25.01.2022 **UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 16** . Finally some good weather greeted our #asjccfuturestars Under 13s as they returned to familiar turf on the home ground a...gainst the visiting Seddon Cricket Club. . Coming into the match, Seddon was on a 6 game win streak have beaten heavyweights Williamstown & Footscray in recent times. . This match also represented the TEAM DEVELOPMENT MATCH where the team coach, Julian Smith, stepped back from all coaching responsibilities and handed the keys to Sam & Matteo (as joint captains) with Josh Bell (vice captain) supporting them. . Seddon won the toss and inserted the home team into bat. . ASJCC started well reaching 0/15 in the 3rd over before Pasindu had his castle disturbed. Unfortunately shortly after Thomas, batting at 3, followed trying to hit over mid wicket, leaving the home team at 2/22. With Josh & Matteo together a partnership was needed but unluckily Josh was caught down legside for 5, with Matteo following shortly after for 13 when Seddon pulled off a thrilling catch. At 4/41 after 8 overs, the visitors were on top and they only strengthened their position when they dismissed Sam for 9 and Levi for a first baller. The Two Blues on the brink at 6/47. Harvey looked like he had runs in him but another fantastic catch resulted in his downfall, leaving Amy & Noah to try and steer the #asjccfuturestars to a defendable target. Noah battled hard, along with Amy, before having his stumps rattled, resulting in the home team being bowled out for 53. All credit to Seddon who bowled with consistency in great areas and backed up their bowlers with some outstanding fielding. . A rev up from the team leaders - Sam, Matteo & Josh saw our Under 13s hit the ground with vigour ready to give it all they had to defend their total and in the first over Levi struck and all of a sudden Seddon were 1/1. Some solid and mature batting from Seddon though saw them move within reaching distance of Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club. Sitting at 1/46 after 10 overs, could the Two Blues muster one last charge? Levi coming back for his 2nd over struck then some tight bowling saw the visitors move to 2/52. Young 9 year old, Svastic then struck and it was 3/53 - following him joint captain, Sam Murphy bowled the near perfect over and found himself on a hat trick as Seddon slumped to 5/53. However despite their best efforts, Seddon past the home teams score and batted on before Harvey picked up another scalp for the team - Seddon now 6/68. A solid partnership saw our opposition move to 6/103 before Sam & Matteo both returned the bowling crease each taking a wicket to wrap up the Seddon innings - 108 all out. Sam ending with 3 wickets, Levi 2, Svastic, Harvey & Matteo 1. . One of the most pleasing aspects from the match, was the willingness of the team to fight it out right until the end with their never give up attitude. In general the bowling was good and the intensity was there for most parts. Whilst not an ideal result, the team remains confident in its preparation heading into the finals with any of the top 4 sides good enough to go all the way on their day. The team now sits 3rd (8 wins, 4 draws, 4 losses) and wraps up the home & away season against 6th placed Caroline Springs next Friday before moving into finals mode. . The TEAM DEVELOPMENT MATCH has allowed Sam, Matteo & Josh along with all members of the squad, to learn about leadership, communication and planning which is another major step moving forward for the group. . With hopes of getting the vital but injured Nikhil Mathur back next week, along with wicketkeeper, Patrick Weir, the team will look to finish of the home & away season with a win. . Our Under 10s match reports for the Sky Blues & Dark Blues will be posted Saturday Evening. . #wearethetwoblues #family #proud See more
25.01.2022 Cricket is finally here! It's finally here!! It's been a long wait and some days it felt like the season was never going to happen. But we are on the eve of the first round for Season 2020/21. The NWMCA have staggered the start for different grades, so we only have two teams up this weekend. But the club is itching to see every ASJCC team on the field and in their element. ... Good luck to the First XI and Second XI taking the field on Saturday. If you are planning to swing past the grounds and check out the matches, make sure you're keeping Covid-safe - check in via the QR code, mask up when you're on the sidelines and follow the social distancing measures. #wearethetwoblues #weareasjcc
25.01.2022 Congratulations to #asjccfuturestars Owen & Ashton who will make their Official Under 10s debut tomorrow night against Brunswick CC. The club couldnt be prouder of you both! #wearethetwoblues #family #proud
23.01.2022 Fridays Nights match reports are in & the #asjccfuturestars have found themselves victorious x 3. . **UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 10** . The Aberfeldie St J...ohns Cricket Club Under 13s playing their final match before going into the Christmas-New Year break have defeated a much improved Barkly Street Uniting by 38 runs. The Away team won the toss asking the Two Blues to bat first. With Josh & Jakob opening the innings, the home team got off to a solid start reaching 0/52 before both batsmen were retired. Jakob finishing with 14 whilst Josh got 22. Harvey was unfortunately the victim of some great Barkly Street fielding and was run out for 3 when looking good. This brought wicketkeeper-batsman Patty Weir to the crease who continues to show his improvement making a 3 retired of 20 balls. The scene had been set with Sam in, and younger sister Amy striding to the crease to make her debut. Whilst Amy didnt get any runs, the excitement of batting with her brother will live in her memory eternally. Brother Murphy batted typically aggressively getting himself 32. Other notable scores seeing Matteo getting 9 retired, Levi 12 not out & Thomas Freedman 10 not out. Noah Miller unfortunately didnt trouble the scorers but is showing marked improvement each week. The Two Blues finishing on 4/138. . Barkly Street chasing a very gettable score came out swinging, getting themselves to 0/65. A true reflection of their marked improvement. Finally though the home team struck via Levi Draper. Two quick caught & bowled wickets via Josh & Jakob saw the Barkly Street run rate slow as our Under 13s built some momentum. The highlight of the day was seeing young Amy Murphy debut alongside her big brother whilst getting a short chance to bat together but things only got better for her, when off Matteos bowling she took an absolute ripping catch, sending the home crowd, players & coach into a chorus of celebration. A moment that will forever be remembered. Amy also was unlucky not to pickup her debut wicket due to a dropped catch at cover, however there will be plenty more opportunities in future. Whilst the bowling was a little inconsistent, Barkly Street were held to 4/100 at their compulsory closure. . The Renegade of the Day award being taken out by none other than Amy Murphy. An exciting day for the Murphy family & an historical day for the club with three sets of siblings playing in the team. The 13s return in mid-January and go into the break with a record of 6w-2d-2l. . **UNDER 10s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 10** . Both Under 10s teams (Dark Blues & Sky Blues) traveled to Pascoe Vale to take on the Blue & Gold squads respectively. Overcast skies saw challenging conditions for the youngsters but with some outstanding performances, both our Under 10s teams finished with solid victories. It would be unfair to pinpoint individuals, so really to recognize the efforts & improved application of all these little champions we need to go through and mention all of them who played tonight - so here we go - A HUGE WELL DONE to Jaxon, Ryder, Logan, Arissa, Nate, Archer, Arissa, Rayyan, Narayanan, Aarayan, our latest debutant Ned Bell and John. . Whilst its all about having fun, making friends & learning the basics of cricket, it always very rewarding to see the kids enjoying the spoils of victory & showing with application how much they can improve their bowling, batting and fielding. Whilst the 13s finished up tonight until New Year, the Under 10s team will take to the field one final time in 2019, with both teams playing at home next Friday. . #wearethetwoblues #family #proud See more
23.01.2022 **UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 12** . #asjccfuturestars Under 13s 2/133 (Nikhil 35*, Matteo 28*, Pasindu 19*, Sam 18*) DEF. Caroline Springs 7/77 (Thomas 2/8,... Josh 2/11. Pasindu 1/3, Nikhil 1/9, Matteo 1/10) . The Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club team playing back on their home ground, won the toss & decided to bowl first. Caroline Springs started slowly, with Josh striking the first blow in the 2nd over dismantling the stumps - always a hassle for the square leg umpire to rebuild! It wasnt long before Pasindu made the square leg umpire work again & the away team were 2/16. A solid little partnership saw Caroline Springs begin a rebuild of their innings with some patient batting, before Josh coming back for his 2nd over again disturbed the stumps. A mini collapse then ensued with Thomas twice, Nikhil & Matteo all taking wickets, well supported in the field by some solid catching. . Under 13 debutant, Svastic Sharma, was given 4 overs & showed immense promise finishing with 0/11 but could have easily picked up 2 or 3 wickets. . Caroline Springs finishing on 7/77 at their compulsory closure. . Taking to the crease and having a maximum 24 overs to chase the score down, the #asjccfuturestars, much like last week, started very well with an excellent opening partnership between Nikhil & Pasindu. They showed patience, hit the loose balls and ran well between the wickets often stealing runs with deft deflections & nudging of the ball into gaps. . With both openers being retired not out, Matteo strode to the crease & looked confident making and along with Sam Murphy put together a quick partnership of 20+ runs, before Matteo on 28 was retired not out. This brought Sams younger sister, Amy to the crease & the two put together another more than handy partnership. Sam, despite a sore finger from wicketkeeping, looked assured before being retired on 18. Amy whilst only getting the 1 run was able to face 15 balls and get much needed experience at the crease. Josh had a short stay sacrificing himself in a runout whilst the team looked to be aggressive between the wickets. . Thomas & Harvey had short innings with each making 3 - one being retired whilst the later was not out. With the Two Blues score well & truly past Caroline Springs, Svastic Sharma marched to the crease for his first innings at Under 13s level. Svastic didnt disappoint & got off the mark guiding a ball between gully & point to register his first run. The home team finishing on 2/133 after 24 overs to record a solid victory which could be summarized as an overall team performance with everyone contributing throughout the game. . The team now sits on top of the ladder after 12 rounds with 8 wins, 2 draws & 2 losses. . A special shout out to the Caroline Springs Coach & team who made comment after the game, how much they enjoy playing against the #asjccfuturestars Under 13s because of the sportsmanship & friendly atmosphere displayed by the Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club kids. Justification of the culture & atmosphere we uphold throughout all our junior programs. Thank you for the kind words Caroline Springs Cricket Team. . Our Woolworths Cricket Blast Program resumes this coming Tuesday whilst our two Under 10s teams are back on the park next Friday as well. A big week of #asjccfuturestars cricket coming up! . #wearethetwoblues #family #proud See more

21.01.2022 Whilst a lot of us have enjoyed our Christmas and New Year break, several families have been heavily impacted by bushfires that have hit our nation. As a small token of support for those impacted in this terrible time, ASJCC will be donating all match fees from the upcoming weekend to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Response and Recovery Fund.
21.01.2022 **UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 14** . Williamstown CC 4/80 (Levi 1/14, Pasindu 1/8, Svastic 1/9) def. #asjccfuturestars U13s 44 (Thomas 20, Harvey 5, Josh 3, ...Svastic 3*) . The Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club Two Blues tonight took on Williamstown on their home deck. The #asjccfuturestars went into the game without Matteo, Nikhill, Sam & Noah who were all missing through injury or illness. . The Away team won the toss and took the field on a balmy evening. The young Two Blues team struck early with Pasindu knocking leg stump out of the ground to have Williamstown 1/8. In the very next over 9 yr old, Svastic, playing his 2nd U13s game claimed his first wicket at this level after a terrific outfield catch. With the ground very much on the slow side, the home team were finding runs hard to come by and had moved to 2/43 before some brilliant fielding from Harvey, resulted in a direct hit run out. The score then reading Williamstown 3/49 after 15 overs. Two overs later, the Two Blues were celebrating again as Williamstown fell to 4/56 however some big hitting in the death overs got the home team to a reasonable score of 4/80 after 21 overs (compulsory closure). . Chasing 81 for the win, the #asjccfuturestars had a horror opening 4 overs of their innings losing 5 wickets to be left on the brink at 5/15. However, determined not to lay down Thomas & Patrick dug in and put together a 26 run partnership before a mixup between wickets saw the human wall (Patrick) run out for 1 (15 balls). Much like senior cricket, when a partnership is broken, the other batsman shortly follows as was the case with Thomas who was bowled for a team high 20 runs. It was a very mature innings, with some impressive stroke play. Svastic & Amy were at the crease needing a further 37 runs of 7 overs to get the most unlikeliest of wins, before Amy was unlucky to be caught in gully leaving the Two Blues all out for 44. Svastic remaining not out on 3. . Whilst disappointed, all the kids remained upbeat to the point that they committed themselves to additional training sessions for the remainder of the home & away season, leading into finals. With Matteo, Nikhil, Sam & Noah all expected to return next week the team will regroup to be ready for their clash against Footscray. The Two Blues sit 2nd after 14 rounds. . ** UNDER 10s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 13** . The #asjccfuturestars Under 10 Dark & Sky Blues teams returned to the field for the first time in 2020, playing at Fairbairn Park with its marvellous surroundings. A big congratulations to young Seb, who made his official Under 10s debut coming via the clubs Woolworths Cricket Blast Program. . Whilst both teams suffered losses, the smiles on their faces from just being able to play cricket again was a sight to behold. . Some highlights of the two matches from a batting perspective being Brahm 11, Rayyan 10, Narayanan 14, Ali 8 & Jaap 6. On the wickets side of the ledger, Ali grabbed 3, John 1, Narayanan 1, Nate 4 & Arissa 1. . The 10s hit the road next week and cant wait to be back on the ground doing what they enjoy most. Both teams have 3 remaining matches before seasons end with their being no official ladder or finals at this age level. . #wearethetwoblues #family #proud See more

17.01.2022 ** UNDER 10s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 14** . Another Friday matchday was on our doorstep within a blink of an eye but unfortunately for our #asjccfuturestars Under ...10s Sky Blues & Under 13s team, their matches were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain & adverse weather conditions. . This however didnt stop our Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club Under 10 Dark Blues getting on the park against Brunswick CC, and didnt our #asjccfuturestars shine brightly in the gloomy conditions. . Both Owen & Ashton made successful debuts as the team had a fun time with bat & ball. Just a few highlights being: . With bat (Brahm 14, Narayanan 13, John 9, Ali 5) With ball (Jaap, Nate, Brahm 1 wicket) . With two matches remaining in the Under 10s season, our Sky Blues & Dark Blues teams look forward to the return of Arissa, Ned, Aarayan, Rayyan, Archer, Jack and another likely Under 10s debutant in Archie Hutton. . 17.01.2022 The ASJCC AGM was held on Thursday evening via a Zoom virtual meeting room. Its going to be a very different season - of that we have no doubt - but with the names above leading the way, the future is so incredibly bright for the Two Blues. And with the added bonus of both the Junior Program and the Womens Program going from strength to strength, believe us when we say its going to be epic. #wearethetwoblues #weareASJCC #ASJCC

14.01.2022 Hello ASJCC Community!! Were still here!! Its been a while between posts......it really does seem like forever. And hasnt it been a roller-coaster of emotions? Times like this weve normally had sport to turn to as an outlet and even that had been taken away from us. So we hope youve been able to use your lockdown time in the best way you can. Unfortunately the changes weve seen throughout Melbourne have been some of the hardest weve faced - and the frustrating thing i...s that were not completely out of the woods yet. But there is light at the end of the lockdown tunnel. Which means cricket is so close we can almost reach out for that bat and hit the nets...... almost. The NWMCA have released their latest Return To Play guidelines - click on the link and have a watch. Its really important to note that whilst there are still a great number of things that have to fall into place before we can get out there and really train and play as a club, were getting closer. Closer than we thought we would be 2 months ago. The Committee have been busy behind the scenes since March in preparation for the season - working hard to have ASJCC ready to go in whatever shape that may take. - weve appointed a senior club coach - we have cemented our ASJCC womens team - were looking into ways to play covid-safe this season - were continually developing club policies & procedures So keep your eyes on our page - if you havent already done so, like the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association page to stay up to date on the latest releases. But more importantly, to our ASJCC family and friends we say - stay safe. Wear your mask. Maintain social distancing. Get tested. Its been said before but its such an important message. We are so, so close. The landscape of cricket is forever changed but well be in it together under the Two Blues banner #weareasjcc #wearethetwoblues #ASJCC
13.01.2022 **UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 17** . #asjccfuturestars Under 13s 3/244 (Sam 53*, Nikhil 36, Josh 30, Jakob 23*, Matteo 23*, Pasindu 20*) Def. Caroline Spring...s CC 54 (Pasindu 2/1, Josh 1/1, Sam 1/6, Nikhil 1/7, Matteo 1/10) . The Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club Under 13s have completed their home & away season with a confidence boosting win over the visiting Caroline Springs CC. . Losing the toss the home team took to the field. Harvey Wallace opening the bowling struck in the first over nicking off the Caroline Springs opener with keeper, Jakob Draper taking a safe catch behind the stumps. Matteo Bell then came into the attack & struck immediately knocking the stumps out of the ground to leave the visitors at 2/8. Nikhil Mathur returning from a 4 week ankle injury made his mark early claiming the teams 3rd wicket with the stumps again rattled. The home team well on top and consolidating their position when Sam Murphy cleaned bowled the Caroline Springs number 4 to have the visitors in big trouble at 4/17 after 8 overs. . Some classy batting from Caroline Springs though saw them put together a very nice 37 run partnership stemming the home teams momentum before Pasindu took 2 quick wickets to leave Caroline Springs at 7/54 and all out after 17 overs. Credit to nice catches taken in the field by Matteo & Nikhil. . Chasing 55 for the win, the young Two Blues started well and batted consistently throughout their innings with all batsmen getting starts and much needed batting time moving into a semi final next week. With a run rate of around 8 per over and some great running between the wickets the #asjccfuturestars continually put pressure on Caroline Springs in the field. Sam Murphy continuing his strong season with 53* retired, Nikhil 36, Josh 30 along with Jakob & Matteo who each contributed 23 before retiring. Pasindu, who opened the batting made a welcome return to form as well with 20 retired. The home team finishing at 3/244 after 30 overs. . Whilst it was a great win for the team, after the match they were under no illusion that next weeks semi-final would be a much tougher affair against Footscray. The Two Blues finishing with a home & away record of 9 wins, 4 draws (no results) and 4 losses. . Two training sessions, Tuesday & Thursday next week before the #asjccfuturestars Under 13s have their first taste of finals cricket. . #wearethetwoblues #family #proud See more
13.01.2022 ** WRJCA UNDER 13s GRAND FINAL REPORT ** . #asjccfuturestars U13s 6/92 (Josh 15*, Pasindu 15*, Matteo 11, Sam 11, Harvey 9, Thomas 8, Levi 8) lost to Seddon CC ...5/118 (Svastic 1/1, Josh 1/5, Levi 1/5, Harvey 1/16) . Our Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club Under 13s have gone down to a deserved winner in Seddon Cricket Club in the 2019-20 Grand Final. . Winning the toss Seddon had no hesitation in batting first in windy, overcast and wet conditions. A tight battle ensured through the opening overs with the game evenly balanced before young Harvey snared the opening wicket leaving the batting team at 1/12. . Both teams were struggling coping with the conditions with the Two Blue boys mixing some good & erratic bowling whilst coping with a very strong head wind. Seddon capitalised on this advantage and whilst the #asjccfuturestars grabbed another 2 wickets, the runs were also flowing consistently. Seddon 3/42 after 5 overs. . A match defining partnership would setup the remainder of Seddons innings advancing them to 3/94 after 15 overs. Whilst the bowling lineup was working as hard as they could, the conditions werent favoring them & with rain falling, things would become even trickier. Josh returned to the attack, and struck a blow before some big hitting in the wet conditions gave Seddon a score they could defend. Patrick Weir also getting a special mention for a smart run out at the backend of the innings leaving the batting side at 5/118 after 18 overs. The compulsory closure being invoked as rain force both teams from the field. . Needing 119 for the win, the Two Blues were on the backfoot with inform batsman Nikhil Mathur run out for 2, bringing Josh to the crease to join Pasindu. A smart partnership between the two pushed the batting teams score to 1/42 after 8 overs with Josh retiring after a well made 15. Pasindu shortly after was retired also at 15*. The Two Blues 1/52 after 11 overs needing another 67 of 8 overs. Thomas batted aggressively getting a quick 8 before being caught at mid wicket but he and Matteo highlighted an area of great improvement in the team with their running between wickets. . With captain, Sam coming to the crease the run rate needed to increase and Sam delivered with a couple of thundering shots before Seddons opening fast bowler was brought back to go 1 on 1 with our team captain. A balanced contest between the two would be finally won by the Seddon fast bowler who castled Sam for 11. . Batting in wet conditions was becoming more than tricky with the ball skidding of the pitch causing the Abers batman many problems. . Harvey Wallace showed his promise making a brisk 9 with two tremendous boundary shots before he was bowled. Matteo unfortunately followed soon after for 11. Levi Draper having to try and hit big did so with some success making 8 but the Two Blues would fall short, with Noah & Svastic the not out batsman. Credit where credit is due to the Seddon bowlers who bowled tightly through the Two Blues innings restricting their run rate. Aberfeldie St Johns innings being completed at 6/92 a 26 run loss. . Whilst disappointing to lose the Grand Final, the club & coach couldnt be prouder of the team, their commitment, development & maturity they showed throughout the season. Irrespective of this evenings result, they were already ALL WINNERS before a ball had even been bowled. The entire team were presented runners up medallions directly following the completion of the match in dark, wet conditions but you wouldnt have known the result with the beaming smiles on faces. A successful and absolutely fantastic season completed with planning already beginning to go one step further in 2020-21. . Some highlights: Sam Murphy, Matteo Bell & Jakob Draper making Senior 3rd XI debuts, Amy Murphy making her U13s debut and 9 year old Svastic Sharma being elevated to make his U13s debut. UNDER 13s HONOUR LIST 2019/20 . 09.01.2022 Hello ASJCC family. We are finalising our preparation to return to train and play and this update advises the framework for safety at the club. This has been compiled from the communications of both Cricket Victoria and the NWMCA. The sheer volume of content been broken down into some of the key points to note - there's a lot to take in. Please know that the Committee, Captains and Coaches are there to help you through it and make sense of it. ASJCC are committed to providing... a Covid-safe environment for you all and we will only continue on with the full support of our members. At the end of the day, playing cricket in a pandemic is a privilege - not a right. We are so, so lucky to have a season to play. Working together will be the difference. All reference material can be found on the club's website - follow the links on the Covid-19 tab.

09.01.2022 It's that time of the year.... the time when school holidays start, workplaces start to wind down for the festive break..... and technology decides it just doesn't want to work. So much for scheduled posts.... precisely why this is appearing so late on the feed! The ASJCC Juniors have played their last game before the break so you've missed the opportunity for top notch #asjccfuturestars action. But fear not. They'll be back before you know it in early 2021. There are still... some fantastic games on before the mid-season break so make the most of the Two Blues cricket action while you still can. The ASJCC Men's and Women's teams are up next, with 3 out of 4 games at Fairbairn Park. Hopefully we'll see you out and about. If not, enjoy the time off with family and friends. Eat a heap of yummy food, drink some cheer and enjoy the Big Bash and Test Series cricket action. We will see you all bright and raring to go in 2021.
09.01.2022 A massive congratulations & good luck from all at Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club to Nikhil Mathur who will make his senior debut in the club's 3rd XI today. N...ikhil at the tender age of 12, becomes the fourth #asjccfuturestars player to play senior cricket in the last twelve months. We couldn't be any prouder. Go well Nikhil! See more
09.01.2022 Due to the EXTREME heat all #asjccfuturestars Junior Training has been CANCELLED for Thursday 30th January. #wearethetwoblues #family #proud
08.01.2022 The Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club would like to wish its players - both past and present - families, sponsors, friends and supporters a very safe and happy festive season. However you choose to celebrate this time of year, we hope it is filled with love and those closest to you. If you are on the roads please take care. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year - and the new decade! - with the promise of much more success both on and off the field.
07.01.2022 Hello ASJCC Community!! We're still here!! It's been a while between posts......it really does seem like forever. And hasn't it been a roller-coaster of emotions? Times like this we've normally had sport to turn to as an outlet and even that had been taken away from us. So we hope you've been able to use your lockdown time in the best way you can. Unfortunately the changes we've seen throughout Melbourne have been some of the hardest we've faced - and the frustrating thing i...s that we're not completely out of the woods yet. But there is light at the end of the lockdown tunnel. Which means cricket is so close we can almost reach out for that bat and hit the nets...... almost. The NWMCA have released their latest Return To Play guidelines - click on the link and have a watch. It's really important to note that whilst there are still a great number of things that have to fall into place before we can get out there and really train and play as a club, we're getting closer. Closer than we thought we would be 2 months ago. The Committee have been busy behind the scenes since March in preparation for the season - working hard to have ASJCC ready to go in whatever shape that may take. - we've appointed a senior club coach - we have cemented our ASJCC women's team - we're looking into ways to play covid-safe this season - we're continually developing club policies & procedures So keep your eyes on our page - if you haven't already done so, like the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association page to stay up to date on the latest releases. But more importantly, to our ASJCC family and friends we say - stay safe. Wear your mask. Maintain social distancing. Get tested. It's been said before but it's such an important message. We are so, so close. The landscape of cricket is forever changed but we'll be in it together under the Two Blues banner #weareasjcc #wearethetwoblues #ASJCC

07.01.2022 **UNDER 13s MATCH REPORT - ROUND 11** . The #asjccfuturestars Under 13s returned to the field this evening, travelling to Yarraville to take on 3rd placed Foots...cray ANA. . Winning the toss, the home team had no hesitation in batting first on a great wicket and near perfect outfield. Footscray started solidly and had moved to 0/43 of their opening 10 overs. Whilst the Two Blues kids hadnt claimed any wickets, their bowling had restricted Footscray early on, well and truly keeping their run rate in check. Missing four of their regular players and playing one short on the day, the Abbers team needed to plug holes in the field. . Footscray moved to 0/95 before in the 18th over, the Two Blues broke through for their first wicket - Thomas taking a skied ball at square leg and giving Matteo a much needed boost with the ball. It didnt take long, before the 2nd wicket fell with Nikhi grabbing an edge to keeper Sam leaving Footscray at 2/101. A run out soon followed after some good fielding from Josh and Footscray found themselves at 3/112 after 23 overs. With only a few overs left before the compulsory closure, the Two Blues needed to stay composed while Footscray needed to go hard. Some tight bowling though again held Footscray back, as they finished with 3/125 at their compulsory closure from 25 overs. Nikhil Mathur probably being the pick of the bowlers finishing with 1/10 off 4 overs. All in all though, the Two Blues had done a fine job, fielding one short on a very fast outfield. . Needing 126 runs for the win, The Two Blues got away to a real solid start via Pasindu & Nikhil - highlighted by some thumping drives by Nikhil, and great running between the pair. Pasindu was the first to go though, when a ball kicked & caught his glove down legside. The initial appeal from Footscray was turned down by the umpire, but showing great sportsmanship Pasindu walked. . Coming to the wicket, Matteo Bell looked good early before under edging a ball that kicked off the pitch from the Footscray leg spinner, placing Aberfeldie St Johns at 2/63 after 10 overs - a very healthy run rate. Sam Murphy came to the crease & had a short partnership with Nikhil who was retired on 21. . The retirement brought Sams, young sister Amy to the crease - Brother & Sister together in the centre. It wasnt long before a huge roar went up, as Amy scored her first junior runs with a cut shot that flew over gully and went to the boundary for 4. Amy was hitting the ball well & was unlucky not to score more runs before skying a catch to mid off. Despite her wicket, Amy left the ground jubilant with her performance and first runs for the club. Meanwhile Sam Murphy was doing Sam things and putting together a score of his own. Joined by Josh Bell, the two guided the Two Blues in range of Footscrays score & then well past. Sam being retired on 54. Thomas then strode to the wicket joining close friend, Josh for another outstanding partnership before Josh retired on 23 with a stiff hamstring. Thomas during this time had moved to 20 not out & batted out the overs with great support from Harvey Wallace who got much valued time in the middle to hone his batting skills. The Two Blues finishing on on a great score of 3/172 and getting their first victory of the New Year. . The win leaves the Under 13s sitting second on the ladder after Round 11. A record of 7 wins, 2 draws & 2 losses. . The Under 10s Dark & Sky Blues team resume their season on Friday 31st January. . #wearethetwoblues #family See more

01.01.2022 ** #asjccfuturestars Under 13s MARCH INTO GRAND FINAL ** . WRJCA SEMI-FINAL RESULT . #asjccfuturestars Under 13s 4/96 (J Bell 28*, N Mathur 24*, S Murphy 16) de...f. Footscray ANA CC 3/94 (J Bell 1/9, S Murphy 1/15) . The Aberfeldie St Johns Cricket Club Under 13s have triumphed in their first ever final knocking out 2nd placed Footscray, to reach as they say in American Sports the big dance aka Grand Final. . The visitors completed an intense warmup and won the toss, sending in Footscray on an overcast night. Playing on quite seriously an MCG quality ground surface, the side would need to keep the ball dry as the outfield although heavily sand based was damp. . Footscray started patiently with the bat, being held in check by the Two Blues tight bowling and field settings. Whilst the home team put on a good opening partnership which resulted in both their openers retiring, their score certainly was not one to put them in a position of dominance. A clear credit to the discipline of the #asjccfuturestars attack. In fact the Footscray top 3 made 13, 9 and 18 with each of them facing 30 balls. . The Two Blues were putting themselves into a strong position despite no reward in the wickets column. Captain, Sam Murphy changed that stat though clean bowling the home team number 5 and Footscray were 1/68 after 20 overs. Josh Bell then struck shortly after with Sam again involved taking a nice catch at mid on the score now 2/77 after 23 overs. Footscray had wickets in the shed yet had at this point not attempted to lift their run rate. Moving into the last over of the Footscray innings, Sam again was in the action with a run out and more continued tight bowling had restricted the hosts to 3/94 after 26 overs (compulsory closure). . Needing 95 runs to qualify for their first ever Grand Final, the team started well with Pasindu & Nikhil continuing their opening partnership from previous matches. Both played some exciting shots with Nikhil being the standout of the two. A few close run out calls gave their team mates on the sidelines some scares but the two had forged a foundation for the team to build on in their run chase. Pasindu being dismissed for a patient 7 & Nikhil retiring at 24. . With their departures, Josh Bell came to the crease and batted with maturity beyond his years with assistance from Thomas Freedman & later Sam Murphy. Respecting the good bowling, working his 1s and 2s and punishing the loose balls Josh was becoming the backbone of the innings. Young Thomas, hit a thumping pull shot through mid wicket and the Two Blues were creeping closer to the target. Josh retired on 28, bringing his brother Matteo to the crease. Some smart cricket and mixture of powershots from Sam, saw the duo have the visitors within reaching distance of the chase before Sam held out at deep midwicket. Matteo quickly followed and the Aberfeldie St Johns team were 4/93 still requiring 2 runs to secure victory. However the Draper boys, Levi & Jakob remained calm and the Two Blues had qualified for their first ever Grand Final. . An amazing team effort and this could not have been possible if not for the efforts of all 13 players that have been in the squad throughout the season special credit to Paddy, Noah, Amy & Harvey who all become available for selection in next weeks season decider and for all their efforts, application and support throughout the season. . A big thank you to all the parents for their support, and to all ASJCC members who attended the match to cheer on the kids. . The Two Blues will host Seddon next Friday 13th March at Fairbairn Park. . #wearethetwoblues #family #proud See more
