * Remember wash your hands afterwards. #StayHomeForUs #PreparedForAnything #IsoActivities

20.01.2022 This ANZAC Day while we are 1.5m apart, together we stand in the #ANZACspirit. We acknowledge the sacrifice of those before us. We remember them. Lest we forget.

13.01.2022 See first hand our mates from Bankstown Station knock-down a fully involved car fire which was threatening the adjacent house with occupants inside. Excellent work 62. Great save.

11.01.2022 To all the Dad's out there. Hope you're having a great day. To those working today. A special THANK YOU.

08.01.2022 Do you have a WORKING smoke alarm?

08.01.2022 Some pandemic survival tips: * stay calm, * consider others, * check on your neighbors, * contact your GP if you're unwell,... * call 000 in an emergency. Don't panic. We're all in this together.

05.01.2022 Our observations this week: * Fires haven't quarantined, * Rescues are not postponed, * Alarms are not self isolating, * Cats haven't been cancelled from trees, and... * The poo paper pandemonium is no longer a joke. This is a sign to all of us. Lets bring back some of the care and compassion we saw just two months ago. Please look out for each other as we look out for you. Finally, please refer to the NSW health website for the single source of truth. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//dise/Pages/coronavirus.aspx We will work through this together.

05.01.2022 Today we remember Christchurch. We stand together. One year ago we were aghast as intolerance and outright disregard for human life was displayed in the most abhorrent form. We remember all the innocent people affected by that atrocity.... We also remember and recognise how as a society we responded to the hurt, working past the fear, with solidarity and compassion. Standing together as brothers and sisters to support a community, a nation, and look out for each other. #Theyareus. Collectively we rejected the selfishness, racism, and hatred. We are proud to work for an organisation that promotes openness and inclusion, and embraces people from all walks of life to protect all of our community. The true test of who we are as a people and a society is how we respond in a crisis and support each other.

04.01.2022 Well done Station 93 Narellan.

03.01.2022 Be like our Karen!

01.01.2022 This morning Ashfield crew responded to an Assist Ambulance call to help extricate an elderly patient from the second storey of a terrace. Unfortunately the patient had fallen in the shower and NSW Ambulance needed some extra hands to move her to further medical care. NSW Police Rescue and Fire+Rescue carefully disassembled the shower screen and packaged the patient. With a tricky route to the outside via a narrow staircase it was decided to call for a lift, a Bronto Sky-Lift.... In a rather tight street, and cognisant of surrounding powerlines, our colleagues at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 001 City of Sydney expertly navigated the ladder platform to and from the second storey window to bring the patient safely down to ground. An excellent multi-agency effort. Unfortunately while doing your best at home accidents can still happen, but be assured we are all here for you. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #WeAreHereForYou
