25.01.2022 During a recent visit with Dr Laura, Olly swore he was only here for a belly rub! We happily obliged of course

21.01.2022 Happy Monday from little miss Maggie! We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend

20.01.2022 Romeo came for a check up recently and brought his chicken for a bit of support. He even carried it in and out of the building himself in line with our Covid guidelines. What a sweet boy

19.01.2022 We're SURE you heard the news! Now that the restriction of only being able to go within 5km of your home has been adjusted to 25km, that means a lot of you will be able to enjoy taking your pups to the beach again! Here is a reminder of the Kingston City Council regulations in place until the end of October.

19.01.2022 Product recall: PetFAST, a joint initiative of the Australian Veterinary Association and Pet Food Industry Association of Australia, have advised that a number of megaoesphagus cases in dogs are being investigated for a possible link to pet food. Pet owners are encouraged to be aware of the signs of megaoesophagus and seek veterinary attention if identified. Signs include regurgitation of food/water, bad breath and signs of pneumonia from possible aspiration of food/water. At this stage, the investigation is ongoing. However, there has been a voluntary recall by VeganPet of one batch of their dry dog food, batch no. 02026021. For full details, please visit veganpet.com.au

18.01.2022 As the weather starts warming up, we will start seeing an increase in snake activity. The construction of the new Mordialloc freeway is well underway at the moment, which has resulted in many wildlife species (including snakes) being displaced from previous habitats. This may lead them to venture in to surrounding residential areas. Please keep a careful watch out in your yard and while on walks. If you suspect your pet has been bitten, take them to the nearest veterinary clinic or emergency centre.

18.01.2022 LOST BIRD We have had a pet bird brought into the clinic as a stray today. If you are missing your bird, please get in touch with a photo or a description. Please note we are not providing a description or photo to ensure we find the correct owner. 9587 4599

08.01.2022 Let's face it - as much as we love cats, sometimes we don't feel the same love back from them. They often like to keep to the safety and comfort of their carry cage, and trying to get them out of it can be the hardest part of their visit! For this reason, we love and recommend cat carriers where the top can be unclipped and removed! As the beautiful Abbie is demonstrating in the picture she gets to stay in her safe little box, and we are able to perform an examination with as little stress as possible (for us and them!), it's a win-win really!

08.01.2022 Does your pet suffer seasonal allergies? Unfortunately with beautiful Spring weather can come some pretty uncomfortable allergies for our pets. Allergies in pets are almost as common as they are in people and it is been estimated that nearly 20% of dogs suffer from allergies, with increasing tendency. As they are for humans, so are allergies for dogs: uncomfortable, itchy, annoying, irritating and sometimes very painful. On top of this: all the itching, scratching and lickin...g can cause secondary infections, which worsen the symptoms even more. Allergies can also present in respiratory symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, and even red and irritated eyes. An allergic reaction occurs when the body is exposed a substance called an allergen - this could be anything from pollens, dust, food, insect bites or even medications. Repeated exposure to the allergen can increase the severity of the reaction over time. If your pet is exhibiting any of the classic symptoms of allergies, there are things we can do to help! Please give us a call to organise a check up. See more

06.01.2022 Congratulations Melbourne, we are so close to being out of COVID-19 lock down. We have had a lot of questions lately about whether this means we will be allowing clients back in to the building. It is something we have discussed at length, and while we understand you wish to be present with your pets, we also have to balance the safety of all clients and staff. COVID-19 is still present in the community - allowing clients in to the building at this time would increase the tim...e it takes us to properly clean the clinic in between appointments, thus reducing the number of pets we would be able to see. Many of you have already found that we have stayed busy through the pandemic and are fully booked for at least a couple of weeks at any given time. To allow clients in at this stage would extend this further. We are so very grateful for everyone's understanding and patience so far on this roller coaster journey. We promise to keep you posted about when things will change and look forward to seeing your faces as soon as it is safe to do so. See more

04.01.2022 Beautiful Tasha looking very prepared for the wet weather

03.01.2022 If you're like us, many of you are taking the opportunity to spend more time outside in the sunshine lately. Which made us think it was a good time to remind everyone of the potential pet toxins present in many home gardens: * Certain plant species/bulbs (e.g. lilies are toxic to cats) * Fertilisers * Pesticides * Mulch... * Mushrooms * Rodenticides * Herbicides Blood and bone, fertilisers, rat and snail baits etc. are often marketed as "pet friendly", but this couldn't be further from the truth - anything designed to kill a pest will most certainly be harmful to pets if they come in contact with, or ingest it. If you suspect your pet has eaten something dangerous, contact the clinic immediately for advice (or an emergency centre out of hours).
