23.01.2022 One of my first presentations in front of an audience of 200+ people was for CPA Australia. I even did a mock interview on stage! Taking the audience in the mind of a recruiter when you're applying for a corporate position.... 5 years down the track I'm proud to be asked again to do the same - only difference this time is it will be online! This is all happening on the 10th of September along with other professionals from some big name firms and universities! #guestspeaker #careerspeaker #careerists

18.01.2022 5 years of hustling and working your butt off and this happens... You put your energy, sweat and tears into your business. Running into countless roadblocks and challenges... That don't go away, they just come up in a new form... The number of times I thought of giving up are too many to recall. However, hard work and persistence pays off. I'm so blessed that our company was nominated for small business of the year AND we won BRONZE!! Many We were up against 3,800 applications throughout the world and as you may have noticed, we were the only one that was from Australia as well! So proud of my partner Iris Du and my team from past and present as well as our support group to have been able to achieve this. Since we are eligible for people choice. You can also support us by voting us to be the favourite company of the year. 16.01.2022 Reading over 500,000 CVs there was always one thing that really bugged me Resumes seemed to be: - plain and boring - too much text (like reading a novel) ... and - it was really hard to find the information I wanted LinkedIn is becoming the preferred method for recruiting. Why? Because they don't have the same problems as everything above. Plus you get to see what the person looks like! So I thought, why don't we throw away the decade old resume and bring it to the new-age. I wanted to introduce our latest addition of service to our company. Which takes your resume from looking old and boring - to looking futuristic! The Online Resume builder. It's like Canva - but for resumes! Best part about it - it's absolutely free to use! I had a recent client who applied for a job and the employer said to her "I wish my resume looked like that!" You can use it for free on our website under services. Enjoy!

12.01.2022 The thing that really annoys me about resumes and CVs...

02.01.2022 "I didn't perform my best that day, can I please get another chance?" -- Me: "The manager said "no"... I remember booking an interview for a Senior Designer role. Their resume was PERFECT! They had tons of experience in:... - the exact same role - same industry - had the right keywords - and to top it off, the resume was beautifully designed! After the interview, The managers said "that was the worst interview I had..." I had no choice but reject them. Reason? They were not able to articulate about themselves in an interview. In other words "sell" why they should be hired. When another similar role came up, they told me they had an "off-day" and wanted to have another try. I asked the managers, but both agreed they didn't think that person could perform any better. So, they lost their chance. Here are some key things you need to cover: - Positioning: is the value you bring at the right level? - Methodology: can you explain how you can solve the problems we have? - Articulation: can you communicate this in a clear an succinct way? Remember, "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression". #careerists #perfectresume #interview
