25.01.2022 Promote happiness #childrensmentalhealth

22.01.2022 It is so important to consider this. "All behaviour is a form of communication." #anxietyawareness #specialeducation #communication

19.01.2022 I met with an ex colleague and great friend this week and we discussed visuals. Not only great for children with ASD, but all children! They give predictability and routine, promote independence and are great as a reward incentive! (That delicious carrot ) Whether used in school or at home they are a great tool. They can be personalised dependent on each child's ability, age and interests.... Here are just a few examples of what they could look like. #aspirelearningsupport #education #specialeducation #classroommanagement #homeroutine #visuals #schedules #visualschedules #routine #predictability

15.01.2022 "You are the strategy". Absolutely love that line. As educators, our behaviour is EVERYTHING #education #educator #influencer #teacher #bright #model #teachingtips

12.01.2022 Looking for a cheaper alternative to a weighted toy? Bunnings (Australia) stock door stops of a variety of characters that are great and super cute. While they don't weigh as much as the official ones, they are safe for use in the classroom or at home.... I have had a pig, a llama and now these two Couldn't resist their cute little faces! #weightedtoys #sensoryinput #sensoryseeking #Bunningswarehouse #disabilityawareness #anxietyawareness #autismawareness

06.01.2022 When teaching or discussing emotions, modeling is our most valuable strategy. Children need to learn that all emotions are allowed, normal and happen throughout life. Attaching shame to feelings can lead to bigger problems for young adults. In my classroom I can often be heard talking through my emotions....e.g "That maths question made me really frustrated so I took a big drink and now I'm ready to try again".... I value identifying emotions with all students, no matter what age or ability. After all, we all have them! #aspirelearningsupport #teachersofinstagram #specialeducation #socialemotionallearning #socialemotionaldevelopment #education #teachingfeelings #wellbeing
