21.01.2022 Here's a sneak "peak" of our flagship course Take it Outside.

18.01.2022 Climbing is a lot of fun however you need to make sure you're safe before you start. This is why it's important to perform a buddy check before every climb, making sure you and your buddy are set up correctly. Check out Marty as he covers the ABCDE of the buddy checks.

18.01.2022 On Wednesday night ASM instructor Daniel Butler had the pleasure to attend the "More Than It Hurts" book launch. This was an event of around 40 people held at the Bracket Brewery in Alexandria. Due to Covid restrictions this constituted a booked out venue! More Than It Hurts celebrates women in climbing through 14 short stories ranging from high altitude mountaineering in Nepal, bolting missions in Iran to free climbing the Nose. The book comes with recommendations from both ...Monique Forestier and Tim Macartney-Snape. Alongside a few speeches, the night consisted of conversations and discussions held with other members of our climbing community. The professional editor (and regular climber of course...) Wendy Bruere and Emily Small (the founder of Climb and Wine) spoke about how the book came to fruition and what its publishing involved. Following this there were presentations and tasters from some of the writers. This included poetry, discussions on what climbing means for the empowerment of women across the world and how inclusivity is not exclusive and that it applies to all genders, ages, and abilities. Photos were taken with the editors, some of the writers, and well-known climbers such as Tim Macartney-Snape. There was a thankyou provided to the sponsors of the book who, aside from we at ASM, included Mammut, Climbing Anchors, and Mountain Equipment. The night also offered ASM the opportunity to show off our brand new T-shirt which looks great! Most importantly we’re excited to continue our journey with Emily and the members of Climb and Wine!

05.01.2022 There are many ways a climber can tie into the end of a rope and the figure 8 being just one of them. The rethreaded figure 8 is the most commonly used method as it’s easy to learn plus quick to identify as being correct when doing your buddy check. Here's Brendon covering this subject in 5 easy steps, including how to tie a stopper knot.... Remember nothing replaces instruction by a train professional.
